Buxom Inc.: Sleepwear for the Rest of Us
Buxom Inc. Egyptian Collar Chemise |
Even before I became pregnant, gave birth, and nursed for two years, I was blessed/cursed with a large chest on a petite body. Findingtops, dresses and even lingerie that fit and are flattering has beenendlessly frustrating for me. So too for Buxom Inc.founder Christine Kurek, so she created a line of sleepwear for"full-busted women" — for cup sizes C-DD (most clothes are cut for a B-cup).
Believing that women shouldn’t have to sacrificecomfort and support for style, she created the line which includes a red silk boyfriend-style nightshirt, silk charmeuse chemises ($112), and three chemises lined with tank bras ($59-120). I think it makes a great baby shower gift for a new mom, especially breastfeeding ones. Mothering Magazine even highlighted the coral cotton chemise ($59) in a recent issue.
I tried the Egyptian Collar Chemise ($72), which has a super snazzy Pucci-inspired print and a hidden tank bra. It was really comfortable and a hundred times more stylish than my old reliable flannel PJs. Though my husband was impressed by how nice it looked (and not droopy), I wished it had a little more support. I’m on the upper end of their cup-size limit and wish they had sizes that could accomodate my friends who are even more well-endowed. Still, the fact that it did not pull and was flattering completely won me over.
