"I just LOVE him and love the fact that he has turned into such a wonderful actor, partner and father. Good for him. The pic with the two of them together just melts my heart. My hubby looks at me like that still and I treasure it because some women wish they could find a good man who will still look at them the same way they did years before."

"If you ask Violet what I do, she'll say she remembers me bowing on stage when I did a show in New York, and so she'll say, 'My mom sometimes will bow on stage and sometimes she gets her hair and makeup done.' It's a great job!"

DeMarcus Ware Opens Up About Life With Marley

For years, Dallas Cowboy DeMarcus Ware and his wife Taniqua dreamed of having a baby. When they were unable, they turned to adoption — and haven’t looked back since. Their daughter Marley, 5 ½-months, has completely changed the 26-year-old linebacker’s perspective on life. Says DeMarcus,

"You are so happy because you have a little bundle of joy in your life. I even find myself going to Wal-Mart looking for little toys. When I’m going grocery shopping looking for food, I’m getting baby food instead of food for myself."

Marley’s adoption unfolded over a series of weeks under bittersweet circumstances, for the Wares were still reeling from Taniqua’s second miscarriage — which followed the stillbirth of the couple’s son Omar in 2006. "Everything happened so fast," Taniqua says, "the timing of it all definitely shows she was meant to be ours." DeMarcus, who was raised in a single parent household, agrees and says that since welcoming his daughter he’s learned not only about the responsibility of fatherhood, but also "how important a child is, and how much happiness a child can bring to a family."

What a beautiful family! I was looking at the pictures from the NYT article and was touched by the striking picture of Marley cradled in DeMarcus’ arm. I’m so happy for them, it sounds like they overflowing with love to give this little girl.

I agree. As an adoptive parent myself, I totally teared up at the pic of them with little Marley. She’s a beautiful baby.

  3. OnyxJones Says:

What a wonderful blessing after so much heartache. Marley is surely a cutie pie. Blessing to the Ware’s!

The site looks different. Does it belong to People now? I am confused..

    In any event, beautiful family!

  5. Kelly Says:

Weeks? Most adoptions, espically of babies, and ESPICALLY of girl babies, takes more like long months or years. No weeks.

  6. Chana Says:

    Aw, those pictures are ADORABLE.

Kelly, I think this article is defining her adoption as the very last stage of the adoption process – not including the paperwork, home study, etc. It might take only (but not usually) a few weeks after being approved for adoption to receive a child. Not unheard of.

  7. SeanJay Says:

Maybe it was private? My friends got her adopted baby in a couple weeks from start to finish.

  8. Leigh Says:

If I recall correctly, the couple were told about a woman who was expecting and looking to relinquish the child for adoption. Most likely they were introduced in some way and arranged everything through private lawyers. Being chosen by a birth mother is, indeed, a speedy process in comparison to agency adoptions.

And what a beautiful family that was created in such a beautiful way! :)

  9. Nicole Says:

I don’t like the new changes to the site.:(

  10. Crystal Says:

I love this family. I live in Dallas and my sis-in-law is close to the family b/c she was Taniqua’s ultrasound tech. When she told me that had adopted a daughter my heart was so full of happiness for them. I know things have been difficult for them but this is just so fantastic! CONGRATS and BEST WISHES to the Ware family!! :)

  11. T Says:

I was just wondering about DeMarcus and his family. As an AA raised with my father out of the home I love how important being a father was to him and how much he appreciates the joy a child brings into your life! I wish them the best…and Marley is just the cutest little thing!!!

How down to earth is that a multi-millionaire shops at Wal-Mart? :-D
