Birth story:
Sasha arrived one week before his due date on July 25th, 2007. Naomi’s birth plan was to deliver him naturally and we have not heard otherwise!
Nickname: Sasha is the Slavic nickname for Alexander. Dad Liev is Ukrainian. In initial interviews, Naomi referred to their son this way, and has not called him Alexander in any interviews thus far. Until she does, we’ll continue to go with Sasha!
Nanny:
Naomi has used the same nanny, whose name is Carmen, since Sasha’s birth. Naomi told of how she jokes with Carmen on Jimmy Kimmel Live.
Siblings:
Naomi has said for some time that she would "love to have more" children and was just waiting for the right time. While not officially confirmed, news of a second pregnancy is swirling.
What they said:
After the joyous experience that she has had with Sasha, Naomi is now recommending motherhood to all women; "Have a baby. It’s the best." Naomi also adds that she would like to have more children, "I’d love to have one more. I’d love to have two more. Or three."
Like a lot of new celebrity parents, Naomi and Liev faced the decision of whether to share the first pictures of Sasha publicly or whether they would let the paparazzi get the first photo. Naomi said, "We didn’t feel right about it. We wanted to do it as normally as possible. You can protect yourself so much, and then you start feeling not normal, and you want to be normal."
How does Naomi calm Sasha down during a long flight? "I put him on the boob."
While on Jimmy Kimmel Live in March, Naomi listed the countries her then 7-month-old son had visited; "he was born in America, [he's been to] Canada, Australia, Russia, Lithuania, England, Germany, Italy … I’m not proud of it."

HAPPY BIRTDAY SASHA!!!
My DS will be 1 in a couple of days. So, it is fun for me to watch both of them “grow up together”. Boy, time sure has flown by. Can’t wait to see Naomi and Liev’s next baby. I’m sure s/he will be just as cute. And Sasha will be a terrific big brother.

Umm I don’t know what interviews you’ve missed but she has referred to him as Alexander a few times on t.v. and in magazines!!!!! Infact I’ve never myself heard her say Sasha just Alexander.

Hi JM, I am a huge Naomi fan and CBB is right. The last time Naomi referred to him by name, either in a printed quote or on a talk show, was those interviews she did promoting eastern promises when he was 6 weeks old, and she always called him sasha. Since then, she has not said his name at all, she almost always says ‘my baby’ or ‘my son.’ Her glamour mag interview, appearances on Conan, Leno etc she never says his name. I wish she would because i want to know if they still call him sasha, or have switched to alexander, or use both!

Liev Schreiber is Ukrainian? I have NO idea who he is but I love that sooo many Ukrainians are famous! I bet his family from Odessa!:))
As for the name: in Ukraine Alexander is ALWAYS Sasha, Ukrainians never say Alex or Alexander. I know one Alexander who prefers to be called Alik…but everyone still calls him Sasha:))
My name is Anna and would love to be called that but everyone is calling me Anya.

And ‘Liev’ is not Ukranian name at all!
