Minnie Driver denies rumors, discusses “happily received” pregnancy
Due in late August with her first child, Minnie Driver is excited to discuss her pregnancy and all things baby; all that is, except for the identity of the father, although she does shoot down a rumor! The 38-year-old actress and musician, who doesn’t want to know the sex of her baby, spoke with The Independent — but not before devouring a cheese sandwich (it’s her biggest pregnancy craving, indulged at 11:30 am daily).
This was an unplanned pregnancy, but it’s been very happily received by everyone. Which is great. (smiles) It’s something I’ve wanted to do my whole life; I can’t believe I’ve waited this long.
While Minnie has continued to stay mum on the father of her child, she let a few details slip out. He’s English, "sort of in the same business" as her, and is "really busy." Two things he isn’t: The Easter Bunny, as Minnie has previously claimed, or Craig Zolezzi, her San Francisco-based musician friend.
Craig’s not the dad! He’s my great friend and he’s been so cool about it. I want to shield the baby’s dad as much as I can because it wasn’t his choice to get roped into all this stuff. It’ll come out in time and there’ll be some other bump people will be interested in and I’ll have this baby and get on with my life.

Minnie revealed and she and her mystery man have no plans to tie the knot — at least not any time soon. For now, they’re more concerned with impending parenthood.
Definitelynot in the near future. It’s not important to me. I don’t think a pieceof paper lends itself to the idea of being a good parent and I want tobe a good parent.
Another choice Minnie has debated is whether she will have the baby in the UK, where she is from, or in the US, where she currently works on The Riches. She hasn’t yet made a final decision.
A big part of me wants my child to be English. My family are here[in the UK] and I’m sure I’ll move back here one day. It’s just thatmy work, and the opportunities I’ve had, have been so varied andwonderful in the States that I’ve just followed my nose really.
There’san ease living in America, and you’re judged far more harshly inBritain for your artistic endeavors. But, obviously politically, inAmerica, it’s a … bloody mess.

I assume she meant roped into the “media hype.” — meaning he isn’t an actor. I get that. I like how she is handling the press- very cool and self-assured. i hate when people focus all of the attention on the dad when she has made it clear that she is having this baby “alone.” They have obviously worked this situation out and I think that should be respected. Now let’s talk about something important like what she can name baby driver

I was wondering the SAME thing! I agree that it really is none of our business, but the fact that she is having fun with this ‘mystery’ makes it all that much more intriguing!
Either way, I love Minnie and wish her all the happiness she could hope for!

To go with Driver, I think it should be at least three syllables, not a verb or a regular noun, and not too unusual. Ideally, if it has a nickname, the nickname should be at least two syllables.
Out of the top hundred names for 2006, some good choices would be:
Elliott, Sebastian, Theodore,
Caroline, Elizabeth, Gabriella, Natalie, Rebecca, Sophia, or Victoria

I hope she did mean the “media hype”. My son’s father tried to act like the didn’t “ask for all this” but it takes two to tango. I dealt with it better before our son was born. After the baby was here, I didn’t understand how he could just abandon his own child and that HURT no matter if I knew I could do it alone or not! Minnie seems very strong. Best wishes to her!

Man, she cannot do ANYTHING without whipping it into some sort of media deal, can she?
I know this is cutting against the trend, but Minnie sort of drives me nuts. I was in Boston when the entire Good Will Hunting thing happened, and when she allowed everyone to think that he’d dumped her on Oprah — well, a lot of us were pretty hacked off, because we knew he’d mainly broken it off with her due to her CONSTANTLY inviting photographers to “catch” them on dates. It was driving him nuts, he was still a pretty low-key guy then.
Which is why this entire “ooooh, I have a mystery baby daddy!” thing is freaking stupid. If she didn’t want to say who it is, then she’d Jodie Foster it and just not answer. But nooooo. She’s drawing it out with little hints dropped here and there, and “it will come out eventually”. I don’t for a second believe she’s protecting anyone’s privacy, I think she’s realized she’s got a good nine months of storyline in this “who’s the daddy” idiocy. And damn if she’s not going to draw it out.
Ironically, I think she’s a pretty good actress. But as a person? Nyet.
