Clay Aiken Welcomes Son Parker
Clay Aiken is a new daddy! His best friend, producer Jaymes Foster, gave birth to a baby boy at 8:08 a.m. this morning, Friday, August 8th, in North Carolina. Parker Foster Aiken weighed in at 6 lbs, 2 oz, and is 19 inches long. According to Clay’s mother, Faye, the baby has dark hair. Clay writes on his website,
HE’S HERE! My dear friend, Jaymes, and I are so excited to announce the birth of Parker Foster Aiken(No hyphens. One first name. One middle name. One last name.)Wow … 8:08 … 08/08/08.
The little man is healthy, happy, and as loud as his daddy. Mama Jaymes is doing quite well also. We’ll share more at some point in the future.Love to you all!
It was revealed in June that the American Idol alum, 29, and Jaymes, 50, had conceived via artificial insemination and were expecting a boy. They plan to raise the child together.

Congrats, but I really dislike the name! There’s no actual first name there, they’ve just smushed three last names together! But like I said, congrats anyway!

Lucky baby… 8:08 8-8-08
Holy!
Congrats!

CONGRATS!!!! So excited for Clay!! Love the name too!! He was born on my son’s bday…today! My son was born at 8:28 AM on 08/08/90! Great day to be born IMHO!! Congrats again and hope we get to see a pic soon!
August 8th, 2008 at 10:15 am
Hmm I wonder if she had a c section so she could have her baby at 8:08 on this day. Seems a little too coincidental to have happened naturally.
August 8th, 2008 at 10:24 am
Congrats to Clay and Jaymes! I am sure this will be one very loved baby!
August 8th, 2008 at 10:40 am
I love the name. Congrats to the parents.
August 8th, 2008 at 10:41 am
Congratulations…love the name Parker!
August 8th, 2008 at 10:44 am
I’m so happy for him ! And I love the name. Parker is just a perfect name. Atleast he’s not named after a day of the week or after a fruit.
August 8th, 2008 at 10:47 am
Think his lucky number will be 8? lol Congratulations to the happy parents!
August 8th, 2008 at 10:50 am
Sheena, I thought the same thing – was it a planned c-section for that time on this day? If not, that is one heck of a coincidence!
Congrats to the new parents.
August 8th, 2008 at 10:51 am
Congratulations
As others have pointed out, what a fantastic birthday! 8.8.08 at 8.08am – wow!
August 8th, 2008 at 10:58 am
He was born at 8:08, on 8/08/08, and weighed 6lbs 2oz- another 8. I am not a betting person but I would run to the roulette table and put some money on 8!
August 8th, 2008 at 11:01 am
And 6lbs 2oz– 6+ 2=8!
Hee.
Anyway, congrats. I’m sure Clay will make a wonderful daddy. Such a nice guy and it’s so wonderful he chose to do this with his best friend. Lucky baby.
August 8th, 2008 at 11:12 am
Congrats Clay and Jaymes!
I wonder if Jaymes delivered Parker via elective c-section? Everything seems to point to that. His birth date and time seem too perfect to just be a coincidence. And he’s a little on the small side. I hear that docs like to schedule c-sections at 37 weeks so that the mother does not go into labor beforehand. 6lbs 2 oz seems about right for a baby born at 37 weeks. And please note that I’m not criticizing c-sections, just speculating about Parker’s birth.
Anyway, regardless of the means of delivery I’m glad they have a healthy baby. I don’t know much about either of these two, but a baby is always a blessing so congrats once again!
August 8th, 2008 at 11:21 am
Congrats to Clay and Jaymes! It sounds like little Parker (love the name!) will be a much loved and doted-on child. With both Parker’s parents in the music biz, maybe one day baby Parker will be a contestant on American Idol. (LOL!)
August 8th, 2008 at 11:40 am
How wonderful! I hope they release pics of him, I bet he’s just adorable.
August 8th, 2008 at 12:08 pm
Wow… It’s the week of the Clay babes! First Clay Walker and now Clay Aiken!
And yay for an 8er! I was born around alot of 8s and it’s a very lucky number in many circles.
I love the name Parker. It’s the name of one of the kids in Desperate Housewives. More common as a firstname than surname.
Oh BTW.. 19 inches long? 9 minus 1 = 8!
August 8th, 2008 at 12:33 pm
Yes, I agree, Parker is a common both first and last name. Given the age of the mother, the birth weight and the 8s coincidence, she 99% did have c-section.
August 8th, 2008 at 1:12 pm
I love Clay and I’m so happy he’s a daddy now!!
I would say this baby’s going to be one lucky little boy!! Mama may have planned a c-section so baby could be born at 8:08 on 8-8-08, but you cannot plan 6lbs2oz = 8 and 19in = 8 too!!
and so what if she did plan a c-section? good grief, we should all be so much less critical of other people!!
August 8th, 2008 at 1:17 pm
Having a c-section would not have guaranteed the baby was born at 8:08. Have any of the people saying this actually had a c-section? They have to cut through layers of skin and muscle, move other organs out of the way, and cut into the uterus and then carefully remove the baby. All of those things take varied amount of times. They would not open up the mother and then just wait until 8:08 to take the baby out. That would present an infection risk. I think it is very strange to make the assumption that she had a c-section when you really don’t know anything about the birth.

