Elle Macpherson: My Boys Always Come Before Work

Elle Macpherson took the success she earned as a top supermodel and expanded her career to become an actress and businesswoman, all while putting motherhood to sons Flynn, 10 ½, and Cy, 5 ½, first in her life. In a new interview with The Sydney Morning Herald, Elle points out that, "When the boys were younger, I couldn’t and didn’t want to do anything big. I was the creative director of my Bendon range and worked closely with the designers on the collection and also showed up when we were shooting campaigns," but, the model says, "most of the time I spent raising the boys." Now that her sons are getting older, Elle has more time on her hands, but she doesn’t want people to think her priorities have changed.
"My boys still always come first … I drop them to school, work, then I pick them up and when they are in bed, I start working again."
The 44-year-old still faces the same dilemmas as any other parent, including getting her children to eat their dinner and go to bed. The night of the interview, Elle explained that that had been the case!
"I just had my five-year-old refuse to eat dinner, then he didn’t want to go to bed so he’s tired and miserable. Then he finally went to bed sobbing, ‘You’rethe worst mother in the world."’
Flynn and Cy’s dad is Swiss/French financier Arpad Busson. See Elle and other catwalkin’ mamas in our Model Moms Gallery!
