“When the pain hit the roof, I had the thought that in a matter of moments I was going to be sitting and holding my baby with a big fat smile on my face - a thought that seemed ridiculous to me at the time but I knew it was true. And there we were, moments later.”

My middle child, a son who I had when I was 28, had a hemangioma on his bottom. I started small but by 3 weeks old it stretched from his rectum out about 4 inches. It was very red-purple and bumpy. We started him on steroids to stop the growth and at 8 weeks he needed laser surgery because it was continually ulcering. The concern was that the ulcers were being exposed to poop and pee and it was a medical rather than cosmetic surgery. It closed the original ulcers, but did open new, smaller ones. They however healed faster than the original ones. Our doc said that about 50% of them disappear on their own by 5, 70% by 7 and nearly all disappear by 10. My son is now 4 and while you can still see it, it is fairly smooth and there is no redness left.

hahaha, just read about Talula Does The Hula in my local paper this morning, and I live all the way in Dunedin, New Zealand. Didn’t know it was worldwide news!
btw, REALLY hate the phrase ‘we’re pregnant.’ Something about it just rubs me the wrong way.

what in the world are some of these parents thinking! Why would you name your child Talula Does The Hula From Hawaii???? OR Fish and Chip or Number 16 Bus Shelter …. or any of them other names! I don’t understand why a parent would do that to their child ….. what are they trying to punish them for something they might do in the future????

♥ I actually posted that article on “Talula Does the Hula from Hawaii” on the Name Choice Explained By New Dad Ingo Rademacher as a point to my opinion on the name Peanut.
    ♥ Don’t care for the phrase “We’re Pregnant!” (I prefer “We’re Expecting” or We’re Having a Baby”.)
♥ My daughter was born with a hemangioma that looked like half of a perfectly-shaped strawberry at her hairline (she had a lot of hair…and I mean a LOT…she looked like she was wearing a wig) and it grew a little, then started turning grey and was gone by the time she was 2 years old, so we didn’t have any concerns with it.
♥ I remember kissing my babies near the mouth after a feeding and being surprised at how sweet my breast milk was, but I didn’t notice feeding time being greater or shorter or them eating more or less depending on what I ate. But, they were hearty eaters!
♥ I have granite and marble all through my house! Maybe I should get it checked for radioactivity. I’ll ask my husband who is a executive for a nationwide homebuilder…can’t be too safe!

My older daughter was born with a hemangioma on her lower back, just above her bum crack. It was about the size of a nickel. It slowly went away on it’s own and completely disappeared by the time she was 6.
