Jamie Lynn Spears confirms she is expecting a daughter, celebrates baby shower
On Friday, May 2nd, Jamie Lynn Spears was fêted with a women’s-only baby shower at her home in Louisiana. Joined by her mother, Lynne, sister Britney (whom Jamie Lynn was seeing for the first time in almost seven months), family and friends, the gathering of about 25 began at 5 pm and was based around a dinner party theme.
Expecting her baby girl — yes, she confirmed she’s having a daughter — in late June, Jamie Lynn spoke to OK! about her shower, gaining weight, baby names, fiancé Casey Aldridge, and impending motherhood.
(Britney, Lynne, Jamie Lynn, Casey’s sister Ashley and his mom Joyce)
Click below for the interview highlights and another shower image.
At the shower, Jamie Lynn was pleasantly surprised by the outpouring of love and gifts that came her daughter’s way. While her mother and family friends provided many of the big-ticket items, Jamie’s younger friends bought many of the fun ones.
I got adorable clothes. I registered for all the necessities. There is a certain type of bottle I use, Dr. Brown’s bottles. You need your travel set and your sling. I got a wonderful sling yesterday. It is adorable, and it will put a baby right to sleep.
Sharing that she and Casey "haven’t figured out" names yet, Jamie Lynn teased that "no one has given me any suggestions. I wish they would!" Perhaps her baby girl is giving out some suggestions of her own — Jamie Lynn revealed that she’s a big kicker.
It’s when she kicks, when you know she’s there. When she kicks me, I love it. I want to squeeze her already. I do talk to her, you know, like all moms talk to their babies. I just tell her how much I love her.
Jamie Lynn explained that although she barely showed for months, ever since her morning sickness let up, she’s been growing steadily and is feeling wonderful.
I don’t know the exact amount. I’m sure it’s up in the 20s. I’mpretty normal, I think. It’s a beautiful thing. I’m not going to worryabout gaining weight. I’m just trying to stay healthy. I’ve been likingchocolate milk a lot. I’ve been drinking a glass at least once a day. Ihad morning sickness for the first three months. I couldn’t eat so Ididn’t gain any weight in the beginning. I was sick all the time. Now,I feel great!
Divulging that she is so focused on her upcoming daughter that returning to work "hasn’t even occurred to me … I just want to be a good mom," the 17-year-old actress is instead devoting time and energy to her relationship with fiancé Casey and preparing for the birth and parenthood together.
He has always been there for me. I’ve known him forever. Anytime I need anything, it doesn’t matter where weare or where we’re going, he’s the firstone to take care of it. He’s asking meevery five seconds how I’m doing. Hejust cares about me and has really been there for me. That’s what has made meso relaxed through it all because he’s relaxed about it.

May 7th, 2008 at 4:27 pm
Wow, I didn’t even recognize Britney in the first photo! I truly hope everything works out for Jamie Lynn.
May 7th, 2008 at 4:32 pm
It so doesn’t look like the Jamie Lynn we are used to seeing. She looks so sweet and gorgeous. I am sure she will have a pretty baby.
May 7th, 2008 at 4:36 pm
jamie Lynn sounds pretty grounded and down to earth. It is nice to hear she just wants to be a good mom and not worry about her Hollywood career right now. I think that is wonderful. Especially with all her sister has gone through this past year. Staying in Louisiana and being a mom and loving that baby! I am excited to see her little girl!
May 7th, 2008 at 4:36 pm
congrats jamie lynn.. i wish you all the best…. britney looks great!!!!
May 7th, 2008 at 4:37 pm

