Jimmy Buffett Wants His Kids “to Have a Better Sense of the World”
Sharing that the key to his happy marriage is for his wife, Jane, to have "low expectations," singer Jimmy Buffett has realized that along with the fame comes less time for a family life. So far, the 61-year-old singer has done his best to raise his three kids — Savannah, 29, Delaney, 16, and Cameron, 14 — and although his music career had him around the world and into studios, Jimmy feels that he took full advantage of the little time he did have at home. Says Jimmy,
I’m a dad that’s gone a lot, but I look back at it, and I tried to make my time at home have as much quality as possible.
Even though his kids may not have seen him much around the house, during their time off from boarding school, they would join the crew and hit the road with their dad. Amazed by the Margaritaville-themed concerts, Jimmy thinks "all my kids came on the road with me because they liked to see the circus" — the circus made up of the audience in their tropical outfits, from grass skirts to parrot hats to coconut bras. While the kids enjoyed themselves as groupies, their father had a different reason for bringing them on tour with him. His hope? That they "have a better sense of the world at an earlier age than I did."
Referring to himself as "not a good disciplinarian," of his brood, Jimmy compares himself instead to Peter Pan and gives his wife — who he has been married to for 30 years — the credit, saying "Jane runs the show." As Jimmy performs up on stage, Jane is happy to run things on the homefront as her husband admits "she prefers the sidelines," but cheers on the singer as he does "pay the rent and everybody’s happy about that."

I never really thought about this before til I read this article. If his kids goto bording school how often do they see their kids? I guess I just assumed that celebs kids lived with them like normal people do, and their wives were home to be with the kids. I guess I never thought about some of the celebs sending their kids away to bordering school. Maybe they bond with their kids like the rest of us do, I just couldnt imagine not being around my kids all the time i guess. if i am coming across judgemental I am not trying to be, I am just trying to figure out bording schools. steph

I agree….Steph, not to sound judgemental either, but I can’t imagine not being around my son all the time. Don’t get me wrong, there are moments where I might like to send him off to boarding school, lol…. but I could never stand that. Whenever he stays the night at a friend’s house, I miss him as soon as I get up the next morning.
