Soleil Moon Frye’s Daughter Poet Has a Swingin’ Good Time
Wee! Poet Sienna Rose Goldberg, 3 this month, gets a lift from mom Soleil Moon Frye and producer dad Jason Goldberg as they celebrated Soleil’s 32nd birthday on Wednesday. The trio started off with brunch at Le Pain Quotidien Bakery, then continued on with some shopping at Fred Segal before heading home to 4-month-old daughter Jagger Joseph Blue.

Very sweet, fun moment, but I would never want an up-the-dress photo of my daughter posted on the internet.
August 10th, 2008 at 9:20 am
poet is so cute !
August 10th, 2008 at 9:32 am
I LOVE Soleil!! I grew up watching Punky Brewster & always idolized her. I am so proud to see that she’s not one of these Hollywood women so caught up with being a size 2 just 3 weeks after giving birth. I love her. She is a happy Mom & it shows.
August 10th, 2008 at 9:43 am
oh my gosh, Poe is looking SO much like her momma as she’s getting bigger
August 10th, 2008 at 9:58 am
Pictures of children upset is absolutely a no no for you guys. BUT pictures of children’s undergarments exposed is alright?
August 10th, 2008 at 10:09 am
Poet is so adorable!! <3
August 10th, 2008 at 10:09 am
what a cute picture!
August 10th, 2008 at 11:25 am
Soleil is so cute, and real. I love that her and other celebs like Alanis are just themselves and seem very comfortable in their bodies.
August 10th, 2008 at 11:49 am
In this day and age, I would think showing crotch shots of an innocent little girl is a big no no. With sights like Flickr encouraging parents to keep pics of their children private to protect them from online pedophiles, I would encourage you to do the same. I know it looks like a very innocent photo, but in the wrong hands it is not. Let’s protect the little ones. They deserve it!
August 10th, 2008 at 12:18 pm
What a cute family – I love that Poet is always smiling and Spleil is always along side her!
I’m betting that her mom wishes she was potty trained though – 2 in diapers is hard! And she’s almost 3, right?
My advice would be use the potty training watch, my kids loved it! It’s only $9.99 and well worth the potty training help as well as learning what time is, too. Here’s the link if you want to purchase: http://pottytimeinc.com/index.html

I do not think that the photo is appropriate. It shows an area that should not be photographed on a little one. There are many sick-o people out there.
Anyways, they are all so cute.
But is Poe wearing a diaper?
August 10th, 2008 at 1:12 pm
Poet is absolutley adorable!
And I really love her name!
And her little sisters name!
both really unique, and more intresting than names you usually hear.
August 10th, 2008 at 1:26 pm
definately not a good angle. is she wearin a diaper or training pants?
August 10th, 2008 at 1:28 pm
So cute! Looks like Poet isn’t potty trained yet, that’s going to be difficult especially with a four month old:)
August 10th, 2008 at 1:38 pm
Who cares? She’s clearly wearing a Seventh Generation diaper, it’s not a pair of panties. She’s also clearly having a wonderful time with her two parents. I didn’t see any such comments on the post with Jack Black’s son with no pants, Paz Vega’s son with his little bum crack showing, or on the recent Suri photos clearly showing her Elmo diapers. Everyone just said ‘how cute.’ Pedophiles are going to be pedophiles no matter what you do or don’t do, and I think this is a great picture and am happy to see it here, as I was happy to see the others I spoke of above.
August 10th, 2008 at 1:55 pm
I agree about it being inappropriate. Upskirt shots of anyone, let alone children, are a no no in my books.
August 10th, 2008 at 2:18 pm
She is cute and looks just like her mom, but I agree not a very good pic. I wouldn’t want a picture like that of my kid on a site.
August 10th, 2008 at 3:07 pm
Ah, the joys of hand swinging! Poe looks like she’s having a good time, and who the freak cares about her knickers showing? At least she is wearing knickers compared to some women 20 years older than her! Actually those aren’t knickers, they’re nappies, so pffft, when are nappies a no-no on the Internet? It’s a cute picture of a kid having fun!
August 10th, 2008 at 3:16 pm
The funny thing is, I never would’ve thought of this picture being inappropriate until people started talking about it being an “upskirt” shot…but Poet is still in diapers! I just don’t think that’s comparable to photos of grown women with no underwear. To be fair, I do understood why people are concerned ie pedos, but I’m also not comfortable of the idea that an innocent pic like this one is being called into question. I think of it this way: what about that cute photo of David Banda and his siblings playing in the fountain the other day? David is around Poet’s age and he was in nothing but his undies–would that also constitute an inappropriate shot? I wouldn’t think so.
August 10th, 2008 at 3:22 pm
i dont think there is anything wrong with this photo..but y is she still in diapers! shes 3!!!my cousin is 2 and half and shes been off diapers since she was 1 and half!