May 7th, 2008 at 4:57 pm

May 7th, 2008 at 4:58 pm
i still dont know how i feel about the way the press are presenting this situation- it is NOT easy havign a baby and i think that portaying these peieces only make it seem that way too young impressionable girls ( and BOYS!) both my bys like to watch zoey 101 but we wont be watching anymore becasue i dont want my kids thinking that this situation is OK-
nice to see her sister supporting her though- that is one good thing out of all this-
May 7th, 2008 at 5:05 pm
Both sisters look great! Jamie Lynn sounds very grounded and mature. I’m so happy for them!
May 7th, 2008 at 5:08 pm
Awwww Congrats to them.
May 7th, 2008 at 5:12 pm
WOW!!! I lOOOVVEEE Jamie’s dress! Any information on where I can get that for me!?!? I’d love to buy that!
Also, I am wondering if someone can tell me what kind of hair dye pregnant women can use? I noticed that Jamie has highlights… which ones can/should pregnant women use?
Just a word- I am NOT judging. We’re planning to start trying for a family in a couple of months and I’m getting ready info.
May 7th, 2008 at 5:30 pm
Congrats to Jamie Lynn on the baby girl! I’m sure she’ll be adorable, it’ll be cute to see a Spears baby girl.
melissa- it’s a personal choice, you could ask your care provider how they feel about it. My dr said it was okay so long as it was done in a well ventilated area and the dye didn’t touch my scalp (I only had my hair highlighted so it didn’t)
May 7th, 2008 at 5:37 pm
Melissa, You should be able to use any hair coloring you would like. It’s advised not to put bleach directly on the scalp (use foils instead), but hair coloring does not pose a risk to the baby.
The risk is with the mother. The hormone surges in your body could cause the hair color to turn out different than expected. I have neer personally known this to happen to anyone, but my stylist had a client who’s hair turned orange.
May 7th, 2008 at 5:43 pm
I’m really happy for her that she’s so happy. It’s not easy to have a baby at any age, but Jamie Lynn seems grounded and realistic and excited, which are essential things! Can’t wait to see that little baby, I’m sure she will be beautiful. And fantastic to see Britney and Jamie Lynn together again. If there’s one thing a new mum needs, it’s her girls behind her!
May 7th, 2008 at 5:46 pm
She looks beautiful, healthy and happy and I’m glad she’s not apologizing for it. She made a mistake, she got pregnant and made the best decision for herself that she could based on the situation. She’s now reveling in the joy of impending motherhood like EVERY woman deserves, regardless of their age and circumstance.
You are your children’s role models, not Jamie Lynn, not Zoey 101. Be more concerned with being involved and honest with your kids than what she’s doing. If you keep them on the straight and narrow with honest and open dialogue it’s much, much harder for anyone to lead them astray. Celeb or no celeb.
From what I can tell she’s grown up alot and she seems centered and grounded and considering the alternatives, I say good for her. Her daughter(I’m happy for her family that they are getting their first granddaughter!) deserves all the love and celebration children should get upon their entrance into the world.
On a last note, I’m usually very wary of paparazzi invites into private parties for babies and small children, but in this case, after seeing cameramen hiding in the bushes in that uber tiny town she lives in, I understand them wanting to take the heat off her by setting up pictures and an interview on her terms. The way the paps were going there would have been a camp set up outside her house and the hospital soon in an effort to get a picture or statement from her. They effectively killed two birds with one stone by getting new and controlled pictures of both Jamie Lynn and Britney out there.
May 7th, 2008 at 5:49 pm
melissa, highlights are fine for pregnant women. And my doc told me after the first trimester that coloring my hair is fine also…with semi permanent color.
I wonder, and this is not trying to start anything, but just wondering….why boycott a show based on what the performer does in their personal life? Zoey101 was done before the pregnancy news. I believe she may have been done filming right about the time she found out she was pregnant. This would be as ridiculous as not watching How I MeT Your Mother due to the fact that Neil patrick Harris is gay or the fact that they asked Britney to be on the show in spite of all her problems this year. Yes, kids are impressionable…BUT if parents are open and honest and up front about the real world it can be a good teaching/learning experience. Teenagers get pregnant every day. Zoey101 isn’t showing teens having sex. But Beverly Hills 90210 was at it all the time even having Andrea get pregnant her first year of college. Did that cause zillions of teens to go out and get pregnant?
Anyway, just my 2 cents.
May 7th, 2008 at 5:55 pm
“I got a wonderful sling yesterday. It is adorable, and it will put a baby right to sleep.”
I wish…I bought one to use when I watched my niece, she screamed everytime I put her in it…*sigh*
May 7th, 2008 at 6:00 pm
I keep losing my comment, anyway I hope Jamie Lynn has a safe and healthy labor and delivery and good luck to her and her new baby girl.
May 7th, 2008 at 6:06 pm
I just knew it was a girl. Im sure she will be a cutie pie
May 7th, 2008 at 6:06 pm
She is glowing.I love her hair color.I’m so happy that Brit was able to be there to be with her.I agree with her on the morning sickness its bad when you have it but in the end once it lets up its bliss.I don’t care what people say about her being a teenage mom she is growing up let her deal with her life and I’m sure she’ll be a great mom.She has great character to me.
May 7th, 2008 at 6:09 pm
i almost didnt recognize jamie lynn. she looks so grown up! i love her dress.
May 7th, 2008 at 6:15 pm
britney looks great and jamie lynne does to i really want her to name her daughter

