Helena Bonham Carter’s daughter rides in Silver Cross style

Helena Bonham Carter’s 6-month-old daughter rode in high style while out for a walk with mom in London on Sunday. Helena, 42, pushed a Silver Cross Balmoral pram in midnight navy ($2995), a classic carriage used by British royalty for generations. Helena and her partner, director Tim Burton, are also parents to son Billy Ray, 4 ½.

My dream carriage:) Didn’t realize they could be so huuuuge, though. She looks so comfy in her giganto-stroller.

  7. rashida Says:

    Yay Helena ! gr8 pics :)

  8. Abbey Says:

wow, that stroller cost about half as much as my car.

I love Helena Bonham Carter and her daughter is just all sorts of delightfulness! She’s so cute and chunky!

  9. Sapphire Says:

Does this baby even have a name yet? I know from prior news articles I’ve read, that the baby hadn’t been named yet.

  10. Philippa Says:

i really love that old fashioned pram, it looks fantastic! i’m so curious about her daughter’s name, i wonder when they will announce it…

  11. Nancy Says:

Wow — I don’t even use a stroller, let alone a monster like that!

I can’t imagine trying to get around easily with that —
I have always used slings and soft front and back carriers for my now 9 month old — Lugging around something like that seems crazy (and very expensive).

  12. Janis Says:

Hello! I love this pram! Is it as huge as it appears? Could I even wheel this into a shop? Does it fold up? Baby seems to love it too!

  13. ekaterina Says:

love the pram! no fading into the crwod with that one! wow 3000.00 eek
but where do you put your shopping? lol
do we know the babys name yet?

  14. sasha Says:

    that pram is epic

  15. Robin Says:

What a little cherub! Love those cheeks! I wish that we knew what her name is…

  16. Jane Says:

I love everything about this picture! The carriage is wonderful and the baby’s expression is one of “hey, look at me in this special carriage!” Also, I love Helena’s outfit- looks very comfortable and pretty.

  17. ma74 Says:

That’s almost the same one I had when I was little!

  18. Willow Says:

Nice, vintage looking carriage…I would love one of those but I hope she has a smaller one for navigating thru stores!

  19. kendrajoi Says:

I love the pram, but it has to just be for fun- it looks so impractical- and HUGE! The baby looks cute- I wish we knew her name!

  20. Leslee Says:

    Coolest stroller ever!

  21. Tina Says:

    So cute!!

  22. tan Says:

now thats riding in style.she seemed to really enjoy that.what a cutie!

  23. Stéph Says:

Wow That is one big stroller!!

Does the little girl finally have a name? I can’t believe that at 6 months she’s still unnamed.

  24. Snow Says:

I am still so curious as to what that cutey’s name is! Any ideas?

  25. kaitlyn Says:

She is so cute, I can’t believe we still don’t know her name. (That pram might be bigger than my car!)

  26. Ben'sMom Says:

How can you fit that thing down the aisles in stores and restaurants? It is pretty though, but HUGE

  27. Jess Says:

I know it’s been said, but I can’t get over ow big that stroller is! Ours is just a basic one but I can’t steer it well enough to not hit things at least once we we’re out. I’d run over people with that thing! lol

  28. Meg Says:

That baby is TOTALLY Helena. You can see her in her daughter.

  29. jo.ann Says:

BIGGEST baby stroller I’ve ever seen

  30. Genevieve's_mummy Says:

i’m 99.9% sure that you only have 6 weeks after the birth to register a baby in England (thats what ive always been told) so i’m pretty sure that the wee darling WILL have a name :o )
as for the pram, with this particular style, there is a wee trapdoor type thing that you can open for when they sit up for their legs to go (when they are toddlers and have long legs that would be uncomfortable sitting straight ahead) . My mum used to put her shopping in it and said you could get loads in it because of the shape of the bottom :o )

I think its gorgeous and its on my list of what to try next as a pramaholic for baby number 3!!!

  31. Amanda Says:

seriously release this kids name!I’m sure she has one bc isnt there a certain time period you have to give the hospital a name for the birth certificate? Why wont they say her name, what harm is it going to do?and I think 3000 dollars is absoultely RIDCIULOUS for what it simply put a stroller!Julianne Moore has a McLaren volo that only cost around 290$ and that was just fine for her kids,I’m sorry to say but Helena always look like some homeless bag lady with the way she dresses…..

