Billy Martin Reveals Pregnancy Details, Advice From Joel

Having recently announced that he and wife Linzi are expecting their first child, Good Charlotte guitarist Billy Martin let PEOPLE in on the details of the big moment. He shares, “We bought a pregnancy test without even stressing or sweating. She went to take it, I sat down at my desk, and two minutes later she came out and said, ‘I’m pregnant!’ All the sound in the world stopped for a minute. I was shocked — but excited.” The dad-to-be reveals that the baby is due in late January, and — regardless of the sex — will have an Alice’s Adventures In Wonderland-themed nursery. “We’re not going to do anything dark and spooky that’s going to scarethe baby,” Billy, 27, laughs. “We want a lighter, happier version. If it’s a girl, maybe more Alice-based, and if it’s a boy, more Mad Hatter and Cheshire Cat.”
Despite Billy and Linzi having been together over eight years, finally tying the knot in March, Good Charlotte bandmate Joel Madden beat him in the daddy race. As proud papa to 8-month-old daughter Harlow Winter Kate, the lead singer has been bestowing some fatherly wisdom upon him, explains Billy. “Joel says it’s going to change my whole world, but fatherhood is the best thing that ever happened to him,” the guitarist reveals.
“He tells me not to stress out, and to try to take everything in stride and enjoy it because it’s the coolest thing that can happen to you.”

I’m so happy for Billy and Linzi. I’m a huge Good Charlotte fan and was lucky enough to run into them during Good Charlotte’s tour this summer. I was totally shocked when I read Billy’s blog but I think he will make a great Daddy.
congratulations!!!!

That nursery idea is great! Very practical thinking on how to switch it up based on the baby’s gender.

I can’t say I’m a fan of Good Charlotte–being of a different generation–but the Martin’s choice of Alice in Wonderland is truly inspired. Given a baby’s vision and the way it develops, using black, white, & red is really excellent as well for brain development.
