The couple have been in a relationship since 2001, although Sir Michael remains married to his estranged wife Anne, with whom he has a 44-year-old son, Fergus.

Well that’s certainly an interesting situation.
October 24th, 2008 at 6:49 pm
uh wow….thats interesting…a little shocking

I second that, although it’s nicer than what I would have said. But then, what isn’t?

I just want to add to my other comment…I just read that Michael and Philippa have been dating for like 7 years which makes this situation even more weird…I’m really surprised that Anne and Michael haven’t divorced….
October 24th, 2008 at 7:11 pm
wow dumbledore. you’ve got a little cash saved up, i’m sure. why doesn’t he just divorce the estranged wife and marry this one. maybe its not as clear cut as i think it is…

I have to be honest, this disturbs me a little bit. That’s like my grandpa having another kid now which means my aunt or uncle would be 21 years younger than me. It has to be weird for his FORTY FOUR year old son. Ugh!
October 24th, 2008 at 9:02 pm
wow, Michael’s son is the same age as his stepmom and he became a big brother at 43!
October 24th, 2008 at 10:00 pm
TITLE OF THE YEAR!!!!! lollllllllllllllllllllll!!!!
October 24th, 2008 at 10:39 pm
congrats to them
i do think however
becoming a father when you are almost 70 is very irresponsible
and not fair to the child
when this kid is 10 his dad will be almost 80
80 year olds dont have the same energy levels as a man in his 30’s or 40’s

I love him so much as an actor (Cranford and Wives & Daughters and many others)…he’s adorable in so many roles (I haven’t any of the Harry Potter movies though)…but this is quite odd.
He should make an honest woman out of his wife, methinks…give her the divorce and marry the mistress.
October 24th, 2008 at 10:43 pm
I’ve heard that it is because he is catholic (Why he won’t divorce the wife). Congrats to them on the baby tho.
October 24th, 2008 at 10:58 pm
Having babies with your mistress while still married to your wife! Tsk tsk Dumbledore!
Maybe his wife is the rich one who stands to lose a lot in a divorce so she won’t consent.
October 24th, 2008 at 11:59 pm
well, well, well Dumbledore.(I really didn’t recognize him at first…without the beard and everything). That’s such as weird situation
October 25th, 2008 at 4:25 am
Hes pretty good in the movies but this just makes me think SO much less of him!
October 25th, 2008 at 5:19 am
Well, certainly interesting. I read in a magazine that he isn’t even estranged to his wife, he supposedly still lives with her as husband and wife when staying in the country while living with Philippa in London. As long as everyone’s happy…
October 25th, 2008 at 5:52 am
I find it kinda weird his son is one year older than his mistress. Well, good to know an almost 70-year old man still can make babies, lol. Ah, stranger things have happened!
October 25th, 2008 at 6:31 am
the old saying goes “it’s cheaper to keep her”
plus, if they’ve been together for 7 yrs, we can’t say anne isn’t living her own “life” outside of the marriage as well…
all while still living the life w/ all the benefits and priviledge of being Dumbledore’s wife…
lol… u go Anne!!!

It does sound like a complicated situation. If you google his name and “divorce” you’ll find some, ahem, interesting reading. Dumbledore has a busy life.
October 25th, 2008 at 8:06 am
Wow he is Dumbledore? I’ve seen the movies like 100 times but I would never notice that, lol.
October 25th, 2008 at 8:32 am
I read his wife and him doesn’t want to divorce because of their religion. All the people concerned know about the situation so I guess I won’t judge but I hope they’re all happy.
On another note I watched some interview of him and I didn’t know he was so hilarious.
October 25th, 2008 at 9:33 am
Yes I would say this to his face if I had the opportunity: His Dumbledore portrayal is awful.
October 25th, 2008 at 10:18 am
WOW!Still Married! Why Don’t They Just Divorce?!?!And Second,I Think It’s Funny How His Son Is Older Than His “Mistress”!
Anyways,Even Though This Situation Is EXTREMELY Strange, Congrats!
October 25th, 2008 at 11:09 am
dumbledore’s a whore! LOL

I find it interesting that the moderators on this site allow some snotty comments and then not others. We’re not allowed to comment on Celine Dion’s sons hair but we can slag this guy off because he is old, married and getting younger women pregnant? I say good for him. Life’s too short. Live it well.

Just because something isn’t what we percieve to be conventional, doesn’t mean that it is wrong or bad. Not so long ago, gay parents were judged (and sometimes still are) by some and I don’t really think this should be regarded as any different. If all involved in the situation are happy and no one is getting hurt, I don’t see any harm in it at all. Good luck to the family.
October 25th, 2008 at 1:46 pm
lol. he doesn’t want to get married b/c of his religion? does the think the sins are ranked or something? Uh. don’t divorce your wife…that’s bad. Cheating on your wife for seven years…that’s not as bad. lol.
October 25th, 2008 at 2:24 pm
Wow! Seems like everyone has “read” something, and doesn’t sound like a lot of it adds up! Really, if his wife hasn’t taken off and divorced him, and he obviously knows about the mistress, whose business is it anyways???
October 25th, 2008 at 3:32 pm
It seems to me that the women in this situation hold the power. The wife knows of the mistress, the mistress knows of the wife. If the wife wanted to divorce, she would. If the mistress didn’t want to still be a mistress, she wouldn’t. I tend to think once you’re aware of a situation, no matter if you wanted to be in it or not, you’re responsible for your life’s path from then on. If they’re comfortable with it, c’est la vie. My husband says he can barely handle having a wife, much less a mistress! He makes me laugh, what can I say! LOL!
October 25th, 2008 at 4:11 pm
And again, I am disappointed in humanity. I never expected more people to be upset that this man had a mistress than the fact that he’s SEVENTY FREAKING YEARS OLD!!!!!! Just because men CAN have children until they kick it, doesn’t mean that they SHOULD! But, oh wait, I forgot…the psycho feminism thing. Of COURSE the only thing wrong with this scenario is that a man is having an affair. And because his wife puts up with it, she’s not pathetic, she’s a hero! Ramparts to her! *HUGE eye roll*
October 26th, 2008 at 11:56 am
Congratulations to them, what business of ours is it how they live? Everyone seems to know where they stand and seeing as they already have a child I would say his partner is pretty happy with the sistuation or else she would have left.
