Nicole Kidman featured in People’s Most Beautiful; talks pregnancy
Nicole Kidman is featured on the Most Beautiful list in the latest issue of People. On her page, the 40-year-old actress discussed her current pregnancy; the baby she and husband Keith Urban are expecting is due in late July. They know the sex, but are keeping it private.
Being pregnant is one of the most profound experiences. You really feel your womanhood. I’m realizing the power and the beauty of being wholly responsible for nurturing, feeding. My blood is running through this little person and bringing it to life. So it’s not necessarily that I feel beautiful, it’s that I feel a purpose.
The other thing about being pregnant is the way people react to you. There is such warmth and joy that you receive. I have no problem with people putting their hands on my tummy without asking. I like the contact and connection.

That is so sweet and so true! I’m very happy for her and Keith. I personally never understood why some women have problems with others reaching out and patting their bellies as most people do it in such a loving, congratulatory way. May Nicole and Keith have a healthy, happy baby! And God bless her Isabella and Connor, too.

I am so happy for Nicole and Keith. May they be blessed with a healthy happy child.
As a reply to the PP: I didn’t mind if people asked to touch my belly, but I felt it was an invasion of my personal space for strangers to just touch me. If you wouldn’t touch me when I’m not pregnant, please don’t assume you can touch me when I am.

I pray for Nicole and Keith all the time because I know how much they really (expecially Nicole because she was thinking she would never be able to have a biological child) really want this baby.
I wish Nicole, Keith, baby to be, Isabella & Connor a happy, healthy life.
I had people touch my tummy when I was pregnant and it didn’t bother me at all. I never felt that anyone ever crossed any line to make me uncomfortable in any way.

not important.. but your blood does not run through the baby. They have their own blood (which is often a diff. type of blood) and how HIV mothers can have babies with out being HIV-they have their own blood supply in the womb. not that anywone cared! I love Nicole!

meme- I’m guessing that Nicole meant that more figuratively than literally. I think what she meant is that her blood is what is nourshing the baby and allowing it to grow and eventually be born. In that way, her blood does “run through” her baby.

Y’know, I never have a problem with people touching my stomach either. It’s not every day that we have a life growing inside of us and the fact that someone is compelled to want to connect with that, it doesn’t bother me at all.
I remember distinctly when my cousin did it and my husband’s cousin did it and i thought it was sweet.