and if this article is not true and if she has a boy i want her to name him
Aaden Casey aldridge
May 7th, 2008 at 6:15 pm
Melissa,
Good luck on trying for a baby!
I would double check with your doctor but every doctor/hair dresser that I’ve asked has said that getting your hair done while pregnant is COMPLETELY safe! So don’t worry! I mean, just think…haven’t you ever seen a pregnant hair stylist? They’re around the chemicals all day every day and can have “normal”, healthy babies…in fact, that lady that works next to my hair dresser has 3 children and worked through all of her pregnancies…so I would definitely say it’s safe! I mean obviously I would say check with your doctor but I’m pretty sure that’s just plain old misinformation.
May 7th, 2008 at 6:19 pm
I had my oldest when I was only 18. For me, it was an INCREDIBLY hard way to grow up. I love my son and cherish the relationship that we have, but I missed out on so very much. I wish Jamie Lynn the best, but teen prenancy should in NO way be glamorized the way that hers seems to be being portrayed in the media. My son is now 15, and I pray that he waits to start a family until he’s mature, in a loving MARRIED relationship & is financially stable enough to take on such an awesome responsibility.
May 7th, 2008 at 6:27 pm
Why did they sell these pics to OK mag? The last thing Britney and a pregnant teen needs is to be on a cover. Lynne Spears’ parenting skills still suck!
May 7th, 2008 at 6:27 pm
Jamie Lynn looks adorable … I can’t wait to hear the baby name. Nice to see her having a “normal” pregnancy and not feeling the need to hide.
May 7th, 2008 at 6:29 pm
Jamie Lynn looks beautiful.
May 7th, 2008 at 6:30 pm
Jamie Lynn looks so beautiful in these photos, she really looks happy and you can tell she has grown from this experience.
I know this in not the perfect situation (teenager being pregnant) but I think she really is making the best of it, taking care of that baby away from hollywood, studing for school. And it’s great that she has her family’s support.
May 7th, 2008 at 6:33 pm
Melissa – most doctors give pregnant women the OK for highlights because the dye does not touch the scalp, the color is actually placed a little ways away from it. However, my doctor told me that hair coloring isn’t forbidden, she said the simple fact is that they don’t know if there are any effects, negative or otherwise. Thats why some women choose to stay away from it, just in case. There isn’t any proven evidence that hair coloring during pregnancy is harmful. My doc told me that after the first 12 weeks, if I felt comfortable doing it, go right ahead.
May 7th, 2008 at 6:46 pm
I was told that it was a myth that it’s not safe for women to dye their hair.
May 7th, 2008 at 6:51 pm
ah that’s great news. congrats to jamie lynn and casey!
May 7th, 2008 at 6:52 pm
I am very happy to hear that Jamie Lynn seems to realize what is more important, her child, not her career. Maybe Britney should look to Jamie Lynn for advice from now on.
I cant wait to hear the name she choses for her little girl!
May 7th, 2008 at 7:17 pm
Thumbs up for Jamie Lynn and Casey! I’ve been commenting on Jamie Lynn and Casey a lot lately and I’ll say it again; I really admire them… Not because they’re glamourizing it but they’re keeping it real! Nice that they’ll be having a girl…
P.S. Aunt-to-be looks good!
May 7th, 2008 at 7:35 pm
Bravo Grayson’s Girl. I agree with virtually everything you said. Children should be able to look up to their parents and if there are those that are criticising Jamie Lynn for being a bad role model to their kids, they should turn the focus on themselves and wonder why their kids need make a TV star their role model instead of their parents. As long as Jamie Lynn and Casey do right by their daughter, they don’t need to worry about public opinion. I realise that the parent’s age in this particular situation is a talking point, but there’s nothing to say that the two of them will not make an excellent mum and dad. I wish them all the luck in the world and hope that the remainder of the pregnancy is trouble-free.
May 7th, 2008 at 7:41 pm
Those pictures from Jamie Lynn’s shower look really beautiful. All the ladies look wonderful. I’m glad that Jamie is not only going to have the support of her mother but Casey mom as well. This pregnancy may not have come at the best time but that child is going to be very loved and cared for and ultimately that is the most important thing.
Unlike most teen moms, Jamie has the finanical means to support her child; she already has her GED; the father is still in the picture and she has the love and support from her family. From this point of view, things are good. I wish Jamie all the best. Sean and Jayden are going to have a new baby counsin.
May 7th, 2008 at 7:43 pm
Bren- I had to laugh at your comment b/c I too was so excited to see she’s having a girl and I don’t know why I was so excited about it either haha.
She does seem very grounded and like a normal pregnant woman. I got sick more than once a day for the first four months when pregnant with our daughter so I can relate to her not feeling well. I think it’s funny that there was all this speculation on trashy sites that she wasn’t even really pregnant because she wasn’t showing. And as it turns out it was because she was sick and not gaining weight. Just goes to show you never really know what’s going on in a celebs life and half of what’s written isn’t true. I’m glad CBB runs a reputable site.
It is nice to see Britney involved and looking good. Even her style of clothing was very nice and appropriate for the occasion which she really struggled with last year.
God Bless this family and that sweet baby girl they will be welcoming
May 7th, 2008 at 7:43 pm
i am SO glad to see positive comments on here at last re: Jamie Lynne, there are usually far too many judgemental people about!
yay for her, she is looking great+love the dress she is wearing, like a few others have said, that is gonna be one cute baby girl!
May 7th, 2008 at 7:48 pm
It touched my heart to hear how she described Casey treating her so well. That’s what she needs, the love and support of her fiance and the baby’s father.
May 7th, 2008 at 7:52 pm
I LOVE her dress and that she accented it with red accessories. I also like the more natural, understated look she has with her make-up.
