"I just LOVE him and love the fact that he has turned into such a wonderful actor, partner and father. Good for him. The pic with the two of them together just melts my heart. My hubby looks at me like that still and I treasure it because some women wish they could find a good man who will still look at them the same way they did years before."

Sadie Sandler breaks pregnancy news to dad

Tags: Dads, News, Quotes

80528a1_sandler_a_b_gr_02cbbjpgHow do you tell comedian Adam Sandler that he is going to be a dad again?  That was his wife Jackie’s dilemma recently when she found out she was expecting the couple’s second child.  Her solution? She had their 2-year-old daughter Sadie Madison reveal the news, Adam shared on Live with Regis and Kelly today.

She did it so cute. And we had no idea this was going to happen. I came home at night and [Jackie] kept saying ‘Sadie wants to give you a present,’ and normally Sadie falls asleep around 8. It was like quarter of 9 and I just got back from working. And I said ‘I’ll be in, in a minute.’ And she’s like, ‘But Sadie wants to give…’ ‘Alright, alright,’ and I didn’t know what was going on.

And then Sadie hands me a little something, like a gift. And I was ‘Aww, that’s nice Sadie, thank you.’ And then Jackie kept saying ‘Open it up, open it up.’ And I open it up and it was one of those pregnancy [tests] and I was like ‘Woowww.’

Adam, 41, and Jackie, 33, expect their second child in November.

I just told my husband this week :-D I actually got the idea from one of the celeb stories on this site (I just don’t remember who the celeb was lol). I went to Target and picked out a pair of little boy socks and a pair of little girl socks. I had them waiting on my husband’s seat when I picked him up from the airport (he’d been away on business and I just couldn’t wait till he came home to take the test!) and he looked at them and I said “I thought I’d better get one of each just in case.” He loved it!

Anyone watched MTV Movie Awards? Adam wore a shirt with a picture of Jackie and Sadie on it while doing a tribute to… himself :D

  4. babyboopie Says:

The day I found out I was pregnant, I waited for my ex-boyfriend to come home and when he came in, I had cooked a special meal for us both and I was so nervous, when we sat down at the table and I told him ‘ Je suis enceinte’- french for i am pregnant. and he just looked at me for the longest while and he wasn’t happy.
But now my son is here, I wouldn’t change him for the world although his father chooses not to be in his life.

  5. sil Says:

i was planning to make a surprise when he came back from work, like hanging balloons and maybe give him a gift, like a baby bottle or something, but both times i couldn’t wait for him to come back at night so I phone him as soon as i read the pregnancy test :)

  6. A&BMommy Says:

I did something very similar to what Adam and Jackie did….I had my older daughter, who had just turned 2, give my husband the pregnancy test and she said “I’m going to be a big sister!” :-)

  7. Cindy Says:

I had the words “I’m pregnant” scrolling accoss the computer when he came home from work! My husband loved it.

  8. Jess Says:

We stood in the bathroom, going back & forth because I saw a 2nd line & he didn’t. Before he picked it up to throw it away, I didn’t see it either, but when the light hit it just right, I saw a very faint line. He swore it wasn’t there.

We have a 6 month old. I was right. :)

  9. Heather Says:

Thats a cute story. And congrats MB!

Oooh! I like the screensaver idea!

My husband actually got to break the news to me. We had been TTC for about six months and I gave up on charting the last month due to graduating college and moving. Just didn’t have time and I was getting frustrated. Anyway, I felt odd for a few days, so I woke up one morning and hubby told me to break out the digital test I had been saving.

So I peed on it and laid it on the bathroom counter. The phone rang and I went to answer it. We were trying to work something out with our landlord so it was an important call. Not two seconds later, my husband comes running into the bedroom with the stick in his hand. He shoves it in my face and I see the word, “pregnant.” Needless to say the phone got dropped and I jumped into hubby’s arms. It was an awesome way to be told that I was pregnant!

  11. Jenna Says:

After suffering 2 miscarriages early in our marriage, I was able to tell my husband I was pregnant with our son with a pair of baby soccer cleats and a baby jersey. He loved it. Our son is now 7 months old and we have another baby on the way (no way planned, but completely blessed). For this one I think I was in more shock than anyone and when I came home from my doctor’s appointment (just a routine check up for a stomach virus–or so I thought) I had a blank stare on my face, and he thought there was something wrong. I told him it was nothing to worry about…I was just pregnant. He literally passed out that time…not what we expected in life, but what we’re blessed with in life. New baby coming in about 5 months.

  12. tan Says:

That was the cutiest way ever!I’ve always been too anxious to just show a test.I always just open my big mouth, lol.

