"I just LOVE him and love the fact that he has turned into such a wonderful actor, partner and father. Good for him. The pic with the two of them together just melts my heart. My hubby looks at me like that still and I treasure it because some women wish they could find a good man who will still look at them the same way they did years before."

Ashton Kutcher reveals shared parental responsibility

Tags: Adoption, News, Quotes

74868241_cbb Actor Ashton Kutcher revealed that he shares the responsibility of raising wife Demi Moore and Bruce Willis’ children, Rumer Glenn, 19, Scout LaRue, 16, and Tallulah Belle, 14.  Speaking to this week’s Hello! magazine, he said,

All three of our girls are now at the boy stage, and it’s hard. It’s the most difficult task of my entire life because I don’t trust any of these guys.

I think the greatest thing Demi and I do for the girls as far as dating goes is to treat each other with courtesy and respect. By demonstrating that with one another, I think we set a very high standard.

Click below to see what he had to say about keeping the girls grounded, and he and Demi having children together.

Although he is devoted to his girls, the 30-year old saysthat the three of them are not spoiled and grow up with an appreciationof their privileged lifestyle.

Imake sure they have the experience of doing some physical, blue-collarlabor like I did. Scout and Rumer both worked at the Marc Jacobs store.

Clearlyaware of the irony of his previous statement, as the exclusive BeverlyHills boutique has hardly anything in common with your average localshop, he’s quick to add,

I had Rumer work on a construction site with my dad for a while, and Scout just went to Guatemala working for Habitat for Humanityand helped to build a house. Tallulah’s just turned 14, so I’ve toldher that she’s going to have to get a job soon. I think it is soimportant.

It’s really easy to ride on a private plane and have noidea how much that costs. Once you understand that flight from New Yorkto Los Angeles and back to New York again costs the average annualincome of an American, suddenly you start to appreciate the lifestyle.

When the subject of having his own children with Demicomes up, Ashton says it’s something "we would really like to do." Headded,

That is about nature running its course. I don’t know about straight away because I am really busy working.

I have thought about adopting akid my whole life. I would be open to the idea. In a way, I’ve sort ofhad that gift and opportunity with our girls.

sounds like he’s got his hands full! goodluck Ashton!!!!

  2. ang Says:

its kinda funny to hear him talk about “our girls” coz he still seems younger than he is, but it’s great what their family has. demi is in her 40’s now isn’t she so if they have more kids, it’s likely to be through adoption……great values they have instilled in their girls also, helps counteract any bad press rumer or the other girls get.

  3. ssrea Says:

I love this family! I believe they are not only an example of emotional health to their children but to the rest of the world. I am always impressed by the wisdom of someone so young. Ashton is right by not just telling the girls to appreciate what they have but to actually show by example.

Please Hollywood and America, look at Bruce, Ashton and Demi and learn from this family. They leave their egos behind.

  4. Di Says:

I still have a hard time considering Ashton as any kind of father figure especially since he is only 10 years older that Rumer. I mean, he could be her brother. When Rumer was born, Ashton was like 10. I do not think I want to marry someone whose so close in age to my kids.

  5. CelebBabyLover Says:

I’m so glad that no one is critcizing Ashton and Demi for still wanting kids even though Demi is 45! I’m equally glad that Ashton mentioned being open to adoption, since I’m guessing that’s largely what’s stopped people from criticizing their desire for children.

  6. Lilybett Says:

Di, my stepmum is only twelve years older than me and I consider her a mother figure and one of my closest friends as well. She’s only four years older than my oldest sister and it’s just never been an issue. She never tried to be ‘Mum’ but still had a role in discipline and laying down the law, particularly when we were staying with her and my Dad.

I think we’re all used to Ashton playing the dopey teenager or the prankster or the comedic 20-something in his movies – those roles will always keep him young in everyone’s minds.

  7. Jenne Says:

My stepmom is only four years older than me and she has been a great mother figure. She has also been a terrific grandmother for my sons.

It sounds like the Moore/Kutcher/Willis family has it together. Lucky girls.

  8. Tanya Says:

I really would love to see a child with Ashtons genes in it, but I realise that Demi is too old to carry a baby biologically anymore. So its great that they are open to adoption. I know a couple of years ago they were pregnant, but lost the baby. It was rumored they also was in process of adopting a US baby from a teen mother some time ago, I don`t know what happened to that. Hopefully they are succesfull the 3rd time around. Maybe they could use a surrogate and an eggdonor and Ashtons sperm to create a baby that would be his biologically?