August 10th, 2008 at 3:26 pm
Actually Erica, I thought that was inappropriate too, but I don’t think I commented on it.
August 10th, 2008 at 3:30 pm
Just speaking from my experience with me and my mom’s group, most kids around here (Brooklyn) are trained between 2 and 3 1/2.
My first son I started trying to train when he had just turned 2, and it was such a mess. He wasn’t ready and I was forcing it and he just rebelled. He was finally trained just before he started preschool at 3 1/2. My second son, we followed his cues. A few weeks before his third birthday he started being interested in the potty, and was fully trained (daytime) by his birthday. It went extremely quickly and I think it’s just because we waited until he was ready.
My friends with daughters seem train earlier, more 2-3. I know a few boys who are more in the 3 1/2-4 range also. I think Poet is pretty normal. They also just had a new baby so a lot of kids that age will regress and say they want diapers. Or maybe she wears panties at home and because they were going out for a few hours, they had her put a diaper on. We did that with my boys.
August 10th, 2008 at 3:38 pm
I am really suprised so many people had something to say about Poet not being potty trained. The average age to potty train is 3 years old. That’s just the middle number, there are plenty earlier and plenty after that age. Evry kids potty trains at their own pace, she just had a major life change when she had a baby sister, she wont be in diapers when she goes to college, I don’t see why people are so shocked that she is wearing a diaper today??
August 10th, 2008 at 4:07 pm
now that i see her dad I can see why she is tall! she might be somewhat potty trained you cant tell from this picture. I know when I was potty training my kids if we were gonna be gone along time and couldnt find a bathroom easily I would put a pull up on them. No big deal. also my kids are the same years apart as her kids and I didnt rush my oldest child to potty train b/c of the new baby coming and you hear of the older kids wanting to revert back. I didnt push her and by her 3rd bday she was totally potty trained. I sometimes think everybody is so quick to rush the potty training like if your child is potty trained by 2.1 yrs they will be so smart in school or something…lol.

I too didn’t see a problem with the photo until someone mentioned it being inappropriate. Its just a little girl and her diaper and babies and diapers are shown all the time. I would say it would be more inappropriate if she was a bit older. Anyways, the average age for potty training is closer to 3 and even 3 1/2 these days. I work in a daycare and maybe 25% of our kids that are two are trained. We joke that the magic number for our daycare seems to be 3 years and 3 months!! Most mom’s don’t bother starting until they child turns 3 and it only takes them 3 months to get it all done and over with! Girls do happen to be faster then boys for the most part. But it’s not uncommon to see a 3 1/2 year old girl still struggling.
But now a days with the diaper designs they have going on most kids could careless about wearing the fun big girl/boy undies when they can get spiderman or blues clues right on their diapers!
August 10th, 2008 at 5:15 pm
I was caught back by the photo the 2nd time I saw it. I didn’t notice the up the dress the first time. However, Soleil reads this site so I’m sure if she has an issue with it she will let the editors know.
August 10th, 2008 at 5:40 pm
I don’t see the big deal about the photo.
August 10th, 2008 at 5:46 pm
I honestly don’t find much wrong with this picture and I wish people would stop making a big deal about it! It’s just a family out having fun! And Poet isn’t even 3 yet, so what if she isn’t potty trained? She won’t be wearing diapers her whole life. And I must say, it’s refreshing to see a celebrity mom who isn’t back to a size 00 right after having a baby and also who isn’t trailed by a line of nannies. I applaud Soleil and her family for seeming so down-to-earth.And her daughters are both gorgeous!!
August 10th, 2008 at 6:37 pm
HeatherLynn, you said it best! I will leave it at that! Good for you! Wish more people could have our outlook!
August 10th, 2008 at 6:40 pm
Wow… if they did a remake of Punky Brewster they could cast Poet. She looks SOOOO much like her mom!!
August 10th, 2008 at 7:15 pm
I love this family! Soleil seems like such a hands on mom. I don’t see anything wrong with this picture….it’s a toddler in a diaper. I think some people are making an issue where there shouldn’t be one.
August 10th, 2008 at 7:24 pm
Geesh. You see more crotch area skin on a young girl wearing a bikini yet a diaper shot under a dress is inappropriate?
August 10th, 2008 at 8:23 pm
When I saw the number of comments I couldn’t imagine what people would be on about. And than it turns out the problem is we can see her diaper…..
It’s cute photo of a family having fun, it has nothing to do with pedophiles or crotch photos.
August 10th, 2008 at 8:28 pm
it might just be a toddler in a daiper to you and me, but there are a lot of sickos out there and for cbb who claim they never post a pic of an upset child how this be ok, especially with the owner having a toddler herself, am disappointed. i notice lately that the site has fewer and fewer posts these days, so i guess any pic is ok.
