Ashanti Open to Having Lots of Kids — Up to Ten!
Selling more than 23 million albums worldwide, singer Ashanti has concentrated all her efforts into making a name for herself in the music business — but that doesn’t mean that the 27-year-old isn’t also thinking about marrying her boyfriend, rapper Nelly, and starting a family. Sharing that she has "been planning my wedding in my head since I was a little girl," her plans for the future include tying the knot and starting her family, which if Ashanti has her way, will one day include ten kids. While she may dream of having a huge brood, Ashanti’s aunt tends to think "that number’s gonna change," saying, "Wait till she has one baby!"
Whether or not she has two or ten children, Ashanti is confident that she "loves kids and kids dig me" and that at the end of the day, the most important things in her life will be her children. Says Ashanti,
I love my career, but to one day be a mom is more important to me than platinum albums or awards.

It’s true, it changes once you actually have one. My husband and I always thought we wanted 4, but now we’re seriously mulling the decision of having a third and are thinking we’ll wait another 18 months at least (our boys are 2 1/2 and 5).

haha that’s what my gramma keeps saying to me! before i got pregnant i was talking with her about international adoption (my family is from another country and DH and i would like to adopt from there). i didn’t say anything else about it once i got pregnant, but my grandmother freaked out and called my mother and told her that mom needs to convince me to put these thoughts of adoption out of my head because i should only have ONE child. she said that once i had one, i would realize any more would be too much work. my mom just laughed because she knows i’ve always wanted to adopt, and that i’ve always talked about having 4 children. i realize that my DH and i might change our minds about 4 kids, but i know we’ll not stop at 1 and that we will adopt.

Jillyen you are not the only one,I never knew they were dating either,I was so suprised lol.Ive always been a fan of Ashanti she seems down to earth and would make a great wife and mom.

It isn’t always true. Growing up I always said I wanted a large family and I still do even after having two. I’ll have as many kids as my husband agrees to but hopefully at least 4.

Yea I agree with ashanti’s aunt. I think for the most part people have an idea, a range of how many kids they want, give and take a kid or two lol. But factors come into consderation like if you can get pregnant easily, if you can afford say the 4 kids you alwys dreamed of, if people don’t get divorce within a few years of marriage, etc. I think most people that want say 2-3 kids most likely have it though for the most part, but when celebrities say they want 8-10 kids before they even had one, most of the time you know they ain’t having that many. Other than brad and angelina, very few people have a baby every year or so nowadays.
