Naomi Judd says she enjoys being ‘completely present’ with her grandkids
‘Over the river and through the woods, to grandmothers house we go’ is almost certainly a popular refrain in the Judd household. Except instead of a river Wynonna Judd’s children — Elijah, 13, and Grace, turning 12 next month — need only to climb a hill in order to reach their ‘Mawmaw,’ country singer Naomi Judd. Having her grandchildren so close by has its benefits, Naomi recently noted.
They know where the key is hidden. The other day, Elijah and Grace came over on their four-wheelers through the woods, and I was almost late to the airport because I stopped to make them hot chocolate. It’s that moment where you’re completely present with them…When I got to the airport, I was almost late. The guy there knows me, and said, ‘You have never been late in 20 years.’ And I said, ‘Life is more important than show business.’
Speaking of, from the sound of it, anyone holding out hope that Elijah and Grace will carry on the family tradition of a career in the entertainment industry is in for a disappointment. When asked if she foresees a career in show business for her grandchildren, Naomi, 62, answered "absolutely not." She added,
No, not in today’s culture. The culture is superficial and celebrities get rewarded for bad behavior. Our culture needs heroes and sheroes.
Elijah and Grace are Wynonna’s children with ex-husband Arch Kelley III.

I always liked the judd family. Wish ashley and her husband would have a baby, ashley was such a beautiful child, I would love to see a baby of her’s.

The Judds live out in Leipers Fork, not far from where we used to live in Brentwood, TN. They came “into town” to Brentwood to shop, so they could frequently be seen together. Their property is beautiful, easily visible to the public (although we locals left them alone out of neighborly respect) and the grandkids are literally separated from Naomi’s property by a small white fence. She has always been very “hands on” with them all of their lives from what I’ve observed and my former massage therapist (who is also Wynonna’s) said they are a very close-knit family. That quality is so wonderful to see in today’s fast-paced, sometimes scattered, mobile society!
