"I just LOVE him and love the fact that he has turned into such a wonderful actor, partner and father. Good for him. The pic with the two of them together just melts my heart. My hubby looks at me like that still and I treasure it because some women wish they could find a good man who will still look at them the same way they did years before."

"If you ask Violet what I do, she'll say she remembers me bowing on stage when I did a show in New York, and so she'll say, 'My mom sometimes will bow on stage and sometimes she gets her hair and makeup done.' It's a great job!"

James Morrison on Embracing Fatherhood

Although James Morrison and his longtime girlfriend Gill "aren’t getting a lot of sleep" since welcoming their daughter Elsie earlier this month, all that time spent awake has at the very least been peaceful. In an interview with GMTV the 24-year-old singer recently revealed that Elsie is a contented baby, and suggested that her demeanor might be tied to his own. "I’m quite relaxed, and so she’s quite relaxed." The couple were looking for a "Granny" name, James said, and that’s how they decided upon Elsie. "We wanted to pick something that was old-fashioned," he said. "I really like it."

James’ new album Songs For You, Truths For Me features several songs inspired by impending fatherhood. While the emotions were something he was at first hesitant to share, he quickly changed his mind.

"I didn’t know I was going to do that, I wanted [the baby] to be my private thing.  But it’s so exciting, such a life changing thing, that you want to embrace it, not hide away from it.  So I tried to write about it in a subtle way."

Elsie is the first child for the couple. Songs For You, Truths For Me is scheduled for release on September 30th.

My nanna’s name is Elsie. So I guess they were spot on with the ‘granny’ name!

  2. Caitlin Says:

Added to that, my grandfather (Elsie’s husband) is James and my mother (their daughter) is Gillian-Gill for short.

  3. Heather Says:

Caitlin- That is way too weird and funny about your Grandparents names and Moms name being that of the three of them. I know in your case your Nanna is Elsie and your Mom is Gill so it’s flip flopped but still pretty cool!! :) Thanks for sharing that.

  4. Michelle Z. Says:

My Grandma’s first name is Elsie, too! But she doesn’t like the name, and has always gone by her middle name.

  5. phoebe Says:

I do like some of the retro names, such as Violet, and I’m not as keen on this one but I still think it’s cute. I don’t know why, but I always get James Morrison confused with James Blunt and that’s who I thought this article was about at first, and I was thinking ‘woah, when did he have a baby?!’ lol. Great news and congratulations to the family!

  6. SH Says:

My gramma’s name was Elsie Caroline. She died 6 weeks after my daughter was born who is actually named after her. I didn’t have the guts to use Elsie though!…So my daughters name is Ella Caroline. Elsie is a really cute name though and I’m sure it will start being used a lot more here soon…old fashioned names seem to do that.
