Will Smith: “The kids can do anything they want”

Tags: Dads, News, Quotes

Smith_family_1 For Will Smith’s children Trey, 15, Jaden Christopher Syre, 10 next month, and Willow Camille Reign, 7 ½, the path to their dad’s heart goes straight through his funny bone.  In a new interview with USA Today, the 39-year-old actor shared his theory that "as long as your characters are harmless, or in pain, they can be funny." In turn, Will said, his children are given some leeway when they’re being particularly humorous.  He said,

The kids can do anything they want, as long as Daddy thinks it’s funny.  And artistically, that’s where you need to be, too. You have to find the humor in things.

Willow and Jaden are Will’s children with wife, actress Jada Pinkett Smith; Trey is Will’s child from a previous relationship.

It’s funny how the majority of celebrities try to keep their children’s lives private and away from the showbiz, or at least try to live a more normal life. Will’s kids on the other hand are already actors.

I’m mixed up here. I like it and don’t like it at the same time.

  2. Natasha Says:

I agree Bugs, its usually the other way around, but I think even if they weren’t Will’s kids they’d still be in showbiz. Jaden (I’ve never seen Willow act) is a very natural actor and did SO well in the Pursuit of Happyness :)

  3. lis Says:

I think the kids have a strong advantage here – and I’m not suggesting it in the manner of getting jobs (I know nothing about that). What I mean is, as both of their parents have spent many years in the entertainment industry, they’re obviously very familiar with it. Their parents are both very supportive of them as well. I think those together are the best recipe you could ask for when introducing a child to acting.

Also I think they’ve been doing a good job of keeping the children out of the public eye when they’re not acting.

  4. i think Says:

Trey( Willard Carroll Smith) is his son with ex wife Sheree Zampino. In other posts the ID is ex wife; so I dont see why it is ‘child from previous relationship’ here.

Also CBB, how come you all write out all the middles names of kids vs jsut their 1st names? Like it is Jaden Chris Syre & Willow Camille Reign; but for Willard Carroll Smith you just have ‘Trey’?

  5. Deb Says:

I thought that Will was married to Trey’s mother and it wasn’t just a “relationship” as it says in the post?!?

  6. brooke Says:

Jaden is a very good actor and willow seems to want to be one too. I think a lot of celebritty children often wanna follow their parents footsteps rumer willis, kate hudson, lenny kravitz daughter models and acts, lisa marie presley’s daughter too, I think when your raised in that life you sometimes want it. John travolta daughter is doing a movie with him too soon
