Nicole Kidman Spellbound By Motherhood

Shooting the epic Australia in remote sections of Western Australia brought its fair share of misery — including everything from oppressive heat to torrential rains to even a case of equine flu that temporary robbed the film of its horses. In a new interview with The Australian Women’s Weekly, however, Nicole Kidman reveals that it wasn’t all doom and gloom on set. "Seven babies were conceived out of this film and only one was a boy," the 41-year-old actress explains. "There is something up there in the Kununurra water because we all went swimming in the waterfalls, so we can call it the fertility waters now." That Nicole became pregnant with her own baby — 11-week-old Sunday Rose, with husband Keith Urban — during the shoot was very much a surprise.
"I never thought that I would get pregnant and give birth to a child but it happened on this movie. Nothing happened in a small way on this film."
Nicole — who feels "lucky" to be tall, which she credits for her ability to carry "small" — reiterated earlier statements that her pregnancy ended with an easy delivery. "I have to say, I had a birth that I was blessed with, a labor that was very good and a baby that was very good to me in that regard." Already mom to 15-year-old Isabella Jane and 13-year-old Connor Antony with ex-husband Tom Cruise, Nicole is quick to give credit where credit is due. "They say that [an easy labor] is genetic, so I’m grateful for that because it was beautiful and Keith was my rock through it all." Calling motherhood "exhausting" and "spellbinding" all at once, Nicole adds,
"To be given this again is a beautiful thing. To have raised Bella and Connor since I was 25 and now to be able to do it again at 41…Wow!"
Australia is slated for release in November.

How amazing that seven babies were born from that movie. That’s very special. I love hearing stories like hers. Especially considering how long she has tried to have a child and then to be blessed with her beautiful baby. It gives me hope that one day all the struggles will pay off and I will finally have my own beautiful baby.

I wish they would do a photo shoot with Sunday, I would love to see her face! On another note….keep the Faith– Blue, I fought for four years to have a baby, and now she is NINE!

I admire her, she never stops saying how she’s blessed for having a kid at that age. Likewise she never stopped saying how much she wanted a child though she knew she may never have one. That takes a lot of courage. She’s the best mom ever (after my mom, lol!)

Megan they live with their dad, step-mom, and grandmother (right?) in LA. Nicole has said that since the kids are older they preferred to be in one place. I believe she and Keith just bought a home in LA to be closer to them.

I realize that the main reason Nicole looked so small during pregnancy was because she’s so tall, but wasn’t the baby a small baby too? I thought I read she was about 6 pounds which seems on the small side these days.

Well Bella and Connor definitely aren’t with Cruise and Holmes in NYC….they live right down the street from me and I have seen all 3 of them but no big kids..

Has anyone seen pics of her towards the end of her pregnancy? From the pics I’ve seen everywhere, I’m thinking she never was pregnant. I don’t think it was about privacy, she would’ve flaunted it to the end. Did you see how skinny she was right after she gave birth with very small breasts (that pic of her in all white that circulated everywhere after she gave birth), while every celeb out there waits at least a month to come out from hiding. Now recently she’s hiding behind clothes and jackets. She could’ve easily had a fake bump when she was still small…you could see she never discontinued lip injections and botox. There was a rumor she used a surrogate..I’m almost thinking that’s true as I’m sure she didn’t want the scrutiny of a zillion questions. Nothing shameful about that, but when you’re a huge star, you don’t want to do or say anything out of the norm. Just a thought.

Yes, Jane. Sunday was born at 6lbs and 7 and a half ounces but she is a big one now looking at the recent pictures hehe.
I know Nicole said 7 babies were conceived while the movie was shooting but according to an article on the film itself, on the last count FIFTEEN babies have been born since filming started in April last year and they are still working on it in post-production.
I certainly hope the cast and crew didn’t just spend time making babies but devoted time to the film they were supposed to be making lol.

Kim- I believe Connor and Bella usually stay in LA with their grandmother and aunt (Tom’s sister, who lives with the Cruises along with Tom’s mother) when their parents and sister travel, due to their school, sports, etc. schedules.
Also, Connor is 13 and Bella is 15. At that age (especially at Bella’s age), kids usually don’t want to hang out with their parents. In fact, I know of some people with kids Bella’s age who have said that the kids are basically “only at home to sleep”!

That’s a very inspiring story. So many babies born, wow. I love Nicole and I’m glad she is so blessed.
In terms of her pregnancy, don’t hate me, but I was the same way! I’m 5′9 and was 135 when I found out I was pregnant, I lost weight in my first trimester…that’s what happens when you stop drinking beer and eating cheeseburgers and pizza everyday:) I didn’t show until I was around 7 months. No matter what I ate I felt like I couldn’t get a belly and I wanted one so bad! My daughter was almost 7 lbs though, perfectly normal. Long torsos must hide babies!