  32. Allison Says:

I heard the baby is named but Helena and Tim just haven’t released it.. she’s a cutie!

  33. Kristin Says:

Oh Lordy, that’s the most ridiculous thing I’ve ever seen! :) I think I could ride in it.

  34. Kirsty Says:

The baby is named, it has to be after 6 weeks in the UK. They must want to keep it private.

  35. Ash Says:

I think the baby is named Emily Kim.

  36. stephanie Says:

Now THAT’S posh! :D It must be a bitch to navigate though, I always see mums struggling with prams half that size.

  37. brannon Says:

For some reason I thought I read that too bc they wanted the same number of letters as Billy Ray. Not sure where I heard that though… I just remember it surprising me bc it didn’t seem to fit

  38. tink1217 Says:

gorgeous baby girl! LOVE the pram too!

  39. Danica Says:

She must have another stroller for taking into buildings, etc. But this one is totally cool. Great for outside walks. The baby can sure stretch out nice if she gets tired.

  40. Jen Says:

Oh my gosh, I wish someone would push me around in a stroller like that sometimes. that looks so comfy! :D

  41. Vanessa Says:

That thing is huge – here honey – put the stroller in the mini-van and let’s go for a walk.

  42. Colleen Says:

That baby is adorable!!!! Ummm, I love Helena and all, and I know being weird is her thing, but what the hell is going on with her hair???? I know moms to babies throw the hair up and go, but is she kidding me? Reminds me of the “Sex and the City” episode where Carrie tells Burger that scrunchies are out of style….and Helena has like 4 in her hair. I’m at a loss.

  43. Katie Says:

I was on imdb.com checking the filmography for Helena and in her bio they have the baby’s name as Nell. I don’t know if it’s right or wrong, it’s just what I saw. With or without a name she’s a beautiful baby!

  44. Molly Says:

Kristin your post was funny !! I shall get this one for my DH when he gets tired from walking around the shops !!!

  45. Mia Says:

a baby HAS to be named after 6 weeks in the U.K.

I’m pretty sure the baby is named

    “Allegra Sophie.”

That’s what magazines in the U.K. were saying..

  46. Pencils Says:

Love the pram! My mom keeps wistfully talking about the lovely carriages she had for us–they weren’t as big as that pram, but they were easily big enough for two children and shopping in a pinch. And I like the idea too–I’ve always wanted a carriage, but now the bassinets that you can buy to attach to strollers are so small the baby will grow out of it in a couple of months and they usually cost a couple of hundred dollars. (Babies in my family run big, anyway.)

And I’m sure the baby has a name, they just haven’t released it yet. They’re a fun couple, I bet it’s an interesting name. I love the name Allegra, except now it’s more famous for being an allergy medicine than a pretty name for a little girl.

  47. Mandy Says:

    Sooooooooooooo adorable!

I, like everyone else, am anxious to hear what her name is.

But yeah, she’s such a sweetie.

And to the person mentioning Helena’s hair… I LOVE IT!

She’s always got the greatest hairstyles. They are different and unique.

  48. TINA Says:

NELL IS THE BABY GIRLS NAME.
    http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0000307/bio

  49. MB Says:

Ash where did you hear that?

Love how there are so many names out there for this girl haha

  50. Marie Says:

I love the pram, but it’s definitely not for me. I don’t see anything wrong with the way she dresses, it’s her style and she’s not hurting anyone :) I love that she hasn’t given her daughter’s name out, what’s so important about knowing it anyway? Her family information is a privilege, not a right :) Shes just too cute, I miss baby chub!

  51. FC Says:

Wow, that pram looks like it could be an off-road buggy the baby could drive! And Helena’s baby is darling, and I want to pinch those big round cheeks of hers. So cute!

  52. Beverley Says:

Almost $3000 for a stroller? Is it gold plated? Does it come with someone to push it around? What makes it worth $3000 and who in their right mind would waste their money like that? Your child will get there in a $100 stroller just as well.

As for the size of it, I grew up in Scotland and my parents had a similar looking pram that was about half the size and maybe cost 50 pounds back in the 70s and saw them through 3 kids. Back then, you used to leave the stroller, kid and all, outside when you went in to stores. Hopefully that doesn’t happen anymore, but I really don’t see that stroller working in any store situations.