  9. thu Says:

i love this family so much! Demi Moore, you are amazing!

  10. Rachel K. Says:

I keep forgetting that Ashton is actually 30 now — but I have to think if I was 19 and had a 30 year old step-dad… I might be a little annoyed by him setting rules for me… especially since their actual father is still a major part of their lives.

If the girls are actually close to him and take his advice and his rules than that’s awesome!

  11. tink1217 Says:

Tanya, my aunt had her last child and only girl aat age 46. So, it is possible, but not very easy.

  12. Sarah Says:

I am so tired of commenters on this site who say a woman is too old to have a baby as though they are experts on the matter…I realize the chances are less likely but believe it or not, many women have babies naturally in their 40’s. Everyone is different. And for all anyone knows they are talking about adoption or something else. I find these statements just as offensive and tiresome.

  13. HardCandy Says:

I understand what you ladies are saying about a step-parent being a good role model but I don’t think those girls or their boyfriends take Ashton seriously, Bruce yes, Ashton no. This is because all these kids know him from is “That 70s Show” and “Dude Where’s My Car” it is hard for kids to take people only 10 years older than them seriously as parent. Bruce probably has a bigger influence or his opinion holds more weight than Ashton’s. I think if the other parent has left or is not involved than it could but if the other parent is still involved the step parent is not seen as the top dog more like an aunt or uncle.
My step father is 30 years older than me and I didn’t take him seriously when he would start shelling out boy advice, and it was usually “stay away from them”. Then again my dad actually gave me advice instead of just saying “stay away from those nasty boys” which is probably why I took his advice to heart.

  14. Rachel K. Says:

Hardcandy — I had to chuckle when you said your stepfather was 30 years older than you and you didn’t take his advice. I think you’re right about it possibly being hard to take him seriously.

Although my father… who is my biological father tries to give me advice all the time and I mostly ignore him.

I think regardless of the age of the parent or whether or not they’re step parents it’s actually pretty normal for teens to at least occasionally ignore the advice, especially when it’s equal to “stay away from them” *wink*

PS — I read on further where you said you listened to your father because he actually gave good advice. That’s awesome :O)

  15. Emma&Anthony'sMom Says:

Boy, Tanya, for someone who has conceived every possiblity of Ashton’s genetics down, you should really think about broadening your horizons. A woman of 46 is not “too old” to carry a child. Women who are much older than Demi have had healthy pregnacies and perfecly fine babies. While extra medical help may be needed to become pregnant, it’s been proven time and time again that it’s doable. Maybe you should read a little more newspaper, a little less tiger beat.

  16. Becky Says:

You know, when they got married I was there with everyone else thinking this won’t last, but they have really surprised and impressed me. What a great family! My sister and her family met them in Sun Valley and said they are so nice and down to earth. I think it is great that he is having them work and know what things cost. Too many celebrity children have had things handed to them all of their lives and don’t know what things cost and don’t appreciate what has been given to them. I think that is great and I agree with him that that is important!

Also, my sister was 43 and 45 when she had her children. It took her a long time to find “the one” and get married and they wanted children. Fortunately for her, she was still able to. Her pregnancies and deliveries were fine. Theyre are many women who cannot conceive at that age but there are still a percentage of woman who can, so I wouldn’t go so far as to say it’s impossible like some people have commented. I hope they do have a baby. Either naturally or adoption. They seem like great parents and would have lots of love to give.

  17. paula Says:

Statistically it is harder to get pregnant and carry a baby successfully to term in your forties and beyond, but certainly possible, especially with the help of modern fertility treatments. I wish them success with whatever path they choose to add to their family.

  18. J.M. Says:

Becky, I agree I never thought they’d last and honestly am still shocked!!

It’s wierd hearing him talk about “our girls” but it’s kind of nice that he takes on that role and that this family (and Bruce) can all come together to do what’s best for the girls. It’s got to be a little strange though for Rumer especially to think of Ashton as a daddy figure when technically he could be a boyfriend figure too!

I always wondered if they’d have kids. He’s so young and probably would love it and she’s probably at a point where she’s feeling like okay I’m done! So it should be interesting.

  19. patrick Says:

i’ve always thought of Kutcher as a one of the savvier folks in Hollywood…
