Kirk Cameron: Entertainment Industry Not the Place for Kids

Actor Kirk Cameron grew up before our eyes on the television show Growing Pains, and even though it was good for him, he doesn’t want the same for his kids just yet. In a new interview promoting his film Fireproof, Kirk, 37, explained, "I don’t think that growing up in the entertainment industry is the healthiest place for kids," adding, "the track record kind of shows that."
However, that doesn’t mean that his kids can’t go into the field, eventually — just not now! Even though all six of his kids "love being silly and goofy," it appears as if one of them — 10-year-old daughter Anna — may just make that jump into entertainment when the time is right.
"Anna is destined to be a singer or an actress. She’s got it."
Kirk and his wife, actress Chelsea Noble, are parents to Jack, born in 1996, Isabella, born in 1997, Anna, Luke, born in 2000, Olivia Rose, 7, and James Thomas, 5.
Fireproof hits theaters Friday, September 26th.

I LOVE him! He was my childhood crush and the person he is today is even more appealing!
What a great movie to star in – the importance of working through problems in a marriage and sticking it out, making it better and rising above selfish desires! I can’t wait to go see this! And since it’s PG… I will!

The movie looks interesting. I don’t always agree with Kirk’s beliefs, but I give him credit for sticking to them. I might drag my husband to this one. It might light a fire his butt

I read in another article that he refused to kiss his costar in this movie. They had to use shading, and have his real wife stand in for the kissing scenes. He said he will never kiss anyone but his wife. Wow – you don’t hear that everyday…

I like him so much!

Aren’t all of his kids adopted, too? Like, he seems a bit extreme to me, but I can’t not like someone who adopts so many kids.

Why is he extreme? He hasn’t done anything crazy. He stays out of the spotlight. These days anyone who has a belief system that isn’t “popular” or “PC” is considered “extreme”. Get over yourself.
You go, Kirk!

I always liked him on growing pains, he seems like a good dad and husband. Anais the 4 oldest jack, isabella, anna and luke were adopted, but the 2 youngest olivia and james are chelsea and his bio kids

This film sounds truly bad! mtoo, I don’t think people just see religion as extreme but if you read his website and also the one of candace cameron yes that is extreme.

I’m sorry but what about his website is controversial??? He’s a Christian and has a camp for seriously ill children. I hardly see that as extreme.

I just saw the movie fireproof.. I liked and had a crush on kirk as a kid myself.. Nice to see he has done so well with himself and doing things that are so positive for today’s society and today’s kids.. My kids went and saw the movie with me and my husband… Also it is so nice to have a movie out there that does not have the bad language, the violence and all the blood and guts, and the sex scenes that a lot of the movies have these days.. I recommended the movie to the teachers at my children’s schools, and all my friends.. I will keep Kirk and his family in my prayers.. thanx Shannon
