Matthew Fox hopes to move family to Oregon…eventually
Lost and Speed Racer actor Matthew Fox, 41, spoke about the possibility of relocating his family in the future. Matthew’s television series Lost is filmed in Hawaii so it made sense to move his wife Margherita Ronchi, an Italian model who was his college sweetheart, and his two children, 10-year-old daughter Kyle, and 7-year-old son Byron, to Hawaii as well. Matthew explains:
I’ve been living in Hawaii for almost four years now, so it’s not really paradise any more, man. Throwing snowballs on a mountain top is now paradise. It’s been a good place for us, and for a while I was excited to get out of Los Angeles, but we won’t be staying after Lost is done.
Matthew also talked a little about the negative side of being in the public eye as a celebrity and how his family has been sheltered living in Hawaii from some of the paparazzi craziness.
Being in Hawaii has also been beneficial in that I really don’t like the whole paparazzi thing in my daily life, or photographs of my kids and that type of thing. It does happen but it’s very rare. I think if I was living in Los Angeles it’d be more difficult for me. There’s not a lot of paparazzi who want to do the 2,500-mile trek into the south Pacific for a shot of me walking on the beach.
Working on Speed Racer in Germany I was barely recognized at all. The Germans really don’t give a shit, man! They might notice you, but they’re gonna pretend like they don’t, which is cool. I like that.

Matthew’s brothers and their young children live in Oregon and hesays Margherita and himself have been discussing the idea of eventuallymoving closer to their extended family.
We’vebeen talking about moving to Oregon for a while, so whenever things gettough, I just keep Oregon in my sights. I enjoy fishing, hiking andskiing, and the mountains and fresh air and all these things areavailable pretty easily in Oregon without having to drive a longdistance.
I’m really excited to figure all that out, but it’s still a couple of years away, so I’m just enjoying life right now.

I love Matthew! Lost is probably one of the greatest shows ever and I am a diehard fan, so it’s nice to see that he’s so down to earth and normal. He’s a wonderful actor, and so handsome

I moved from California to Portland 4 years ago, though at times I miss California, Oregon is just as gorgeous!! I second that Cheyenne!

I live in Oregon (the Capital) and even though I complain it is boring, I remember that I boat, camp, hike, and go to the coast every summer and play in the mountains every winter! Oregon is beautiful..Portland is a very fun town with alot to offer. Oh..and..um.. I am a HUGE Matthew Fox fan so I think he should move here!

See this is what gets me is how celebrities gripe about paparazzi attention they get but are living smack dab in the middle of all of it. I love how he actually TRIES to stay out of all the paparazzi drama, and let his kids have normal lives! And it’s funny how he says Hawaii isn’t paradise anymore…it’s weird to hear but you know after a while it probably does wear off.

I’m from L.A. but went to the University of Oregon in Eugene and loved my time there so so much. The PNW is beautiful and a great place to raise a family I think.
