Dennis Quaid: No Plan To Change My Day in Any Way

Most Wanted/Flynet

A self-proclaimed "creature of habit," actor Dennis Quaid has his daily routine down to a perfect science and has no plans to alter his day in any way! Beginning his day with his three kids — son Jack Henry, 16, and fraternal twins Thomas Boone and Zoe Grace, 11 months — Dennis drives his oldest to school and takes full advantage of being out of the house, often stopping to play golf. With two babies needing attention at home, the 54-year-old then heads home to "play with the kids a bit" before he is back outdoors taking an afternoon ride on his horse. Calling himself "obsessive about what I do," Dennis finishes his day off with dinner and then spends time relaxing. "When I find something I really like, I stick with it," says Dennis.

Providing another update on his twins, Dennis says that the babies have had "no ill effects" from the overdose incident and are "completely healthy and happy." While Dennis is "really grateful" that his children have fully recovered, he, along with his wife Kimberly Buffington Quaid, are adamant about "minimizing the impact of human error in the hospital." The couple have started The Quaid Foundation to spread the word and push for "bedside bar-coding and electronic recording keeping in hospitals, which would lower the likelihood of mistakes being made."

Jack is Dennis’ son with actress Meg Ryan. Dennis’ new movie, The Express, is in theaters October 10th. Click here to see Boone, Zoe, and more celebrity multiples in our twins gallery!

I think it’s great to still enjoy your life after having children, but isn’t it a little selfish to stick to the same life style you had before having kids? Does his wife get to still enjoy “relaxing” and doing her equivalent of golfing? Maybe that’s just how it sounded to me.

  2. Afila Says:

Are we sure these quotes are new or real? Jack Henry lives with his mother at least half of the time – probably even more – so his routine of bringing him to school is not exactly an every day thing.

Jess, they have a fulltime nanny so I would not worry about his current wife not having time to relax.

  3. Deb Says:

Old and set in his ways? I read it the same way you did too, Jess. With young babies at home you would think he either would not publically speak about HIS FREE TIME or make himself more available at home. I wonder if his wife has as much free time for herself or is she a “homebody”.

  4. Jen Says:

As a parent of 3, your life is not your own after children. It is fine to enjoy “your” time when you are a parent, but it decreases after children, as it should.

  5. mmh Says:

I agree with above comments — but wanted to add another thing — what about not having to work?!!!!!!!! MUST BE NICE!!!!

  6. Shirese Franklin Says:

Wow! I think that is a tad selfish. I know he must love his children, but, as someone said, your life changes after children. Or your life should change.

  7. Rachel Says:

Yes, I agree with all of you ladies. The comments left me thinking the same thing. It must be nice to play golf and all, but who is at home taking care of the twins? His wife. Or maybe they have nannies, I don’t know.I am embarrassed he even said that.

  8. Gina Says:

Sounds like he’s a great help at home.

  9. Olivia Says:

    Aren’t all girl/boy twins fraternal?!

  10. MissAllisonJenny Says:

Regardless of having a nanny or not, I would be ticked if I had 2 babies at home and a husband who just decided “Oh, I might as well play golf while I’m out…”

  11. r Says:

So, after a hard day of golfing and horseback riding, he then relaxes? Must be nice.

  12. Ellen Says:

I think Dennis was talking about a typical day, when he is not filming or promoting his newest movie. I am sure when he is playing golf, Kimberly is with the kids, and they both spend a lot of time with them. One of the most important things that parents of babies and toddlers are told is to make time for yourself, because it is easy to get overwhelmed, nanny or no nanny. After what Dennis & Kimberly went through with the twins being so sick, they do need a little break. I think they are devoted parents, and just because Dennis says he relaxes after dinner, it doesn’t mean the twins aren’t with him in the room.

  13. Linda Says:

The twins are young. They are probably in bed by the time Dennis has diner.

I don’t mind Dennis playing golf, but he’s known to be quite the golf addict so it’s probably an everyday thing.

  14. mmh Says:

Of course it’s important to still make time for yourself even after having kids, but it sounds like that’s ALL Dennis is doing…

  15. aurora mia Says:

Yeah, I have no plans for letting my little one change my day. I mean, it’s everyone who gets up at least twice a night to breast feed, pray to take a shower to get rid of the baby barf in my hair. Look for job to work around daycare, if I can afford it !! Plus research how start solids, clean the house and start some laundry and try to kiss my boyfriend over dinner…and maybe walk my dog. Right?? I wonder if he Dennis’ wife has any plans to change her day while he is golfing and horseback riding. So says a man!
