Misty May-Treanor, Kerri Walsh Share Baby Plans
The decision to delay motherhood in order to focus on a career is almost never easy, but when your career involves being the best in the world, stepping away from the spotlight must seem downright impossible. That’s just what the women’s beach volleyball team of Misty May-Treanor and Kerri Walsh intend to do next year, however. "Hopefully, we’ll both be pregnant," Kerri tells the LA Times of where she sees the duo at this time next year, "pregnant, but with two gold medals." Misty says that after taking a maternity leave, she and Kerri have every intention of returning to the beach volleyball circuit. "I don’t want to throw the R-word in there," she says, "but I mean, I haven’t had a kid, I don’t know." Misty adds,
Priorities change, and it’s tough what we do, traveling internationally and domestically, and if I feel like I can come back two years down the road or whatever and want to give it a go, great.
For Kerri, motherhood would eclipse even a repeat of her gold medal-winning performance from the 2004 Olympic Games; the duo, who are ranked #1 in the world and have won 18 straight tournaments, are unquestionably the favorites in their sport as they compete this week in Beijing. Regardless, "the greatest accomplishment of all is having a baby," Kerri says.
Misty, 31, is married to Florida Marlins catcher Matt Treanor. Kerri, turning 30 on Friday, is married to fellow pro volleyball player Casey Jennings.

I was watching them last night and really started wondering when they were each going to think about kids — not an easy decision in their field!! Good for them!

I think the announcer said that Kerri was turning 30 this week.

I hope they win gold this year and have no trouble with conceiving. Infertility sucks, and I imagine that it would be even harder when the whole world (essentially) knows that you’re trying.

I love seeing celebrities who truly know what is important in this life and what will bring them lasting joy: FAMILY! Sports and movies and music are “fun”, but not really “important.” Best wishes to them in their family goals!

Kerri Walsh looks great! She loves summer and she loves working out so she can show off the results of her work! I read about her fitness and diet program and what makes her a true champion at http://www.projectweightloss.com! Hard work sure pays off! Good luck at the Olympics Kerri!

I was in Hermosa Beach on Thursday….and ran into Kerri Walsh at the Gum Tree Cafe. She is VERY pregnant…and actually shared that if she didn’t go into labor within the next few days, she was going to be induced! She looked healthy and happy….and spent most of the time rubbing her baby belly. Congrats Kerri!
