Carmen Rasmusen Pregnant, Expecting a Son
Update: Carmen is expecting a boy! While congratulating fellow alum Clay Aiken on the birth of his son Parker, she revealed,
I’m actually expecting my first boy this Christmas! Isn’t this crazy? We’re going to both be parents! It’s so exciting – we went from being nobodies to being on American Idol together, and now starting our families [at the same time].
Since our original post below, Bo Bice has also welcomed his son, Caleb James.
Originally posted June 28th: Something is in the water for the alumni of American Idol. Season two contestant Carmen Rasmusen announced to a group of fans on Friday, June 20th that she is currently expecting her first child. The 23-year-old and her husband expect their baby to arrive around Christmas Eve, December 24th.
Other previous contestants who are expecting include Paris Bennett, Clay Aiken, Josh Gracin and Bo Bice.

It does feel weird to see Clay Aiken’s name there. But I’m happy for all of them.

That’s wonderful, I’m so excited for her and her husband.
Some people have been commenting on “kids having kids” and “what is the right age?” I don’t think that there is a “set age”, but i do think that it’s important for a person to be ready physically, financially, and emotionally to be a mother. I know some people will say “but how can you know when you’re ready?” and I guess it’s up to the individual. I think the main issue is the fact that a lot of these young mothers today weren’t planning on becoming pregnant at such a young age. It’s old news now, but take a look at Jamie Lynn Spears. Pregnant at 16? Absolutely NOBODY is ready at that age for motherhood!!!
When I read that Paris was expecting, I was happy that her mother was excited, but at the same time, it concerned me because she is really young. Now yes at 23, Carmen is young as well, but you also have to weigh in the fact that she is married and will have that solid support. Not that single mothers can’t do a good job, they do it every day, but getting married first considerably makes things easier. Anyway, I’m rambling and all I really want to say congrats Carmen!!!
