Mustela’s 9 Months Pregnancy Program

Mustela’s 9 Months Pregnancy Program

At 36 weeks pregnant, I’m willing to try any product that is helpful in preventing stretch marks. Especially in these last few weeks of pregnancy when you really notice your body is expanding. Everywhere.

So I set out to try Mustela’s 9 Months Pregnancy Program—a kit of 4 pre-natal products including:  Stretch Marks  Double Action cream, Specific Support Bust, Instant Comfort Legs and Ultimate Hydration.

I really liked the Stretch Marks Double Action cream.  It’s best to layer it on, then give yourself enough time to let it dry. If you try to get dressed too quickly after applying, you will notice your top sticking to your belly.

Specific Support is supposed to soothe breast tightest but I have to say, I haven’t had any tightness here since the few first months of pregnancy.  The cream is very subtle with a nice scent.  It wasn’t really a necessity for me, but the Ultimate Hydration body lotion was wonderful.  It helps with overall dryness that I’ve been experiencing throughout pregnancy. Even the soles of my feet are dry so this lotion was great for overall hydration.

Instant Comfort Legs made my legs tingle when applied. It’s sort of a caffeine boost for your tired legs at the end of the day.  I liked to apply this before bed and massage into my calves and ankles.  It too, is a bit sticky, so allow for enough time to air dry.

The best thing about the 9 Months Pregnancy Program is that it comes in small travel sizes. You can pop them into your bag and take them on the go. Perfect for travel or for a week of being pampered—on the go.

If you only get one of these products, I’d suggest the Stretch Marks Double Action cream. It makes your belly feel soft and supple. I haven’t noticed any stretch marks on my body yet—and I’m hoping it stays that way.  But how much does the cream help vs. nature and genetics?  No clear answer here!

They say that you can’t prevent stretch marks, but I don’t know about that. I’ve always gotten stretch marks, I’m prone to them. I got my first ones as a teen when my breasts grew too fast. I didn’t know what they were! I’ve struggled with my weight all my life and I have a lot of old, silvery, healed stretch marks. I’m 41 years old and I was determined to do whatever I could to prevent stretch marks when I got pregnant at the beginning of the year (I’m due tomorrow, in fact.) I did a bunch of research and the best reviews I found were for the Mama Mio line. Well, they were right. I’m 40 weeks tomorrow and I don’t have any new stretch marks! None. And my belly is HUGE. I attribute it to the Mama Mio tummy oil. Fabulous stuff. When I was really expanding and I could feel it in my tight, itchy skin, instead of reapplying the oil I started the day with Aquaphor on top of the tummy oil, and that worked really well.

I do like Mustela products, and I’m sure they’re great, but having gone this far and this successfully with Mama Mio, I don’t want to switch. BTW, their products smell fabulous–it’s a light scent, but wonderful. I also liked their Boob Tube and the super-thick body cream which is great in winter months but not necessary for me in warm weather.