May 7th, 2008 at 8:07 pm
Maybe I’m the only one, but Britney looks AWFUL! I’m glad she’s not out being crazy anymore, but she could fix herself up a little bit.
May 7th, 2008 at 9:15 pm
I give JL lots of credit. She would have been getting a ton of slack no matter what – because she’s 17 and having a baby, people will criticize her for being too young to be a mother. But, and of course hypothetically speaking, if she learned she was pregnant and had it “taken care of”, I can only imagine the flack she would have caught for that! This is her life. We have no right to judge her. And I know that there are loads of positive comments here today, and that makes me so happy given all the negative ones from past posts, but I just had to say that.
I applaud JL for speaking out about her pregnancy. It makes me so happy to see her embracing it all – her daughter deserves that! And so does she! There is nothing more magical than a new baby. I cannot wait that little girl’s arrival!
May 7th, 2008 at 10:21 pm
A girl, that’s pretty exciting. I’m sure Jamie Lynn and Casey will be great parents. I’ve seen young people do great as parents. Jamie Lynn looks great in the pictures, I could barely tell that was her at first!
May 7th, 2008 at 10:21 pm
Congrats to Jamie Lynn & Casey. Yes she is young, but she is taking responsibility for her actions. Growing up I looked to my mother for guidance and she was my ULTIMATE role model. TV is fantasy land and life is reality.
The Spears family has been thru a lot in the last 2 or 3 years. They will continue to be in my prayers.
May 7th, 2008 at 10:35 pm
Hair dye is not harmful for a pregnant woman. The only concern with dyeing your hair while pregnant is how your hair will take the color. With all the hormone changes, your hair can do one of three things. 1. Take the color like normal. 2. Not take the color at all or very lightly and 3. Take the color too well leaving you with a darker shade or a completley different color all together. For instance…. I dyed my hair brown while I was pregnant and walked away with black hair. Your best bet is to go to a hairdresser. They know they types of colors that are going to work best on a pregnant woman’s hair.
May 7th, 2008 at 10:38 pm
Listen up everyone!!! A woman over 40 will get talked about for being too old to have a baby. A single woman will get talked about for being pregnant and not married. A teenager will get talked about for being too young to be having a baby. And guess what EVERYONE??? Dead people WILL get talked about for the wrong things they did while they were alive. People are going to judge you weather you are DEAD or ALIVE so give them something to TALK ABOUT! Jamie Lynn, tell the WORLD to GET A LIFE if they don’t like yours. LIFE IS WAY TOO SHORT TO TRY AND PLEASE A WORLD FULL OF PEOPLE WHO ALL PEE, POOP AND SIN!!!!
If Jamie Lynn is your child’s roll model than SHAME ON YOU for not being a roll model for YOUR OWN CHILD. Turn the TV off and raise your kids. Jamie is an actress who gets paid to act not to raise YOUR CHILDREN WHILE YOU SLEEP (OR DO WHATEVER YOU DO WHEN NOT RAISING YOUR CHILDREN).
Jamie Lynn you hold your head up high and keep a smile on your face. Your daughter will be truly blessed to have you as her mother. God bless you and your family.
May 7th, 2008 at 11:05 pm
I have another question suddenly haha… Does anyone know if the eldest Spears Bryan has children?
May 7th, 2008 at 11:09 pm
My comment is the fact that she automatically registered for bottles. It’s a shame that someone is not educating moms-to-be more on the art of breastfeeding!!!
May 7th, 2008 at 11:14 pm
The picture of her and Britney is really lovely! I really hope the best for the both of them
May 8th, 2008 at 12:12 am
Sanne- Bryan has one son. Anyway, I, too, am so happy that this baby is a girl! I think I know the reason why we’re all so excited about that, too. So far, the three Spears siblings have had only boys. Britney has Sean and Jayden, and, as I mentioned earlier, their brother Bryan has a son as well. Now, finally, we’ll get to see a baby girl Spears!
I’ll bet Britney is thrilled that Jamie Lynn’s having a girl, as she reportedly was really hoping that Jayden was a girl when she was pregnant with him.
All of that said, I couldn’t help but notice that, in the first shower pic, there are both pink AND blue balloons. Why have blue balloons as well as pink when you know the baby’s going to be a girl?
It also appears that Jamie Lynn will not be breastfeeding, since she mentioned the bottles she will be using. Mind you, I am not in any way criticzing her. I’m just commenting on it.
May 8th, 2008 at 12:13 am
I had a feeling it was a little girl from the start. Britney looks good and she seems to be doing a lot better, I am happy for her. I won’t go call jamie lynn grounded or looks like she will be a good mom yet though, because she is just pregnant, that’s the easy part, the hard part is actually raising the child not just as a baby but for many years to come. I hope she can be a good mom though, time will tell. Sanne bryan has no kids yet
May 8th, 2008 at 3:16 am
Thanks for the info. on the hair dye!
Does anyone know anything about her dress? It’s gorgeous!
May 8th, 2008 at 5:06 am
I am so happy for Jamie Lynn. She is positively beautiful, she definately has that glow! I cant wait until she has her precious little bundle. I honestly believe she is gonna be a great mother..just because your young doesnt mean your not gonna be a great mom. I was 20 when I had my first daughter yeah I wasnt Jamie’s age but still I was young and most would say so. I wouldnt change it for the world though and Im sure I am not the only who would say the same thing who had children around my age or younger. No one can say either way really what kind of parent she is gonna be they have opinions yes of course but only she can decide how good of a parent she can and wants to be and I think people should leave it at that!
Also, the hair dye thing I am 14 weeks pregnant with twin right now and I have dyed my hair and highlighted it since I have been pregnant and everything was fine…of course talk to your doctor about it please but i think its a bit of information that has not been proven either way.
