Regarding the birth certificates for stillborns: I would say that anything that helps the family cope with such tremendous grief, should be made available. The idea of a woman having to deliver a child that she KNOWS is stillborn has got to be one of the most devastating situations anyone can go through — however I personally can’t begin to understand why someone would want to keep a copy of a stillborn child’s birth or death certificate – what kind of comfort can a piece of paper bring to the parents, and why should we have the government legislating this?

I applaud the effort for stillborn babies to be given birth certificates.
