Minnie Driver’s Pregnancy Mysteries Continue

Minniedriver_m_b_gr_03_cbb_2

Minnie Driver’s pregnancy has been surrounded by two burning questions — ‘Who’s the daddy?’  and ‘What are you having?’. The first, the 38-year-old does not plan on answering; the second, she won’t be finding out.  She has previously stated that she would not reveal who the father of her baby is because "he didn’t choose to get dragged into the media," but she isn’t against the dad sharing the secret, saying, "If he wants to come out and talk about it, he’s more than welcome to." While some people are wondering who the father of the actress’ first child is, others want to know the sex — something that will not happen despite a doctor’s slip up.

I didn’t want to take away one of the great mysteries of life.  But it’s driven everybody around me insane. They’re all like, ‘What am I supposed to buy?’

One thing that no one is questioning is how happy this pregnancy has made the singer despite "sickness at the beginning."  She admits that "it feels good to have the sun on my belly" and makes sure that everyday she swim[s] and walk[s] about 3½ miles" and that she doesn’t care if "there are paparazzi taking your picture."

Minnie’s delivery surprise will make its appearance in late August.

It is one of life’s big surprises! I was so excited to find out the sex of each of my children during the anatomy ultrasound! It’s a great surprise no matter when you find out and a moment you never forget!

  2. Sara Says:

    uggamugga-

I was surprised with my first 2 children and I found out at the 20 week ultrasound with my 3rd child. It’s a surprise either way, but a different “surprise” experience all together. The big difference is that when you find out when the baby is born it’s WAY more exciting…you get to see and hold the baby right away after finding out what it is. There’s nothing like that. With the ultrasound you get to think about it for 20 more weeks and you know what you’re pushing out when you’re pushing…still exciting of course, but it’s a different experience. There’s an excitement in the room when you don’t know that isn’t there when you already know…

Now I’m pregnant with my 4th and plan to be surprised again. I really don’t care what it is – I just want healthy.

  3. Beverley Says:

Won’t the father’s name be listed on the birth certificate? I’m sure some media or tabloid will get a copy of the baby’s birth certificate magically “leaked”.

  4. Robyn Says:

I think she talks about it more than any of us really want to know about it. If she wants to not tell more power to her.

  5. chris Says:

“If he wants to come out and talk about it, he’s more than welcome to.” That seems like she’s using the media to get the baby’s father to fess up. Just my opinion…

  6. Kate Says:

UggaMugga – As someone who has experienced it both ways, there is nothing like having the surprise along WITH the birth. Much more exciting and so worth waiting for. I don’t care what people choose to do, but definitely for me, the delivery surprise is absolutely incredible.

  7. Jennifer Says:

It always amazes me that people feel like they have the right to know who the father is or what sex the baby is and other person questions for “stars”. I come here to see the photos becuase I love babies and have 4 of my own. I skip over the gossip and go looking for pictures and I feel funny about that, looking at other people’s babies..but they are out in public and they are going to be seen. But what I would never ask anyone, famous or not, who the father of their baby is and why they choose not to find out the sex of the their baby or any other personal questions. I was taught that if someone wanted you to know something they will tell you themselves. That’s just me though.

  8. N.S Says:

I agree with Sara and Kate, although do not have the experience of both behind me, I have one child (9.5 mos) and knew from the beggining of my pregnancy that I didn’t want to know the sex before the birth.

There has been no moment in my life as thrilling as when I was passed my baby for the very first time, looked into her eyes and said “you’re a girl!”.

I’m not one to flip to the back of a book prematurely to see how it ends.

  9. Holly Says:

There are three options for the birth certificate.
    1. Leave a blank for the fathers name.
    2. Put father unknown
    3. Or the father signs the birth certificate.
I also believe that she can give the baby any last name she wants. It is this way in the state I live in. If she wants the baby to have the last name of her favorite actor, she could.
BTW, does it honestly matter who the father is?

  10. Gigi Says:

i just think this whole story is getting on my nerves! not because i care to know who the father is but because its talked about so much and it doesnt seem like there is going to be an answer to the question anytime soon. i think it needs to stop being brought up and lets just enjoy her growing belly and anticipation of that baby!

  11. Aeve Says:

I’m glad she’s being surprised about the baby’s gender. Not knowing the sex is one of lifes great surprises.

Regarding the dad…who cares…as long as he is part of her life and their child’s life, it shouldn’t matter.

  12. MB Says:

Yah, I feel like news is just being recycled here. There’s not anything in this article that hasn’t come up many times already. Where is the new news? I enjoy seeing pictures of her b/c I like her style sense and I’m looking forward to seeing whether she has a boy or a girl but I’m getting a little tired of her CONSTANTLY bringing up that she’s not telling who the father is. I don’t care. She has every right to keep it a secret. I just think it’s weird that she is CONSTANTLY talking about it, like she wants to create this whole mystery and encourage people to keep asking about the father.

  13. Nikko Says:

I read an article that said the rumor is Colin Farrell is the daddy! I wonder if it’s true!

  14. Ella Says:

Ha, no it’s not Colin. I’ve read every Minnie article on here, and a couple back she talked about how Colin is dating her best friend and they all went to the beach.

  15. Soozie Says:

She’s given many clues…the baby’s father is Eddie Izzard, her The Riches co-star…

  16. NicoleMarie Says:

Everytime I read a post about her, It’s like I’m reading the same thing.

  17. Tonja Says:

Has anyone looked at Jolie throughout this pregnancy and wondered if she really was with babies? It is amazing that only her belly grew, not face, arms, legs. Could her hiding in another country’s hospital be hiding something else? It sure seems like alot of celebs are having twins now…Roberts, Lopez and now Pitts. It sure seems like keeping up with the Jones or keeping up with the stars.

  18. CelebBabyLover Says:

MB- That’s probably because she’s CONSTANTLY being ASKED about it! From what I have read, she’s been doing publicity for movies (someone please correct me if I’m wrong!). Naturally the interviewers are going to ask who the father is, and Minnie seems like the type to just give the same honest answers every time (Angelina Jolie is another actress who tends to do this).

Ella- I read that article as well! Also, people seem to be forgetting that Minnie has said that the father is “not in the public eye” and Colin Farrell IS in the public eye!