  53. Krysta Says:

lol i think that stroller is a bit much

  54. Jasmine C. Says:

Holy that pram is huge! I don’t like it actually it too BIG!

  55. maria Says:

    Indiana Rose Burton!

  56. Janna Says:

“What makes it worth $3000 and who in their right mind would waste their money like that?”

For them to spend $3k on a stroller is equivalent to me spending $150 (assuming they only made $1M last year and I made $50k).

Doesn’t seem that unreasonable to me if you’ve got loads of excess cash.

  57. Beverley Says:

Just because you are rich doesn’t make it any less crazy to spend $3000 on a stroller. Having “excess cash” doesn’t mean that you should suspend using common sense. Not that long ago, Tom Cruise spend $10,000 on a dinner in a restaurant. That is ridiculous. Just because you have a lot of moolah doesn’t mean you can’t be sensible too. Was Tom Cruise any more “full” on a $10,000 dinner than he would have been for a $10 dinner? Would this kid not get there on a $150 stroller too? If I had “excess cash” I would buy a $150 stroller and donate the other $2,850 to a shelter or charity for helping underprivileged children.

  58. Lizzie Says:

The Silver Cross pram actually costs £800 British pounds which is only £2-300 more than a Bugaboo and, let’s be honest is far more durable and will last for generations to come. Helena’s pram looks like a vintage Silver Cross model so it probably cost less than that.
My cousin has one of these and has used it for each of her 3 children far more economical than purchasing a new pram/stroller for each child, which is what most people do these days! It is an absolute dream to push and never fails to receive a compliment as it is a British classic.
What does all this matter anyway?…as long as baby Burton and Helena are happy!!! You go gir1!!!

  59. Godiva Says:

That is definitely a stroller someone has when they don’t have to worry about NYC public transportation and going up and down the subway stairs. WOW — that could fit a whole family in there.

  60. Lizzie Says:

This pram can be seen in Helena’s ad campaign for her ‘Pantaloonies’ brand at the following website: http://www.helena-world.com/?p=40

  61. ang Says:

LOL what a fab ride. i remember when tori & dean had 1 with liam in london.i believe they may still have it coz i remember tori blogging on her myspace that it was shipped back to U.S. for them.mini-helena looks extremely comfy, almost as if she knows how damn cool she looks! btw, on the subject on children’s names,i believe christian bale’s daughter actually is called emmaline-they interviewed him on ET about a month ago re: the dark knight.

  62. Vlada Says:

    Aww how Posh.

  63. Devon Says:

If they’ve got the money to do so, why not? If I was able to afford that pram, for when I have kids, I would so be buying one. They are beautiful, and although they would “get there just as quickly” in a cheaper stroller, it’s going to last longer than a cheaper version, and stand the test of time. Something like that never goes out of style. As for Tom Cruise spending that much on a dinner, it was probably the most delicious dinner he’s ever eaten. Sometimes you need to splurge in life because we only get one shot at this. Would you want to go through life, never indulging yourself, but saying “I saved loads, but never spent it.” or would you rather leave this world knowing that you had a good time and enjoyed life. Not to say that you can’t enjoy life and be thrifty, but when you’ve got it and it’s not going to break the bank, do it.

That being said, their daughter is so cute!

  64. Heather Says:

All I can say is that Pram is so her!!

  65. Mandee Says:

Hey, to all the people out there lol. Her name is Indiana Rose :o

    xx

  66. Anoca Says:

I’d love to have a pram like hers but to use it as a bassinet at home, rather tha using it on the streets!

  67. Anocas Says:

You said it Janna and Devon. Besides many people nowadays buy more than one stroller, the normal now is having two or three, so if you count the total spent it’s not that much of a difference (imagine a Bugaboo Cameolon + a Maclaren Quest or Techno, or something like that…).

If I had the money they had I would help people for sure, but I would please myself too, one thing has nothing to do with the other. I could perfectly buy a Silver Cross Balmoral and use it as a bassinet (which for me would be the same of buying 2 pairs of jeans at GAP) and help many kids in Africa.

