It’s a Boy for Jennylyn Mercado and Patrick Garcia
Filipina actress Jennylyn Mercado and her ex-boyfriend, actor Patrick Garcia, 26, welcomed a son on Saturday, August 16th at St. Luke’s Hospital in Quezon City. The little boy was born between 8 and 9 p.m. and weighed 8 lbs, 12 oz. Becky Aguila, Jennylyn’s manager, reported that she "gave birth to a healthy baby boy via Cesarean section," and that "both mother and son are doing fine."
On July 28th, Jennylyn went into pre-term labor, brought on by a urinary tract infection. With a due date of August 22nd, she was admitted to the hospital where doctors attempted to stop the contractions, citing lung development concerns. The succcess of the procedure enabled Jennylyn to carry her son for another three weeks, delivering just six days before her due date.