Congratulations to Clay & Jaymes!
I had actually forgotten about this pregnancy because it (surprisingly) didn’t get that much media attention.
It’s certainly an unconventional family situation, but it sounds like it will work out well- I wish them the best.
Also, glad to see a fairly ‘normal’ name to break up all the ‘interesting’ names (Peanut, Twiggy etc..) we’ve heard about lately!

I just noticed the 8:08 birth-time on 08/08/08. PLUS Parker was 6lbs2oz…6+2=8
And 19 inches long… 9-1=8. WEIRD!
August 8th, 2008 at 1:22 pm
lol, Rebecca, I don’t think anyone here is being critical of c-sections (not so far anyway), we’re just saying that all of the info we’ve been given leads us to that conclusion.
August 8th, 2008 at 1:42 pm
Yeah those are some good numbers. Clay should play the lottery….even though he doesn’t need to
August 8th, 2008 at 2:06 pm
I was born at 9:09 am on 9/18/77. I always say-that the 18 is really just two 9’s
Yes, my lucky number is 9. ha.
August 8th, 2008 at 2:13 pm
That’s exactly what I was going Shawn! People always jump to c-section.
There are a lot of 8s in his birthday, get over it people! Sometimes it happens! I highly doubt he was the ONLY child born at that time today!
Congrats to Clay and Jaymes
August 8th, 2008 at 2:33 pm
I’d say that they’d probably schedule a c-section for a 50 yo woman…
Also, if you have a Dr. that performs c-sections all day every day for years on end, she’d probably be able to estimate within a minute or two as to how long it will take her to get the baby out.
Not that the whole c-section thing matters because it doesn’t…I just think it’s definitely possible that it was planned this way with the 8’s.
August 8th, 2008 at 2:44 pm
Are Jaymes and Clay a couple? It says she’s 50, so I’m just confused. I don’t follow Clay, so I don’t know the story. Congrats to him!
August 8th, 2008 at 5:06 pm
HOW WILL THIS BABY BE LUCK?
August 8th, 2008 at 5:11 pm
I still don’t get it but congrats to them either way
August 8th, 2008 at 5:38 pm
I don’t believe that time of birth for one bit. Anyone who knows a nurse can tell you that some nurses like to give birth times that coincide with the birth date.
August 8th, 2008 at 6:13 pm
Congrats to them!! My son was actually born on 5/5/05 at 5:05am. I had to have an emergency c-section with him. The doctor came in at 4:30 am and told me it was time to go…I had an infection from a high leak in my bag and they worried that he was getting an infection. They rushed me in to the or and were racing to get him out at 5:05am. So it’s possible they had a c-section as well…or they’re just very lucky!
August 8th, 2008 at 6:38 pm
My guess is that he was born at 8:06 or something and one one of the nurses thought it would be cute to say 8:08. It’s done all the time. They might have planned 8/8/08 since it is a “lucky day”, but I know that like with 7/7/07, one hospital here would not let anyone schedule elective c-sections today, only emergencies because of the demand for the day.
August 8th, 2008 at 9:19 pm
I love the name! Parker is such a cute name for a boy.
Not trying to be critical or anything but SERIOUSLY?! This is either some crazy coincidence or, more likely, somebody decided to make the time coincidental. 8/08/08 at 8:08 a.m. Crazy! His birth weight/length isn’t as crazy because that’s some clever addition/subtraction by us.
Congrats to the fam, though! Little Parker will sure be proud of his birthday!
August 8th, 2008 at 11:17 pm
There was a baby born here today that was born at 8:08 am and weighed 8lbs! *lol*
August 9th, 2008 at 3:57 am
Plus Christina Aguilera had her baby at 37 weeks and he weighed 6lbs 2oz too…
August 9th, 2008 at 11:22 am
Am I the only one who thinks that it is freaky that a 29 year old boy man had a baby with a 50 year old old woman. Come on people…I mean good luck to them, but its still freaky…
August 9th, 2008 at 6:08 pm
Phoebe:
Clay’s own birth name is “three last names smushed together.”
Clayton is from his maternal grandmother’s maiden name. His middle name is from his paternal grandmother’s maiden name. His last name at birth is his birth father’s last name.
Parker’s names follow a similar pattern, and honor the three families in the baby’s life.
I think it’s a beautiful name.
August 10th, 2008 at 2:59 am
Oh my gosh! 08080808080808080808!!!!!!!!
August 10th, 2008 at 12:04 pm
Well….thanks (I think) for the explanation Vickie, but I guess I just like first names that are actually first names, rather than surnames. I’m sure the baby is lovely, and I guess it could’ve been worse than Parker, I just don’t personally like it at all.
August 11th, 2008 at 3:03 pm
He was born at the exact minute that the Olympic started. The Olympics started at 8:08 on 08/08/2008 and Parker chose this time to make his entrance!
That is so cool, Parker is a 2008 Olympic Baby, plus I think he’s going to be lucky in life with the number 8 because of all these same numbers.
September 7th, 2008 at 5:29 pm
my youngest nieces’ best friend is named Parker, and she loves it. Let’ not forget Parker Posey, one of my favorite actresses…i’m sure she loves it as well. Parker Stevenson has always been one of my faves. The new baby will suffer no dire consequences bearing the name Parker; i’m sure of it.
