Zac and Kate Hanson Show Off Son Shepherd
John Ira Shepherd Hanson may be only eight weeks old, but he’s already enjoyed a number of private performances from one of the famous Hanson brothers — it’s how he goes to sleep! Says dad Zac Hanson, 22, drummer for the band: "He’s heard a lot of original a capella dad — it’s Zac Hanson: The Solo Project!"
Showing off their son in the August 4th issue of PEOPLE, as well as in a behind-the-scenes video at PEOPLE.com, Zac and his wife Kate, 24, were initially nervous about becoming parents. With the arrival of their little boy, however, they’ve changed their tune. Zac explains,
The most surprising thing for me is how afraid people are of somethingthat is so natural once you do it. You take on that role as a dad andyou go, ‘This feels like what I was meant to do. Why would I ever beafraid of it?’
During a June 18th photoshoot in their hometown of Tulsa, Oklahoma, Zac addressed comments referring to he and Kate, as well as his brothers and sisters-in-law, as "breeding machines." Between them, the Hanson family has six children, five boys and a girl ranging in age from three weeks to five-and-a-half years.
[Kate and I] only have one baby. What’s all the drama? There’s always someone to tell you, ‘It’s okay that the baby hasn’t pooped, you don’t need to worry about that.’ But we have no intention to battle the Osmonds in any way — they can have the crown!

When did these Hanson boys grow up? It seems just like yesterday that they were singing “MMMMm Bop.” I didn’t realize they had so many children between them all. Does one brother have 3 the other 2 and then Zac just the 1?

The Hanson brothers have such cute families. It looks like the boys are out numbering the girls though. Little Penny is the only girl.

Oh goodness! If it’s true that Taylor’s wife is having another baby I hope they give that ladies poor uterus a break after this one! Four kids in 6 years… that is a lot for anyone to handle!

I was waiting for this photoshoot to come out. They are such a beautiful family, and Shepherd is adorable.
I love hearing about Hanson babies, and the family. They are so grounded. Poor Penny, though. She’s the only girl. lol She needs a little sister or female cousin. All of their kids are adorable, though. It’s nice to see a happy, down to earth family.
The rumors of Taylor’s wife Natalie expecting baby number 4 have gone around since October. Taylor actually disputed them back in November in an interview, but then around March, rumors started popping up again. Rumor has it she is due at the beginning of December. But, we shall see. I know I’ll definitely be on the lookout for it, especially since Taylor and Natalie apparently want at least 5 kids. They really haven’t taken much of a break, since they got married. lol

I think there is nothing wrong with them having as many kids as they want. They have enough resources and come from a big family (7 siblings). Their family values are amazing and, given that they started working at a very early age, I simply think they grew up fast and feel more than ready to have kids.
Yet again, Ike has two babies and Zac has only one – no big deal! And Tay has 3, but he has been with Natalie forever. In fact, all 3 marriages come from quite long relationships and I think there is no point in telling them that it is too soon to have children.
Anyway, huge Hanson fan here, so anything they do, I’ll be supportive LoL. I love Hanson, they have given me so much.
