Naomi Watts and Sasha Leave the Big Apple

Naomi Watts had her hands full — with Vanity Fair and 13-month-old son Alexander ‘Sasha’ Pete — as she left her Soho apartment on Tuesday in NYC. The actress, 39, had help from Sasha’s nanny as she packed up the car and left the city, perhaps headed back to the Hamptons, where she and fiancé Liev Schreiber have spent the summer.
Earlier this week, Naomi supported big brother Ben at the opening of his photography exhibit. She and Liev expect their second child in early winter.

Sasha is soooooo cuteeeee!!!!!!!!
He is my favorite celebrity baby boy and Naomi looks great with her funny dress!
I also have a feeling that she’s going to have another boy,I don’t know why,is just a feeling..

Kelly I was just saying that on the post with the picture of Naomi and her brother! I remember how off everyone was on her due date last time, plus she ended up saying Sasha arrived a week early. She seems to pop mid-second trimester and stay big through the end. She’s all belly though. Looks great.

Sasha is the Slavic nickname for Alexander. Liev is Ukrainian, and Naomi had said that’s how they came up with it after his birth. They were still calling him Sasha in interviews as recently as August (http://www.celebrity-babies.com/2008/08/naomi-watts-tim.html) so we’ve continued to include it on CBB.

to add to sarah’s reply – all slavic names have a diminutive form – which rarely does the person NOT go by… the diminutive form of alexander is sasha. (a few others: natalya – natasha, maria/marina – masha, alexei – alyosha…)

She looks so great. It doesn’t seem like long ago she was really small, and now she has just popped! She does carry bigger but it is all belly (I will be so jealous of her someday!)

I think another boy too.
Just to add, Sasha is a nickname for boys and girls with the name Alexander/Alexandra. It’s very traditional in Russian/Ukranian Culture..as well as other Slavic Cultures.
other examples are Yasha, Misha, Tanya, Katya. (Jacob, Michael, Tatiana, Katherine..the american forms of the Russian names).
