Happy Birthday Maddox Chivan Jolie-Pitt. You are now 7 years old!
There has been a lot of talk the past few days about his new siblings Knox and Vivienne, but today we must give props to Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt’s oldest son, Maddox, who is celebrating his seventh birthday!

Famous for: Maddox was first adopted by Angelina Jolie and Billy Bob Thornton. Following their split, Angelina took sole custody, until she started dating Brad Pitt in early 2005 and he adopted Maddox. They now have six children together.

Before adopting Zahara, Angelina openly spoke of her son’s interests, saying that her son "is in love with Africa, so he has been asking for an African brother or sister."
When Angelina adopted Zahara, Maddox went to the orphanage with his mother and "saw that she needed care." Angelina added, "Kids understand sadness and poverty and hunger."
In an interview with Anderson Cooper, Angelina spoke of Maddox’s love of Shiloh and how he adores having her around:
Mad loves her. When Z came home she was older, she was seven months old, so for Mad it’s like having this tiny pet he can just hold and look at. He’s great.
Maddox didn’t quite grasp why his mom was dressing up as his friend Adam Pearl’s mom, Mariane [for the filming of A Mighty Heart]. Angelina added that he found it "very strange." Angelina didn’t however explain the whole situation as she wasn’t sure what Mad would say to Adam. Adding that she usually tells "her son everything … but … I did say that [Daniel] was killed."
Angelina has said that her oldest son is "just this little intelligent man. He’s so smart and so witty. He’s like my best buddy. Just the coolest little person I’ve ever met."
What does Maddox call Angelina?
My eldest son [Maddox] started to call me Angie for fun, he thinks it’s hysterical! He does [still call me mommy], both daddy and mommy, but when he’s being silly with me it’s Angie. They all [know how to tease me] – they’ve all been making fun of me!
After welcoming Pax into their family last year Angelina is thrilled that her two sons have "really connected." Adding that they have "moments when they bond together against everybody else in the family." Together they are "a really tough team and then they have moments when they bug each other. "
With the addition of the twins, Brad tells PEOPLE,
This is Mad’s fourth and fifth time at becoming an older bro. He’s asking us when we can have more!
Angelina thinks that being a mom is the most important element in life. She has said that she is "so lucky to have that role in life." With motherhood coming first the "world can like me, hate me or fall apart around me and at least I wake up with my kids and I’m happy."

I have always loved pics of Maddox! My favorite pic would have to be Maddox and Pax, sleeping in a big hotel bed, I believe it was when pax was adopted….moved me to tears…children are so loving. happy birthday little man!

Today is an adorible little boy’s birthday on the same day as my adorible 3 yr old niece. Happy Birthday Maddox and my niece! I also wish to comment on those beautiful twins. Aren’t they gorgoeus?!! I love the entire Jolie-Pitt clan, the world’s most beautiful family.

On March 10, 2002, Jolie adopted her first child, seven-month-old Maddox Chivan Jolie-Pitt (originally Maddox Chivan Thornton Jolie).[15] He was born on August 5, 2001 as Rath Vibol in Cambodia, and he initially lived in a local orphanage in Battambang. Jolie decided to apply for adoption after she had visited Cambodia twice, while filming Tomb Raider and on a UNHCR field trip in 2001. After her divorce from her second husband, Billy Bob Thornton, Jolie received sole custody of Maddox.
