It’s a boy for British fashion designer Alice Temperley and her husband Lars von Bennigsen. The couple welcomed son Fox London Temperley von Bennigsen Mackiewicz on Saturday, September 20th at 9 a.m. in London. Alice and Fox are both "happy and healthy," according to a representative from the Temperley London press office.

"Having successfully returned to London to show the Temperley London spring/summer 2009 collection on September 15, only five days prior to giving birth, it has been an eventful but wonderful time for the designer and first time mother."

The couple announced the pregnancy in March and opted for a delivery surprise. Fox was born on his due date.

  2. phoebe Says:

Wow, that’s definately a name! I wonder how long it will take him to be able to spell it?! Congrats to mummy and daddy!

  3. Brandi Says:

Congratulations, and I agree, what a name!! Where is Mackiewicz from?

  4. ellen Says:

    where did Mackiewicz came from?

  5. fay Says:

i love that name… although it IS quite long…

it’s so frustrating when ppl say, “i wonder how long it takes them to learn how to spell their name” i have 4 names, they are ALL quite long, and none of them are american or english names…

(pheobe i don’t think u meant it like this, but i’m just sensitive abt the topic)

ppl always ask me how long it took me to learn how to spell it… when in actuality when i started playschool at 3 i was the ONLY child who knew how to spell their name… amongst all the john’s and sara’s… it takes the same amt of time to teach a child john as it does anastasia as it does abul-rahman…

IT’S THEIR NAME, they’re gonna see it everyday and learn it…

my little cousin has 10 quadrasyllabic names, she knew them all by the time she was 2 and could write all of them by the time she was 4. her sister who’s name is nicole, didn’t learn till she was 5…

i know i’m gonna get a bunch of replies abt me being too sensitive, but some of you ppl say some really MEAN things about what ppl choose to name THEIR children… i HOPE none of you are teachers… i’ve gotten into quite a few arguments w/ rude and unrefined teachers who’ve made uneccessary and offensive comments abt my name… it’s really just RUDE…(again not DIRECTLY at phoebe..)

  6. Mirabai Says:

I am reminded of The X Files and the numerous occasions when the name ‘Fox’ Mulder would raise a scripted eyebrow from characters (not to mention the initial reaction of fans!).

I would like to think that these days there is an acceptance of names that are different given how many people in my reality, and about whom I read online, are giving their children unusual names. Diversity and uniqueness are wonderful things. I pity those who sneer at the same.

  7. LanLan Says:

    what an unusual name…

  8. Rachel-Jane Says:

I actually really really like the name. Fox is great, and London goes well with it.

I’m curious as to where the Mackiewicz comes from though, anyone know?

  9. Mani Says:

    Mirabel,

Speaking of X-Files, Gillian Anderson (who is also due soon herself) joked about naming her son Fox, lol, actually and she wears a lot of Temperley fashions I believe.

    Weird Huh..

  10. Mirabai Says:

    @Mani

cue the theme music… spooky, indeed!

  11. Phaedra Says:

I love the name Fox!! It’s one of my top 5 boy’s names.
