Elisabeth Röhm on Her Traveling Tricks

Elisabeth_rohm_e_b_gr_04_cbbTraveling on an airplane with a baby is hardly ever a walk in the park, but actress Elisabeth Röhm has learned a few tricks that make the journey a little easier. "I was told to breastfeed upon departure and arrival because [that's] when theirears are popping, so it’s nice that they’re distracted," the new mom explains. "That’s what Idid, and it worked.”

Four-month-old daughter Easton August was so "fantastic" on a plane ride that she took when she was two months old that "people were thanking me when the planes landed because she didn’t cry." Not that Easton cries much anyhow — Elisabeth shared that her daughter "laughs all the time and she’s very expressive."

She’s very connected to the people she loves. She’s sitting up. She laughs out loud –- squeals, screams with delight. I’m like ‘Is that normal?’

Now that Easton has taken over Elisabeth and fiancé Ron Wooster’s life, some things have to play second fiddle, including the 35-year-old’s golden retriever Homer. Elisabeth rescued Homer from a shelter, but admits that "really he rescued me when I found him" because of the great friendship he has shown her. Elisabeth tries her hardest to spend quality time with Homer and reveals that he has adjusted well to welcoming Easton. "I keep calling him a saint because having a new baby, he has been demoted from kingdom," Elisabeth explains. "He is now second place to the baby."

He’s confirming why I love him so much because it was very much a dog’s house before it became a baby-and-dog house!

Elisabeth and Ron plan to marry in October, where both Easton and Homer will play a part in the nuptials.

Every year i travel from Italy to Peru…and is a loooong trip! specially with a baby. The first time my baby came with me she was 8 months, and i did the same as Elisabeth, I breastfeed on departure and arrival, and although it was a long trip, my baby was an angel! everybody congratulated me because she didn’t cry and was always happy, or sleeping.
Second and third trip, my daughter was almost 2 and 3, and my tricks are take with me a lot of different mini toys, bought specially for the trip, so every 2 – 3 hours (11 from Madrid, plus 2 1/2 from Italy to Spain) i take one toy and she has something new to play with, and when she gets bored, then another toy! lol
And also a lot of things to eat because she never eats on restaurants, so on airplanes is imposible! i have crackers, juice, and some candies…for the hard moments :)
Since now these tricks have worked for me, let’s see next year when she will be four, maybe she will be able to make that long trip without the need of a little surprise every hour :)

i’m more interested in the 35 year old retriever(!) i presume you mean human years? not that the dog is 300 or anything….

  4. J Says:

why do celeb parents ALWAYS say their baby doesn’t cry that much?

  5. Michelle Says:

Most babies don’t cry that much. Babies shouldn’t cry unless they have a need that isn’t being met. Obviously some cry more than others, but it’s none of the babies in my family cried all that much either.
