Jon Voight says daughter Angelina ‘looks very happy’
Veteran actor Jon Voight, 69, spoke to People Thursday evening at a DVD release event for Clint Eastwood’s Dirty Harry film franchise in West Hollywood. Jon commented that daughter Angelina Jolie, 32, "looks very happy now." When looking at recent photos of Angelina and partner Brad Pitt, 44, from the Cannes Film Festival, Jon joked around adding "very heavy!" to his daughter’s description saying:
She looks like she’s having a couple of babies.
Although Angelina and her father’s relationship has had its share of ups and downs, she recently disclosed that they have been working to repair their relationship saying:
We are going to try to get to know each other and maybe try not to be this daddy and daughter, but to be there for each other as friends in the coming years.
When questioned whether or not, he and his daughter would be speaking this summer, Jon replied:
I’m sure we will, yeah.
At the DVD release party, Clint Eastwood had something to say when it came to Angelina as well. He is directing Angelina in his next movie called Changeling. Clint complimented Angelina saying:
She’s a great performer. Unfortunately because of the media flurry that’s around her, sometimes people take her for granted. But she’s a fabulous talent.
Angelina and Brad’s twin babies are due this summer and they will be joining big brothers and sisters Maddox Chivan, 6 ½, Pax Thien, 4 ½, Zahara Marley, 3 ½, and Shiloh Nouvel, 2.

That’s great that Jon and Angelina are working on their relationship. I’m sure he wants to get to know his grandchildren.

I’m happy jon and angelina are talking again, he loves her and she loves him, and he is her only living parent now. It will be nice for him to meet his grandkids and be part of their lives

I’m happy to hear that father & daughter are trying to repair their relationship. I know the estrangement must’ve felt awful since becoming a Grandpa.

I don’t think anybody know exactly went down but Jon and Angie. But from what I heard, Voight made some very hurtful comments about Angelina on TV around the time she adopted Maddox, and may (?) have tried to sabotage Maddox’s adoption. This is pure heasay, but if that is the case, I can see where Angelina would be very, very upset. She has been a wonderful mother to Maddox and he is everything in the world to her.
But I hope they patch up their relationship, at least for the children’s sake. Children need to know their grandparents and grandparents need to have a chance to spoil their grandchildren.

She says their relationship is gonna be a friendship not a father/daughter relationship; so I doubt he will have an active role in the kids life. Those kids don’t to feel the way he made Angie and brother felt.

I think it is difficult for Angelina to trust people outside of her unit. She must be worried he will talk to the press about her private life and her children.

BTW, what happened, that we know of, is 1) her father left her mother when she and her bro were young and didn’t play a part in raising them 2) said Ange had mental problems in an interview and 3) didn’t know Zahara’s name… I’m sure there are many details we will never know.

If folks really believe that the only reason she cut him off was for calling her mental, then its easy to see why they always blame Angie. Go read her interviews from 2002/2003. He said worst things to Access HW but they did NOT air it because they and him would have been sued for slander.
Go on the US govt website on international adoptions and read up about adoptions from Cambodia. The process and qualifications, then you will understand that what he did put Maddox in jepody of being sent to a foster home after being taken from an orphange.
How come no one says anything about his relationship with Jamie his other child ONLY Angelina. I guess Jamie isn’t famous enough. Jamie doesn’t/didn’t have a relationship with him, he dropped his last name as well. In MC last yr, he talked about how JV treated his mother/and the kids but still ONLY Angie gets the blame.
Many other celebs don’t have great relationship with their parents; but i guess since said parent IS NOT an Oscar winner who is always in the news about NOT being part of the “star’s” life they get a pass BUT Angie DOESN’T.

There are two sides to every story, and unless any of us are jon voight’s kids, we don’t know what kind of parent he was. Angelina’s no saint either, so i’m sure they are both to blame in their problems, and no parent/child is perfect, as she will know with all the kids she has now. It’s good they are talking again, he is her only living parent and it will be nice for him to meet the grandkids. Shiloh hapens to look a lot like him too
