Julia Roberts motivated by motherhood to produce Kit Kittredge

The decision to assume the role of executive producer for Kit Kittredge: An American Girl was easy, Julia Roberts said, because of her role as mom to 3 ½-year-old twins Hazel Patricia and Phinnaeus ‘Finn’ Walter, along with 1-year-old Henry Daniel.  Speaking from the red carpet at the film’s New York City premiere last night, Julia, 40, said it was important to her that the American Girl brand is exposed to "a bigger audience."  She added,

With my kids, the kind of stuff that’s thrown at them to buy and be influenced by, this is something we feel influences and teaches in a really positive, interesting way.

Jada Pinkett Smith — whose daughter Willow Camille Reign, 7 ½, appears in the film — said that while having children in the entertainment industry is "not easy" she’s happy they have she and husband Will Smith to guide them.  Calling motherhood "a very difficult job" and "one of the toughest hats" she wears, Jada said she’s both "proud and happy" that Willow and brother Jaden Christopher Syre, 10 next month, "get to have their own roles and accomplish their own goals" as actors. Jada, 36, added,

I’m actually happy that this is something they want to do because it’s something we know well.