And, for the most part, it’s their money, it’s none of our business on what they spend it (lucky them!).

  68. Emily Says:

I personally love the pram – very HBC. BUT if this was Britney or Angelina or Jordon there would be outcry over the decadence.

Interesting how we judge / accept certain people.

  69. DLR Says:

omg, i love that pram! my family’s british and my parents had a big pram handed down to them. they used it on occasion but most of the time they used a little collapsible stroller. funny, the pictures of me in the pram have me all dressed up nattily like a prim english baby while the pictures of me in the stroller have me looking well, frumpy like dirty or whatever as if i’d been out mucking around in the sand and mud. too funny. alas the pram went to pram heaven when my cousin’s husband accidently squished it with his SUV in the garage (no one was it in, it was stored in the garage). so no family pram any more. :-(

  70. nikki Says:

its there money they can spend it on what they want, hell if i had it i would its awesome

  71. Sally Says Says:

I love DLR’s story of having a pram handed down!

I have one or two things that I’ve bought, hoping that someday my children will be able to use them and pass them on to my grandchildren….”heirloom pieces” I guess.

I don’t think there is anything wrong with spending money on something that could last for generations. Everything seems so disposable nowadays!

  72. kiki Says:

I love the pram and boy, they could also put their son in their if he so wished lol (we had our children together in the bed waggon just for laughs and the enjoyed it so much that would I have had the opportunity – and the fortune lol- to buy such a stroller… my, I would have, of course lol)

man, I know I read the baby’s name in a German OK issue,… but I’ve forgotten it… I though that, when OK Germany has it, then it’s old news in the rest of the world *sigh*

  73. Rose Says:

I’m pretty sure the pretty little girl’s name is Indiana Rose.

  74. Alice Says:

    love her style!
    love her baby girl!
    love Helena <3

  75. Serenity Says:

She looks so much like her mom

  76. MiB Says:

I know this post is several days old, but I still wanted to share my experience with prams like these. I have worked as a nanny in Sweden and Denmark where this kind of pram is still quite common, and they are great for walks, running errands and letting baby nap outside in the garden (which is wery common in Denmark) well into toddlerhood. The Danish prams are bigger than the Swedish, usually 90-95 cm (35-38 inches) long, and I actually love the bigger Danish prams since they do not only accomodate toddlers up to 2,5-3 years, they also let you transport 2-3 babies/toddlers in the same pram and let you transport a huge amount of groceries. True, I don’t always use them on public transport (which actually caters for traditional prams outside of rush hour), but when you are on foot they are great! Yes, they are heavy, but they roll easily on any ground, which I can’t say about other strollers I have pushed, and my upper body has never been as toned as it was when I worked as a nanny. The prams also let you interact more with the baby since the baby is higher up and facing you. Forward facing prams and strollers have always made me nervous, especially with very young or sleeping babies since you can’t easily keep an eye on them (windows in the hood just don’t do it for me) and it is very convenient not to have to bend down or go around to check up on baby. I also think most younger babies and many older babies/toddlers prefer to be able to see their carers and be able to interact with them.

By the way, Helena is actually not driving a Silver cross Balmoral, but a vintage pram much like it. Silver cross are hand made in England, which makes them expensive, but also very durable; I have seen people pushing their kids around in prams bought for their own parents (the kids grandparents). Most Danish prams are cheeper, but the more expensive prams have a longer lifespan and a much better second hand value. Many people actually buy second hand prams, and sell them on when they don’t need them anymore, making them quite cheap in the long run.

  77. Kayla Says:

It’s been rumored that the little one’s name is Indiana Rose but it hasn’t been confirmed

  78. Erica Says:

Helena told a London radio station that Indiana Rose is not the name, but if people want to call her that they can, ha.

I think that stroller is over the top fabulous!

  79. sarah Says:

yeah it does say on imdb that the baby girl’s name is Nell. But it could be Allegra Sophie or Emily Kim. I’m not sure, but whichever name it is it suits her perfectly she is such an adorable baby!

  80. Chrissy Says:

THE BABY’S NAME HAS BEEN ANNOUNCED!!!!!!!
    *DRUMROLL*

    BABY GIRL IS CALLED “NELL”
HELENA OFFICIAL CONFIRMED IT IN AN INTERVIEW!