  13. BostonMom Says:

I bought my toddler daughter an “I’m a Big Sister” t-shirt and had her wear it when we picked my husband up at the airport after a business trip to France. Of course, he was so excited to see her he did not notice her shirt. When we were in the elevator to the parking garage, I told him that she was upset because he hadn’t looked at her new shirt yet. He was totally surprised and happy :) Much different than when we were expecting our first child and I made him run into the bathroom to see the positive test lying on the counter!

  14. Sarah Says:

When I found out I was pregnant I hung a baby outfit on our bedroom door and made a paper sign saying “Someone is going to be a Daddy…”

My husband walked in from work the next morning to find that and was so Happy!

  15. Ashley Says:

With our first child, my husband was there when I took the test so no surprise. I found out right before Mother’s Day this year that we’re expecting #2 so I went out and bought a onesie that says “My Dada is #1″ on it and I wrapped it up and gave it to him when he got home from work.

  16. MB Says:

Thank you Heather! We are sooooo excited! This will be our first.

  17. Lesha Says:

My husband says he knew I was pregnant before I even tested. But I took the test in our second bathroom while my husband showered. The line was so faint I almost didn’t think it was positive. I took it in and just showed my husband through the shower door. His response “take another”. 8 tests over two days and we finally believed it was true.

  18. Amber S Says:

I took a picture of my test and made a pretty card with photo shop that didn’t look like anything special on the front and when you open it there is the picture of the test, my husband didn’t expect it at all. We were trying so he wasn’t shocked that I was, but the card and my mood gave no clues. So he was surprised and loved it.

  19. Bobbi Says:

With our first my husband came home after working really late, and offered me a beer from the kitchen, and when I said no. He said “knocked up”? I said yes. He told me he was thinking that on the way home, because I’m never late :)

  20. brannon Says:

i went for a routine appt to have my birth control refilled. Surprise. no need! I asked my partner to stop on the way home to pick up my prescription. Unfortunately, the pharmacist had some kind of question and asked him if generic prenatal vitamins were ok until they got in the other kind. He told her she had the wrong prescription … she didn’t. :) (don’t worry babyboopie – he wasn’t amused either. broke off our engagement and moved out a week later b/c he didn’t want the stigma of baby before marriage — supposed to get married later that year. guess its a better stigma to walk out :) I wouldn’t change anything either (except maybe my taste in men :)

  21. Dana Says:

All of the stories are so cute!

I didn’t get to tell my hubby with either, really. With our first, he had been out of town for about a week. The morning after he came home, I told him that I was late (about 12 hours, but I used to be extremely regular). He said that was cool. We were not planning to have a family at that time at all. I couldn’t believe how okay with it he was. He was the one who went and bought the test. He made me go into a gas station bathroom because he couldn’t wait. I had to sit in the car with the test and read it with him. He was so excited, and it took me a little bit of time to come around.

With our second, I wasn’t regular anymore and never knew when my period was going to start. One morning my husband asked if she should go and get a pregnancy test for me. I asked why. He went and bought one anyway and when it turned out positive, he said, “I knew it.” He had expected for about a week that I was pregnant, based on my moods.

  22. Becky Says:

To tell my hubby, I took all of his boxers out of his underwear drawer and replased them with diapers. He loved it. He was totally suprised. I almost blurted it out a few times, but I am proud of myself for zipping my lips for once and not ruining the suprise.

  23. Snow Says:

My hubby was in Hawaii on a job when I found out during an ultrasound of my kidneys, (we were told we couldn’t have anymore!!!) so I called him on his cell and told him I needed to talk to him and he needed to get down, the machine he was standing on was 40 ft in the air, and he asked why-you pregnant??? I said yes, and he started screaming to all the guys he was working on that we were having another baby! It was so exciting!

  24. Baking Fairy Says:

I found out I was pregnant the week before Valentine’s Day so I waited until VDay to tell my husband. On VDay I baked alphabet cookies so I could spell out the message:

    “Roses are pink.
    Violets are blue.
In October our baby is due!”

His reaction? He laughed. It took him a minute to actually get it then he was thrilled.

  25. Maddie Says:

Baking Fairy, I love that idea! its so cute.

  26. heather Says:

I thought I was pregnant and took a test about two days before my period. I thought I saw a faint line but I wasn’t really sure. The next day I took another one and this time there was something there but it was still too light, so I didn’t want to say anything. Now the day I am supposed to start, I took another test and there it was. Not only was I pregnant but it was Father’s Day. I couldn’t believe it. We had a family gathering for Father’s Day and I went up to my husband and pulled him aside. I took out the test and said “Happy Father’s Day”. He looked at it and looked at me shocked. I said it again and said we are going to have a baby. Our daughter is now 2 and we have been trying for baby 2. I have already bought a shirt with the I’m a Big Sister (because it was on sale). I can’t really think of a better way than to have our first born tell him about the second to be born. Hopefully I won’t have to wait much longer.