BEST OF LUCK TO JAMIE AND CASEY!!
May 8th, 2008 at 5:23 am
even though JL has bottles, who knows…she may give breastfeeding a try, but want to have bottles on hand….for Casey and whomever else would like to feed their baby girl.
May 8th, 2008 at 5:48 am
Jamie lynn looks great. I knew she was having a girl! Nice to see Britney spending time with her sister again.
May 8th, 2008 at 6:56 am
@ ekaterina
i understand that it’s difficult for kids to see their rolemodel get pregnant, and it’s good if you teach them that teenage pregnancy is not ideal. but don’t you think you’re going a bit too far by not letting them watch that programme anymore.
i mean, just because the actress made a “mistake” doesn’t mean the programme is less good.
kids have to learn what’s real and what’s not, and since the show isn’t ‘real’ why should it be bad for them to watch it.
but that’s just my opinion…
May 8th, 2008 at 8:01 am
Jamie Lynn looks good and that dress looks nice.
And nice pictures.
May 8th, 2008 at 8:30 am
I guess that’s it for the “she’s trying to stay out of the lime light, but the paps followed her” comments. She announced her pregnancy big and now she’s selling her baby shower photos and story. I think it’s her right to do so if she wants to but it is not staying out of the lime light.
May 8th, 2008 at 8:33 am
I was going to comment on my own, but Grayson’s Girl & Phoebe said it all! YOU be the example for your child, take responsibility as a parent for teaching them right from wrong and stop letting external influences do your job for you…or at least stop complaining when those external forces let you down.
May 8th, 2008 at 8:50 am
Sarita I agree, I wouldn’t say she is staying out of the spotlight either, first the pregnancy annoucement and now the baby shower pics, and when the baby is born and afterwards I’m willing to bet she will be in the spotlight too. Which is fine if that’s her choice because she already a known person, but I wouldn’t exactly say she is staying out of the spotlight or private.
May 8th, 2008 at 8:57 am
I Knew she was having a GIRL!!! I’m so happy for them! Thanks for the article, and as always they all look great.
May 8th, 2008 at 8:58 am
I love Jamie Lynn’s dress. Does anyone know where it’s from?
May 8th, 2008 at 10:26 am
Prior to this posting, whenever there was a post about Jamie Lynn, people would express their opinion that they were glad that Jamie Lynn was staying out of the spotlight. I think that people are under the impression that Jamie went to Louisiana to hide out when in reality, Louisiana has always been her home and her presence in LA was pretty much work related.
I for one feel that there is no reason for Jamie Lynn to hide out. She is a 17 year old pregnant girl, it is not like she committed crime for which she should be ashamed of. The deal her mom made with OK will give Jamie the finanical freedom to stay home with her child. Unlike, J. Lo, Angelina or even Britney, Jamie does not have millions of dollars in the bank and the Nickelodeon show is a wrap so she has to think about how she is going to provide for this child.
I really do not have a problem with the OK deal because JLS is trying to make the best of the situation.
May 8th, 2008 at 10:51 am
I love Jamie Lynn’s dress. Does anyone know where she got it from?
May 8th, 2008 at 11:41 am
I think it’s great to see the family come together in support of Jaime Lynn. I wish her nothing but the best. And I co-sign 100% to those who say you, the parent, are your child/children role models. No one else!!!
May 8th, 2008 at 1:48 pm
Brian has a son ? I didn’t knew that. Can you give more info ?
May 8th, 2008 at 1:50 pm
I was so convinced she was having a baby boy that I’m nearly shocked LoL…It’s nice to hear she’s having a baby girl
May 8th, 2008 at 2:09 pm
I don’t really get it? She moves back home to LA because she doesn’t want to be in hollywood with all the paparazzi and try to live a “normal” life yet she sells her baby shower story to OK and will most likely sell her pictures of the baby to them as well. How is that trying to live a normal life for you and your child? Granted no matter where she goes she’s going to have people following her and people interested in knowing what’s going on so maybe it’s just better to put it out there but I don’t see that as being something she should do esp. with all the youngins that get their hands on these magazines to read for pleasure. I do wish her the best. It’s the only thing anyone can do at this point. And I am sure with her situation she’ll have no problems being able to raise her child (unlike many other young mom’s who struggle). So all in all she’ll be fine. I just feel as though being as young as she is and us living in a country where we try not to glorify teen pregnancy that they should not be so eager to put the story in a magazine just to earm a buck!! But hey it’s her life and it’s only my opinion!
May 8th, 2008 at 4:44 pm
I think that she sounds very mature and age does not matter when it comes to being a good mum. I hope that her feet stay on the ground and doesn’t end up like her sister..
Hope she chooses a good name!
May 8th, 2008 at 6:22 pm
I’m so happy for her! She will be a terrific mom!
I have a feeling Brit will be a loving aunt and shower the baby with lots of pretty gifts and love.
May 8th, 2008 at 10:37 pm
She looks beautiful. I think she is “lucky” to have had the fame she has had because it gave her financial stability which I think is one of the main reasons young mom’s have a hard time. Granted being 17 and having a baby does make you lose out on ALOT but again she will hopefully have the ability to do the best job she can. I also think its ridiculas to boycott her show. As a parent you should be shielding your child from the tabloids not a kids show. If your child already has seen the show then isn’t the so called damage done? I personally would not recommend getting pregnant young. I am 24 and engaged and can’t imagine losing out on all the fun I had in highschool and college but hey it happens and people make it work and become great parents. So good luck to her and any other young moms and just be the best parent you can be. Always remember there are parents that are 40 who aren’t good to their children so age doesn’t always matter.

