Giada De Laurentiis on Jade: ‘She’s Got to Get Some Teeth!’

Having been a multitasker for years — publishing books, hosting various Food Network programs and appearing regularly on the Today Show — Giada De Laurentiis is still learning how to juggle motherhood into the mix. "When you have children, everything changes. A lot of women know, you learn as you go through it," she told PEOPLE Saturday at the New York City Wine and Food Festival. The new mom, 38, said she’s still striking the balance "between not giving up everything that I used to do, and not missing out on anything that my daughter does."

Since welcoming daughter Jade Marie, 6 months, with husband Todd Thompson, Giada says she’s been adapting her cooking to her busier schedule. "The food is inspired by my lifestyle — some of the recipes are even shorter than before."

And as for Jade’s tastes? She just began eating solid foods last week, so she’s not too picky — yet! "It’ll be a couple years before I understand what she likes anddoesn’t like," Giada shared. "And she’s got to get some teeth, too.She’s missing teeth and hair. I’m hoping for both of those in the nearfuture."
