Lemar Obika’s Greatest Inspiration is Fatherhood

British singer Lemar Obika took a break from recording music for the past two years but is now back with his new album The Reason and a new inspiration in his life. The 30-year-old and his partner Charmaine Powell welcomed daughter Nyiema eight and a half months ago, which lead Lemar on a new emotional journey. "Honestly nothing in life can compare to having a child," shares Lemar. "Everyone had built it up that I thought it might be an anti-climax — like a movie you see an excellent trailer for and the film is then a let down. But it’s great." It has been such a good experience for Lemar that he says he "even enjoys getting up in the night and changing nappies."

Little Nyiema has inspired her dad with his music career so much that "being a dad has helped me re-discover why I wanted to be a musician in the first place. She inspired the track The Reason."