PERSONALLY I REALLY DONT AGREE WITH THE MAJORITY OF THE COMMENTS ON THIS PAGE? BE HONEST WOULD YOU BE JOLLY IF YOU FOUNT OUT THAT YOUR 14,15,16 YEAR OLD DAUGHTER WAS HAVING UN-PROTECTED SEX WITH A 19-20 YEAR OLD MAN?

J.M., it’s not glamourizing teen pregnancy. How can it? She has basically lost her job, has people calling her names and judging her parents harshly, parents boycotting her show, also let’s not forget that her older sister still has issues to fix. I don’t see how any teen or adult can think that it’s glamourous. Money can’t buy happiness or a life without problems. Jamie Lynn really has a lot on her plate and I think it’s great that she has a good support system behind her.
Also, I understand why she sold the pictures and story. Not only did she avoid having papas outside her shower but it gave her a chance to speak out about how things are going now.

Jamie Lynn looks really pretty in these picks from her babyshower and I agree that her dress is pretty cool.
For some reason when I first saw the pic, I thought she looked a bit like Candace Cameron Bure from when she was about that age, though Candace was never a teen mom (though she did marry at the age of 20.)
Anyway, I was just wondering, maybe Jamie Lynn will just take the easy route and name her daughter Zoey! It definitely wouldn’t surprise me! lol!

