"I just LOVE him and love the fact that he has turned into such a wonderful actor, partner and father. Good for him. The pic with the two of them together just melts my heart. My hubby looks at me like that still and I treasure it because some women wish they could find a good man who will still look at them the same way they did years before."

"If you ask Violet what I do, she'll say she remembers me bowing on stage when I did a show in New York, and so she'll say, 'My mom sometimes will bow on stage and sometimes she gets her hair and makeup done.' It's a great job!"

Instincts Led Angelina Jolie to Son, Actress Says

Fate led Angelina Jolie to her son Maddox Chivan, 7, the 33-year-old actress says in a new interview with Parade. After visiting Cambodia, Angelina felt as though she had "left something behind" upon her return to the United States; on a follow-up trip she says her instincts could no longer be ignored. "I felt, ‘My son’s here,’" Angelina explains. "It was the strangest feeling."

"I woke up that morning thinking, ‘They’re going to introduce me to my kid today and I wonder how I’m going to feel.’ And the moment I saw Maddox I knew I was his mother. I can’t explain it."

Six years and five more children later — together with partner Brad Pitt, the couple are also parents to Pax Thien, 4 ½, Zahara Marley, 3 ½, Shiloh Nouvel, 2, and 3-month-old twins Knox Léon and Vivienne Marcheline  — Angelina acknowledges that she’s now the matriarch of a "high-profile family." Paparazzi can be intrusive, and the couple are often left walking "a fine line of wanting [the children] to be aware of strangers but not making them afraid." She and Brad tackle the topic head on, however. "Like everything with children, it’s just communication and being honest with them," she explains. Regardless of the paparazzi’s constant presence, or the ebb and flow of her career, Angelina says that for her — family is all that matters. "The world can like me, hate me, fall apart around me, and at least, you know, I wake up with my little kids and I’m happy," she says.

"I’m just a mom and I’m very grounded by my family. I’m very happy, and I’m so lucky."

Angelina’s new movie, Changeling, is in theaters October 31st.

Wow to juggle 6 children, film career ~ especially both parents in the limelight. Must be tough, they do have beautiful children.

  2. Kay Says:

They have beautiful children. I wish they would protect them more from the limelight. Oh and the travelling.

Webmistress thank you for putting down the breast feeding pictures. They were offensive and in bad taste. It would have been different were they for promoting breast feeding but not for promoting a movie. That crosses the line. Thank you

Angelina really does sound grounded. I love her interviews. She’s loving being a mom and I think it’s obvious. Her children are what is distracting her from all the stuff written about her and Brad in the rag mags. If not for them, she really might go nuts worrying about what people think about her.

  4. Jess Says:

    Beautiful family!

    Love hearing about the munchkins!

  5. amandamay Says:

what a lovely interview :-) such a gorgeous family!!

  6. Mia Says:

she is extremely grateful and doesn’t take anything for granted. I think that’s what makes her so down to earth, and her family and brad and everything.

  7. Baby Girl Says:

The woman is philanthropic, charitable and has enough maternal instinct to bring about world peace with one hand tied behind her back; what’s not to like?

I wonder if their will be any more adoptions for this family in the future after the twins are older?

Was my comment not posted because I corrected an error the reporter made?????

  10. Natasha Says:

I will never forget flying across the country and waiting to be introduced to my son. It was surreal and wonderful and he was mine from the moment I saw him. Bravo to Angelina for phrasing it so beautifully!

  11. Amber Says:

Not a big fan of them, but I do completely agree with her views on her children. I used to worry about the littlest things, but once my daughter was born, nothing else mattered as long as we’re together. It’s amazing what kind of impact children can have on you!

  12. MaríaM2 Says:

I am looking so forward to this issue-interview. I don’t buy them all but I think this one like the two People issues about the births, and this one are worth the price. I don’t care what anyone says, I have great affection for this family without apology.

  13. anne Says:

I wonder why she got special treatment and was allowed to CHOOSE her adopted children. It happens that I use the same adoption agency that she did for all of her kids, and I dont get to go pick out my baby, I get to have the child referred like everyone else. I guess money talks.
