Sporting matching flowy locks, Ryder Russell Robinson perched on dad Chris Robinson’s shoulders on the walk back to their apartment on Monday. The pair had been on a dinner date in the West Village with Chris’ girlfriend, pictured left.
Ryder, 4 ½, is the only child for the Black Crowes rocker, 41, and ex-wife Kate Hudson.

Even though his parents seem to still get along wonderfully, I think their revolving door of partners has to be troublesome or at least confusing for Ryder. Chris doesn’t seem to be as quick to toss partners aside the way Kate does, but this is at least the second girlfriend he has been photographed with in addition to Ryder, which means that it is yet another girl Ryder has become attached or at least used to. I hope he doesn’t develop a distorted view of relationships in the future because of viewing this behavior growing up.

I think meeting many people doesn’t have to be confusing for him. He probably also visits movie sets and his dads concerts where he also meets new people all the time. Just because the girl/boyfriend goes out to diner with them doesn’t mean they act as a father/mother figure to him.
Also, I don’t think his parents are serial daters. Some people act as if they have a new man/woman every week.

This is the second one. He was first with Jane Anne for quite a while. But they didn’t work out and now he is with this lady. In between, Chris had dated someone else, but he knew it wasn’t anything permanent so they never met Ryder.

Wow. Can’t believe I didn’t realise what band he was in till now. And we even saw the Black Crowes opening for the Dave Matthews Band.
Ryder is too adorable though.

i love to see divorced parents like the hudson-ryders being able to be adults & maintain a good rapport, while being attentive coparents. as i recall, kate once mentioned that they ichat all the time with chris &, as a child who grew up not knowing my dad, i think that’s wonderful. he gets to spend all the time he wants with his folks & they are grown up enough to share the responsibility. kudos.

I always wonder why people worry about Ryder and who his parents are dating. I am a single mom, don’t I get to date? Are we assuming that they are sitting the kid down and telling him something along the lines of “Hello son, this is… I will be sleeping with him for a few weeks, don’t get attached.” Can’t we have friends too?