I think everyone needs to get over the fact that she is a teen. Its too late now the baby is here she might as well love and nurture it. At least she is caring for the child and not expecting her mother too. Teens get PG. I think people have to tell their kids the diffrence between a TV character and the real person. TV is not real. I was a product of a teen pregnancy. I am glad I am here and thank God every day when I hold my own children that my mom didn’t abort me. She at least choose life. Just because she is a young mom doesn’t mean she shouldn’t enjoy her child.

People make mistakes and no one should condemn her before she’s had a chance to prove herself. It’s not an ideal situation, but just because someone makes a mistake and faces motherhood as a teen, doesn’t mean they can’t be a good mom. It happened to me, (unfortunately) but I credit a strong family who stood by me thus the success of my story. My son is now in high school with a 4.0 GPA, he’s a sweet, well-adjusted,responsible kid and life is good. Good Luck Jamie, I hope all works out well for you and your daughter.

It is nice to see a family pulling together. A baby girl will be a lovely addition and the important thing is that she and mommy are healthy

theres a quote in ok magazine that says Jamie Lynn is looking for name suggestions… I think that the readers on this sight would have some great ideas for her…

I think it is too bad that such a young girl is making our children think teenage pregnancy is okay… I wish her the best, but is unfortunate that little girls might see this as “normal” or “okay”.

before anyone asks, Casey Aldridge is my real name and no I’m not THAT Casey Aldridge.
I just wanted to comment on the stigma of teen pregnancy. I don’t understand the whole “boycott zoey101″ thing just because Jamie-Lynn and Casey got pregnant. I feel that if parents spent more time PARENTING their children instead of letting televisions babysit their children, then having a teen star get pregnant wouldn’t be such a scandal. This is an excellent learning experience for everyone witnessing this event. Explain to your teens that if they choose to have sex, especially unsafe or unprotected sex, a pregnancy can be the result.
But let’s also be clear on this…having a child is not the end of a teens life. I personally know teen mothers who have gone on to become college grads and upstanding citizens who provide for their children and are not on welfare.
As to the baby name, maybe Casey-Lynn Aldridge?

Congrats to Jamie Lynn for keeping her head on her shoulder and not in the clouds. Granted, it was not her plan to get pregnant, she has since made all of her own decisions and has taken responsibility.
I don’t think anyone can tell who will or won’t be a “good parent,” but it is also not our business. I believe she will have many struggles and also many wonderful times with her new family, just like every family does.
She looks amazing and I’m sure the baby will be gorgeous. It will be interesting to see how much the baby grows up to look like Jamie Lynn, Britney, and Lynne (I think they all have a striking resemblance!)
Again, I wish congratulations and good luck to the entire Spears & Aldridge clan. The arrival of a baby is a joyous miracle and should be treated as one, regardless of the circumstances
