Alison Sweeney’s “heart cries out” for little girl clothes
Don’t look to Alison Sweeney to hold out for a delivery surprise. Due the third week of January with her second child, Alison says she’ll find out whether it’s a boy or a girl during a "high-tech ultrasound at the third month" of her pregnancy.
With such urgency in her need to know, you’d think the 31-year-old The Biggest Loser host would have a definite preference either way — but you’d be wrong! "The whole experience of having a little girl, I’d love that," Alison said, lamenting that whenever she shops for her 3-year-old son Benjamin Edward her "heart cries out for all those adorable little girls clothes." She added, however, that "I love having a boy, and I would definitely not mind having another." Unlike his mom, Ben appears to have a definite preference — but not of the human variety. Alison tells People,
When we showed him a picture of the ultrasound and asked him, ‘Would you like a little brother or sister?’ he said ‘Can it be a helicopter?’ So … we’re working on it.
Alison revealed that although she’s experiencing some queasiness during the afternoon hours and battling an aversion to chicken, her favorite Greek yogurt hasn’t turned her off just yet. She said,
I put sliced almonds and cinnamon and strawberries in my yogurt with a little Splenda, and it’s so good.
Alison and her husband Dave Sanov were married in 2000.

I hope she has a girl too! I’m due the week before her- but won’t find out what we’re having, I want a surprise

Aversion to chicken seems to be a popular one. I certainly was (and I had a girl)

Ben sounds like such a cutie! “Can it be a helicopter?” Hehe!

I completely understand the need to know. I have a one year old girl who has 3 older brothers! But as far as I know, there is no hightech ultrasound that can tell you in the 3rd month the gender. The only way to know that early is by CVS. From my days as a student I seem to remember that embryologically, the external genitalia does not visually physically differentiate until 18 weeks, sometimes at 16 weeks a very experienced dr could tell. My biggest worry was being told I was having a girl by ultrasound, and having a boy at delivery. If it was a 4th boy we would certainly welcome him lovingly but I was afraid that if I spent my pregnancy thinking it was a girl and THEN it was a boy, I would have disappointment and shock as my feelings upon meeting him.

xo, I’m by no means a baby development expert but I think genitalia begins to form in the 3rd month and a high-tech ultrasound could possibly distinguish. I know at 9 weeks, testes/ovaries have developed. But this is just what I’ve read!
My sister-in-law is due with a boy in October and while it’s so much fun buying the cute boy clothes, the girl clothes are just so adorable and pretty! Haha, so I know how she feels!

I’m due 3 weeks after her. My husband is trying to convince me to find out so we can “plan”, but I have always wanted a delivery surprise. Ben’s quote made us both laugh. And xo, my mom could totally relate to you: ultrasound told her she was having a boy, so she was very surprised when i popped out, haha.

xo, I have a friend who is 14 weeks pregnant and just found out by US that she is having a boy. So she is only a little over 3 months. The new 3D and 4D ultrasounds are really great. Maybe she is getting one of them.

Ben is so cute, can’t wait to see the next one. I wonder if she is actually having a girl based on her quote, I remember Katie Holmes saying she didn’t know the gender but craved pink the whole time.

I can see the desire. I have 3 nephews. Shopping for them just isn’t as much fun as shopping for my cousin’s daughter (whom I actually refer to as my niece because I don’t have one and I watch her everyday anyways so were close)! My mom keeps telling me I better give her a granddaughter someday and I keep explaining that it’s not really up to me!! But she loves her grandsons she just longs for that granddaughter – grandmother relationship. Who knows maybe someday I can give her that wish!
I don’t watch Days but I do know her character had twins (boy/girl) and perhaps maybe that’s made her want a girl even more now that she gets to play with one on set everyday!

I can understand how she feels. I don’t have any kids yet, but I already crave having a daughter. I think it has to do with my very close relationship with my mom
I desperately want one!!
I would love to have a boy. I’m very close with my nephews and my brothers (they are older than me) so I know how much fun boys can be… but there is just something about a daughter

Just tried that combo- yoghurt, strawberries, cinnamon and honey (instead of splenda). IS IS SOOOO GOOD

I know exactly what she means. I am due the week after her and I am finding out the sex as soon as I can. We already have a girl and although I would like a boy, I wouldn’t mind another girl either.

my sister was told she was having a boy, so we bought tons of cool boy outfits- like lil baseball and karate uniforms, camo, lil miniature man stuff-
and surprised her with them after she gave birth- and was then informed she had my niece…
who wore them anyway… but still lol
so you can “find out” the gender early and still be surprised-
