"I just LOVE him and love the fact that he has turned into such a wonderful actor, partner and father. Good for him. The pic with the two of them together just melts my heart. My hubby looks at me like that still and I treasure it because some women wish they could find a good man who will still look at them the same way they did years before."

"If you ask Violet what I do, she'll say she remembers me bowing on stage when I did a show in New York, and so she'll say, 'My mom sometimes will bow on stage and sometimes she gets her hair and makeup done.' It's a great job!"

NASCAR crew chief Greg Zipadelli welcomes his own little driver

Tags: Births, Dads, Quotes

Greg Zipadelli, 41, NASCAR crew chief for Tony Stewart, is a dad for the third time after his wife Nan gave birth to son Gianni Gregory Zipadelli on Wednesday, June 11th.

The couple had scheduled a Cesarean section for Monday, June 9th, so that there would be no conflict between the birth and Greg having to leave for the race at Pocono Raceway on Sunday, June 15th.  However, that didn’t go as planned, and "it was close," Greg shared.

We were supposed to go in Monday morning, and they called and said they would rather wait until Tuesday. Between Monday and Wednesday, they had 21 babies and they didn’t have any beds. So we were packing our bags and they asked us if we could hold off another day and come in Wednesday morning.

Greg explained that he immediately thought, "This is not going to work out very well for us." Despite his fears, everything came together in time and "the baby is really healthy."

It’s just a shame I had to leave to come here.

Gianni joins siblings Zachary Charles, 6, and Elwina Sophia, 2. The pregnancy was announced in March.

Congrats to Greg and his family! Zach wished his father a Happy Father’s Day on the TNT broadcast on Sunday, he is such a cutie!

  2. Jackie Says:

Congratulations! The only thing that I’m confused about is did they schedule a c-section for work conflicts? Is that accurate? If so, I think personally that’s part of this whole c-section craze. People request them even when they don’t necessarily need them. But I guess everyone makes there own choices. Not mine.

  3. MB Says:

I don’t think that’s soooo terrible, Jackie. I feel bad for those dads who have to miss out on the birth of their child because they absolutely must be at their job. I mean, with jobs like that the husband can’t really take off 2 weeks to be ready for when the baby might come, and then also take off time when the baby is born to be around to help out.

  4. Kelli Says:

Yeahhh for Greg and his wife!! They had a planned c-section (maybe for other reason) but at least because I am sure Greg wanted to be there for the birth of his child. He has to be at the track probably by like Thursday and then he is gone until after the race Sunday. So in that case, it is easier to plan the c-section and ensure that he is there to bond with the child before he has to leave to do his job.
I don’t understand why people are so critical of c-sections. No one is making anyone have them so who cares what method someone else picks to have their child?

  5. Sanja Says:

Kelli -maybe because my doctor said that with c-sections (oposed a vaginal hospital birth) the risk to both mother and baby is 10 times greater.

  6. Shawn Hansen Says:

    Congrats Nan and Zip.
