Fame Battles Fatherhood for Comedian Josh Blue

Life as a comedian leaves Josh Blue on the road a good part of the year, which would be okay if he wasn’t missing his wife Yuko and their 6 ½-month-old son Simon. However, he doesn’t have to worry that they’re alone — the family lives in a carriage house behind a home that Josh renovated into apartments for his friends so that "people I trust and love are there for my wife." When he is home with his family, the Last Comic Standing winner tries to focus solely on them, but admits that sometimes fame can get in the way of fatherhood.
"You know, being famous is not always awesome. Gettingrecognized when you are out with your wife and family and you just wantto be a family man … it’s just part of the deal, I guess. I can’t gettoo mad about it."
The 29-year-old regrets missing some of Simon’s milestones while on the road performing, but treasures the time he does get to spend with him, even if it’s a little rough! Josh — who lives with cerebral palsy — shared that his little boy is "a pretty strong little dude," which he explains is good, as "Dad is not the most gentle of people" due to spasms and involuntary movements caused by his condition.

Is it known if Simon had cerebral Palsy. I’m not sure if it’s genetic or not, I was just curious.

Jess- No CP isn’t genetic, it’s a brain injury to the motor control cortex that usually happens at birth due to prematurity or a “rough” delivery where the head gets squished. I have CP and in my case I was very very premature.

You may want to consider changing ’suffers from’ to ‘has’ or ‘lives with’. Many people with disabilities try to maintain a more positive view on life – and I imagine Josh is one of them.

Thank you Kris for clearing that up for me
