Kevin Bacon Wants Children to be Compassionate
Life has many different lessons that it can teach a person, but Kevin Bacon wants to make sure that kids Travis, 19, and Sosie Ruth, 16, learn "that there are many different kinds of success." To the actor, the most important life lesson is that "If you are a compassionate human being who can relate to a lot of different kinds of people and cares about the world outside of [your] own sphere, then that’s a tremendous success." Kevin believes in that so much that he doesn’t care what his and wife Kyra Sedgwick’s kids do for a living as long as they are happy.
Our kids could go off and be actors or singers or work at McDonald’s for the rest of their lives if I felt they were truly happy.
Kevin, 50, and Kyra, 42, have been married since September 4, 1988.

I just love the name Sosie. If I have another daughter I think I might seriously consider naming her that if I can get my other half to agree!

I think what he says about different types of success and being able to relate to others is so true.I love this parenting philosophy.

Does anyone know if Sosie if a nickname or her full name? Either way I think it’s kind of adorable.

Sosie is her real first name. Her middle name is Ruth.
What he says sounds like wonderful parenting, and his philosophy is a good one, but when you meet him-he does not seem to have that type of compassion himself. Kyra is a little more personable.
His daughter is very friendly and acts like any normal child would.

i doubt he would really be happy if his kids worked at mcdonalds, even if they were happy flipping burgers. everybody wants something better for their children than what they had, or at least that’s what they should want. i do believe that travis is in a band and sosie has been in a movie, so these kids are on their way to being more successful than fast food. i understand that he’s trying to say something nice and seem like the ultimate, caring father, but let’s be realistic.