August 10th, 2008 at 9:02 pm
Adorable photo, hands down one of my favorite celebrity families! I grew up watching Punky Brewster. Found the series at my local library and my little girl is now hooked! They dont make sitcoms like that anymore.
August 10th, 2008 at 9:31 pm
While I think a picture of parents swinging their child is adorable, if that were my child, I would not want her undies/diaper and the surrounding area to be shown all across the internet. With all the pedophiles and crazy people at there these days, I just find it very unsettling and uncomfortable to look at.
August 10th, 2008 at 10:10 pm
Maybe she has a Pull-up diaper on, and every child/parent is different with the potty training thing. I’m almost certain she won’t wear it forever.
August 10th, 2008 at 10:13 pm
ANOTHER COFFEE!!
August 10th, 2008 at 10:21 pm
we see babies in diapers all of the time on this site and in real life. how is this one different from all of those? there is a picture of jack black’s baby running around in a diaper further down this page and not one person complained about that. if she were older, this would be inappropriate, but she’s just a baby. it’s really not that big of a deal
August 10th, 2008 at 11:15 pm
Adorable family photo! Nothing inappropriate about it at all.
August 10th, 2008 at 11:57 pm
Both my kids (boy and girl) were completely day-trained by their 2nd birthdays and then through the night shortly after…I don’t see why a child who can speak in full sentences, and who knows when they are thirsty/hungry (meaning that they can tell different body cues-to a point) etc. cannot say “I need to use the potty”. I’m not saying that a child has to be completely trained the minute they turn 2, their are bound to be accidents but the idea of changing a 3.5 year olds diaper, I’m sorry but uh huh…no way.
August 11th, 2008 at 1:43 am
Sienna, Parenthood means you meet the needs of the child you get, not the child you think you should get. We don’t get to choose our child’s physiology. So if your 3.5 yr old needs a diaper change, you do it. Healthy self esteem as a parent is not based on whose kid acheives which milestone when, but rather on what kind of human we turn loose on the world.
August 11th, 2008 at 4:05 am
The issue, for me, is not just seeing a diaper but the position she’s in. Someone mentioned Jack Black’s child in another recent pic, but you can see about an inch of diaper sticking out under a shirt. If Jack Black’s kid’s legs were spread and the shot were directly to the center, I’d consider that inappropriate, also.
Poet is adorable and having fun, but I would never be comfortable with a shot like that of my children posted for millions to see.
August 11th, 2008 at 4:14 am
i see nothing wrong with the pic.its a very cute picture!
And for the whole potty traing thing,my nephew turned 3 back in may and still isnt fully potty trained. He still has accidents during the day and still wears a pull up to bed.every child goes at their own pace.My oldest nephew was potty trained by 2 and half.
August 11th, 2008 at 6:21 am
Actually the average potty training age for children all over the world is less than 2 years old. In the Western, developed wsorld, with disposable diapers, parents have gotten lazy…I am currently living in Asia, and with elimination communication ad cloth diapers, it is rare to see a child over 2 in diapers.
I am glad my kids were potty trained by 23 and 20 months respectively. (We did use cloth diapers exclusively).
August 11th, 2008 at 7:05 am
excellent points, sienna and ilaria. i was born in the u.s. but my parents weren’t. this was forever ago but my siblings and I were all completely potty trained by 18 months and most of the people we knew did the same. in fact, i was shocked back when i was a teenager and i babysat for a three yr old still in diapers because i had never seen such a big kid not even begin to potty train. it’s not impossible to train a 1-2 year old, especially since most of them can walk and talk. i think kids can handle a lot more than we give them credit for.
August 11th, 2008 at 8:22 am
I think its just white underwear not a diaper
August 11th, 2008 at 8:28 am
I really feel bad for celebs, they get hounded by the paps for pics of their private lives, now they get hounded by all the righteous people on here who think that THEY should be raising their children. Its a parents right to feed, clothe, diaper and raise their children, how they wish, not how YOU think they should do it. How would YOU all feel if people started commenting on YOUR parenting skills, or lack of? I think this line of comments needs turned off, its getting a little overboard. CBB is going to start losing visitors, starting with me.
August 11th, 2008 at 9:27 am
I’m sure this photo was snapped with no ill intentions, but I think it’s inappropriate and should be taken down.
I wouldn’t want a shot of what’s under my daughter’s dress on any website even one that has such a good reputation as this one.
August 11th, 2008 at 9:29 am
Lucy its a 7th generation diaper, my sons wear them also.
August 11th, 2008 at 9:35 am
We’re sorry this photo caused so much unpleasant discussion here. We just thought it was a super cute photo of parents out having fun with their girl.
August 11th, 2008 at 10:04 am
Danielle… I completely agree with you. I love this family!!
