Paul Stanley Didn’t Realize How Wonderful Family Life Could Be

KISS’ Paul Stanley never imagined how wonderful having a family at home would be until he married Erin Sutton. The couple soon became parents to Colin Michael, 2, and also raise the rocker’s older son Evan Shane, 14, from a previous relationship. In fact, Paul doesn’t believe he was "smart enough to realize how terrific that would be" when he was younger. "I think for all the amazing times I had when I was at a different point in my life, there is a depth to my life now that probably wasn’t there, and didn’t need to be there then," says the 56-year-old rocker. Now that Paul knows how great it is to have a devoted family at home, he can hardly bear to be away from them when he is on the road touring. "I’m coping as well as I can, but a day off is a blessing and a curse. It’s great to rest, but it gives me time to miss my family that much more."

The topic of parenting sometimes leaves people worrying that how they are raising their kids is wrong, and that is something that Paul faces as well. He knows that "parenting is something that you can’t do purely on reflex or on what’s familiar from what you saw at home … you have to find what you believe is the right way to do it." Paul believes that he may be doing an okay job because of the way his oldest son has turned out.

"I am extremely proud of Evan. He is a terrific young man and it makes me that much more sure that the road ahead for Colin is a great one."

Paul and Erin are currently expecting their second child together — a daughter due in January.
