How Does Amy Poehler Keep Her Life Balanced? By Holding On!

Amy Poehler and Will Arnett aren’t expecting their first child until next month — when Amy jokes her baby "drops" and she expects "everybody to go out and get it" — but that hasn’t stopped the mom-to-be from already planning their baby’s wedding! Opting for a delivery surprise, Amy doesn’t care if it’s a boy or girl because either way she wants the baby "to marry Alice Richmond, Tina [Fey]’s daughter." According to Amy, the Saturday Night Live actresses would "make a lovely mother and mother-in-law of the bride!" Her other wish for her unborn child? To inherit Will’s "terrific, terrific legs" instead of Amy’s, which she claims resemble those of a "10-year-old boy!"
When Amy isn’t planning future nuptials for her baby, lately she has been quite busy "crying at everything." From episodes of Extreme Makeover: Home Edition to trees blowing in the wind, Amy says there is absolutely "no shame" in the hormonal ups and downs of pregnancy. In addition to her emotional roller coaster, the 37-year-old actress has also worked up quite an appetite during the day, admitting to often snacking between her double indulgence breakfasts! "I ate two waffles, a banana, and cereal with blueberries. And that was between my two breakfasts," joked Amy during an interview with USA Today. With an ever-growing craving for food and a belly to match, when Amy is asked how she manages to balance it all between her pregnancy and her work schedule, she takes the question quite literally!
"My balance — it’s about not falling down. I am short of stature and I have a giant, giant, 40-pound cement beach ball in my front area. The way I balance all of it is, I put my hand on someone’s shoulder and ask them to escort me to the next scene."

With the decision to hide her belly during her final appearances on SNLas much as possible, Amy wishes that she could do the same for her bignight at the Emmys this evening! Saying she is "super-thrilled to goand so excited that, physically, I can still go," Amy jokes that alongwith "a team of scientists and engineers," the group have alreadyschemed to avert the eye from the belly up to the face. Keeping instyle with Will who is "going to wear vertical stripes that point up tothe sky," Amy will be going for a similar ensemble, choosing "a dresswith a neon arrow pointing to the sky." As the actress jokes about herEmmy outfit, going as far as to wish she could show up in "a wrestlingsinglet and flip-flops," her worries on making the worst dressed listsaren’t far from her mind as she warns that picking on a pregnant woman"would be kind of rude!"

Yes i love amy poehler! She better win tonight! She is having twins, I’m convinced! Too bad Will didn’t win his emmy. I was shocked. She is soo cute!

She was super funny tonight on the Emmy’s! I just love her! She’s my favorite female comedy actress
*Side note-I watched the EMMY’S tonight with a few family members, all female, and two of them commented on how they think she “looks like she is having a girl” because of the puffy appearance of her face. Is that a common rumor? Is it more common to puff up more when they are having girls? Any truth to it?
I find that the old wives tales are usually false. My mother (who before becoming pregnant was a petite 5′2 and weighed around 110 lbs) carried her baby weight all over. She gained 60 lbs with her first boy and was not an “out front” belly like a lot of women are. She also said she had no morning sickness with us boys. Her sister, on the other hand, had sickness with her girls.
I personally think it’s probably all about what the woman eats during her pregnancy. If she is eating a lot of salty foods and sweets, normally that will cause a face to puff up. Salty foods cause swelling so that could be why!
The morning sickness thing in relation to baby girls has some fact to it though. I forget the name of the chemical but there is definetly some reliability to that myth.

Rye, it’s just an old wive’s tale. Whether your face puffs up depends on how your body retains water, just like how some women get bloated before their period and others don’t.
Abby, why do you keep saying she’s having twins? Just curious. Amy hasn’t gained a lot of weight and she’s always said she’s just having one baby.

MB- I agree with both of your comments. I have heard plenty about that pesky “time of the month bloat”, but, thus far, I’m one of those lucky women who DOESN’T get bloated before her period!
As for your comment about why Abby keeps saying she’s having twins…I agree with you, but I also see where she’s coming from.
J-Lo and Angelina didn’t confirm they were having twins until pretty far into their pregnancies (in fact, J-Lo never confirmed hers at all! It was her dad who confirmed it!).
Perhaps Abby thinks it’s the same with Amy. However, I also want to point out that Amy, as you said MB, has always said she’s having one baby. J-Lo and Angie, on the other hand, never said that.
In fact, Angie didn’t discuss her pregnancy at all (except to say that she “felt kicking suddenly” in the middle of the Vital Voices Event that she attended) until Jack Black slipped and accidentally announced that she and Brad were expecting twins!
