"I just LOVE him and love the fact that he has turned into such a wonderful actor, partner and father. Good for him. The pic with the two of them together just melts my heart. My hubby looks at me like that still and I treasure it because some women wish they could find a good man who will still look at them the same way they did years before."

"If you ask Violet what I do, she'll say she remembers me bowing on stage when I did a show in New York, and so she'll say, 'My mom sometimes will bow on stage and sometimes she gets her hair and makeup done.' It's a great job!"

Kevin Costner Does the Math on Being an Older Dad

When Kevin Costner said shortly after the birth of his now 16-month-old son Cayden Wyatt that his "fundamental fear" involved dying and leaving Cayden to be raised by someone else, it raised eyebrows. Asked recently by the Times Online whether — at his age — it is an "odd" fear to have, Kevin, 53, held his ground, telling the newspaper "I don’t think so." He added,

"I think to myself, am I going to see him go to college? Am I going to see him graduate? You start doing the math. You begin to look at things that way. You know, I don’t worry about it every day, but I was asked the question, so I just articulated the answer the best way I could… Are you anxious to die?"

Cayden is the first child together for Kevin and his wife Christine Costner; He has four other children — Annie, 24, Lilly, 21, Joe, 20, and Liam, 11 — from previous relationships.

who is Liam by? I thought he only had kids by his first wife and this wife.

    steph

Why would people say that is an “odd” fear to have, and expecting him to justify his remarks somehow. Is it not reasonable to ask these questions when you are parenting a child you are old enough to be the grandfather of? Not that I am saying he shouldn’t have had the child, but his thoughts are certainly reasonable.

  3. Pamela Says:

Liam was from a relationship KC had with Bridget Rooney about a year after his divorce from Cindy. Bridget’s father is of the famous Rooney family that owns the football team/stadium. Can’t remember the team, maybe the Pittsburgh Steelers?

I hear Kev and Chris are not stopping at just one child. And why not? They make beautuful babaies together and goodness knows they can afford to have as many as they wants!

  4. Stephany Says:

LisaS, I thought the same thing! It seems like a pretty normal fear to have, especially for someone have a child in his fifties.

Anyway, Cayden is SUCH a cute baby! Kevin is also SUCH a cutie! :)

  5. Christine Says:

I have to agree with Lisa and Stephany… I think its a completely normal fear an older parent would have. Do the math, like he says… When his son goes to college he’ll be 70, and 74 upon graduation. While that is still “young” by today’s standards, things happen. I woiuld actually be more shocked if he didn’t talk about the age issue.
