Nicole and Joel’s Foundation Raises $10K for Playground

In only eight days, the Richie-Madden Children’s Foundation has already collected $10,000 of the $35,000 needed to build a playground at Beyond Shelter, a low-income Los Angeles housing project with no recreational facilities for the 175 children who reside there. Nicole Richie and Joel Madden, who announced the project last week, are thrilled with the response thus far, sharing that they have received $5 donations from 1,825 text messages coming from 48 states.

If you’d like to help, it’s easy to do! Simply text CHILD to 90999 on your cell phone, and $5 will be chargedon your bill the following month. The Richie-Madden Children’s Foundation collectsthe payments from the cell phone carriers, and the donations fund the playground.

   Beyond Shelter is an amazing organization. I live in LA and adopt a family every Christmas through them. It is a fulfilling experience for our family to give to theirs. Bless the Richie-Madden Foundation for helping them too. I’m thrilled they are a part of such a wonderful thing.

   Why don’t they just donate the 35k needed for this playground themselves??! You know they could afford it! Or they could ask one of thier MILLIONARE friends to pay to build it instead of buying a $20,000 purse or a $500,000 car…or a $900.00 stroller like Nichole Richie here. I understand that this is supposed to be a charity, but I think this is a publicity stunt and that if they really wanted those kids to have a playground they would sell some shoes or something and pay for it themselves! (I would say all of that to their faces if given a chance!)
