Carnie Wilson Prepares for Second Pregnancy
Singer Carnie Wilson is 20 pounds away from her weight-loss goal, something that she hopes to reach in two months so she and husband Rob Bonfiglio can start trying for baby number two. The 40-year-old jokes that she plans to "mount my husband" as soon as October rolls around because they both "want a baby in my tummy right away."
Carnie has battled with her weight since she was a little girl, and after having gastric bypass surgery in 1999, she went on to lose 150 pounds. However, when she became pregnant with 3-year-old daughter Lola Sofia in 2004, the Gone Country contestant gained half the weight back. She vows the situation will be different with a second pregnancy, as her new eating habits include "no sugar, no carbs, no dairy, no red meat, no flour of any kind." Not only is she excited about the prospect of feeling "better in my next pregnancy," but she has a premonition about what she and Rob can expect.
I have this weird feeling I’m going to have twins. My sister just had twins. My grandmother was a twin. It’s a serious possibility!

Good for her, go Carnie!! She cracks me up with her “mount my husband” comment!! I know how hard weight loss is and kudos to her for trying to get it off before pregnancy!

why was I thinkin she already was pregnant again?

You Go Girl! It’s a great thing that she tries to lose the weight before becoming pregnant and I hope too that she’s gonna have twins. Lola is a big girl now, she’s really gorgeous, when I look at her I still see the baby that I first saw on the Introducing Lola Sofia photos, she has the same cute face.

wow, that seems like an extremely strict diet to put oneself on while pregnant. i remember gwyneth paltrow attempting to follow the same diet, and then totally craving nothing but cheeseburgers. everything in moderation, carnie!!! best of luck in your try for #2 :0)

Yes, it really wouldn’t be a surprise if she did have twins since EVERY female celebrity seems to have twins these days. But, I do wish her the best of luck! And I hope she feels well throughout!

LOL I thought she was already pregnant too! I think I may have read an article a few months back about her getting in shape for #2. Anyhow, I’m wishing them lots of ‘baby dust’! Lola is so cute & chubby!

And I think the twin thing in Hollywood is the result of a lot of fertility help, though some may not admit it. It really makes me sad since we had IVF with our first and I feel like they’re making it out to be something that is ‘wrong’.

Is that a safe diet to adhere to while pregnant? I’m just thinking no dairy products (as one example) might not be smart since she needs calcium?

poor carnie wilson always had to deal with her weight issue !!! i hope adorable lola doesn’t have the same problem. my family always had a weight issue and it sometimes seems to be genetic.oh well, i love carnie, she’s seems to have a great personality and i adore her sister wendy who was on supernanny !!!!

I can’t let Carnie slide on this one – I know for a fact that she gained back half of her weight from the gastric bypass WAY before she got pregnant. I follow her story particularly since I have considered bypass as an option myself – I just hate when celebs attempt to rewrite history to suit themselves or to paint a rosier picture for their fans. I’m happy that she has set a goal for herself and I do wish her luck in getting pregnant again.

I am just curious, but does anyone know why/how she gained the weight back after the gastric bypass and why she is having so much trouble losing it again? Don’t misunderstand me, I’m not at all trying to be cute or unkind. In my complete ignorance about the procedure, I just thought that the modification made to the stomach/digestive tract made weight loss easier and weight gain more difficult. Again, I’m not trying to offend or insult anybody, I am just trying to get more information.

I have a feeling she will get quite large with her 2nd pregnancy too, she has a lot of weight issues. She might be pregnant already for all we know or maybe she is thinking she might take some fertility drugs, which is why she is saying she thinks she will have twins lol.

Carnie’s having premonitions about having twins aka she’s looking into having some IVF in the near future…see, it’s not that hard to understand celeb-speak.
On a more serious note, I am genuinely worried about Carnie’s diet. Cutting out all those things may indeed spur short term weight loss, but eventually one can assume that she will go back to including those in her diet–which will only lead to the weight coming back on plus. Of course, I am not a doctor nor a dietician, but I am an infamous yo-yo- dieter, and the one thing that has helped me get rid of weight is not restricting whole food groups ie red meat and flour, but implementing consistent portion control and making sure that my caloric intake is in the right proportion to calories burned per day. I feel that depriving yourself completely of certain food usually just makes you crave them all the more and then you end up overeating.

robin m. i know from friend that had the gastric bypass that you can strech your stomach back out over time by overeating and if you don’t watch it, your in the same mess again as before, though i’m not sure you can have the surgery done again?
August 15th, 2008 at 6:35 am
robin m, eventually it is possible to stretch your stomach back to normal size. you have to continue to eat the small and healhy portions! i thought she was pregnant too! anyways, good luck to her

I will say good luck to her but may I also add without offending anyone that I think that it is ridiculous when women gain this much weight while pregnant. She is not the only one either. One of my girlfriends just gained 70 pounds and she was thin to begin with! I think that some women use pregnancy to just let themselves go and it should be the opposite! You need to take care of yourself while pregnant as your baby is getting everything that you put into your mouth. Not that you cant splurge from time to time. I was 5′8, 120 pounds before I got pregnant with my son I gained 28 pounds during my pregnancy and had a 9 pound baby! I also lost my baby weight in no time. I just think that women need to stay fit and healthy even during their pregnancies.

dsmom
I have 4 kids and I’ve been at the exact same prepregnancy weight (140lbs) with every pregnancy, and weighed exactly same at the time of delivery with all of them (190lbs)….a weight gain of 50 lbs with all of them. It wasn’t my diet. I didn’t eat anything I wanted and let myself go. I ate the normal amount that I always have eaten. My OB/GYN said that every woman is different when they’re pregnant and told me that my body obviously had to gain 50 lbs for my pregnancies and that was ok. Bottom line – not everyone gains the textbook 25-35lbs and that’s ok as long as you’re eating healthy.

I hope she can find her way off this weight see-saw. Personally I live by the ‘everything in moderation’ mantra – which I know is not for everyone. But Carnie seems to have such highs and such lows….case in point, her current eating habits: no sugar, no carbs, no dairy, no red meat, no flour. YIKES. How is that sustainable for the long haul? Personally, I don’t think it is, such a restrictive diet usually backfires later. Now I’m not a doctor or a nutritionist (or a therapist for that matter), its just my personal take from watching Carnie’s weight battle over the years. I wish her well, it must be really hard to be on such a roller coaster all the time.

SH, I am sorry if I offended you, That was absolutely not my intention.
August 15th, 2008 at 2:14 pm
dsmom, no offense taken whatsoever on my part at all – just saying that while i agree with you saying that it’s important for one to eat healthy while pregnant, there are those out there who just gain a certain amount of weight while pregnant no matter what or how much they eat, myself included.
August 15th, 2008 at 9:33 pm
Remember too that she’s 40. No matter how healthy or lucky she is, more than likely, she’s going the route of doctor intervention in her desire to be pregnant again. With her weight issues and extreme diet, I’d be surprised if she had regular cycles. If I were her, I’d be going directly to a Reproductive Endocrinologist. The poster above me was right, she’s planning on IVF and know the significant incidence of twins already. I’d be willing to bet we hear the announcement before the end of the year and that’s WITH the few months she’s taking to lose the weight before she starts ‘trying’.

I’m writting from Argentina, and I don’t know exactly who is Carnie Wilson, I just know she was on E! in 100 most….and she was trying to loose weight.
I can see she can’t.
In my opinion she looks very fat, she doesn’t looks healthy to get pregnant again!
I can’t belive she has a gastric bypass!!
I’m sure she eats a lot, and her daughter too. obesity is a huge problem, this illness is killing a lot of people.
